Transformers general thread - Toy Robot men based on giant robots based on previously mentioned toys about said robots

DNA Design is doing a kit for some figure I don't recognize to turn it into Jet Jaguar. At least this is more interesting than their usual releases which are 80% gap fillers.

I got a weirdly vivid memory of watching the godzilla movie jet jaguar shows up in on VHS at an extended family member that lived by the beach's house they'd rent out to other people or family members (us at the time). We used to go there every year so I don't know the exact year it was but for context just imagine a REALLY small single story house with what at the time with a small CRT TV in a bedroom and no air conditioning, just fans and windows around the start of summer. I think they also had a VHS of spectreman there but I could be misremembering. All I know is I somehow at finding out abotu the guy realized he was basically a bootleg of another guy that already existed but still cool.

If shit's not too expensive I'm likely gonna get this is what I'm saying.

That's always the problem with DNA releases.
yeah I noticed they keep getting more expensive. Shit's like 30 dollars for articulated hands and some gap fillers on a lot of their shit and it's rarely in stock when you actually want it. (bay megatron arm fix kit for big example but i thinkt hat was when they were still 20 something not 30)

it's weird how the modern devastator is just a downscaled combiner wars for the most part, ican respect it more as it's more integrated and us a king among combiners.

It definitely seems like they prefer having extraneous bits to help create a more cohesive combiner than integrating it into the bots themselves. Personally I'm fine with it as long as the end result looks and feels good, although I do prefer how they are handling it with Devastator instead of having the whole frame like Menasor, Superior, and presumably Bruticus. It's mostly the legs on those that bug me since you can barely see the bot.

it's more integrated
The integration seems about the same, unless you're talking long haul's legs in which case that's less integrated due to them folding back and having a trailer plug into where the legs would be as the legs. If they didn't make the figures deluxes priced as voyagers with more waffling than the already notoriously waffled combiner wars one it'd hurt a bit less.

It's such a weird fucking thing to do after reissuing the combiner wars version, but I got a feeling the reason the version reissued was the hampered original release one with no elbows on some figures was because they wanted people to buy SS86 and go "WOAH IT'S SO MUCH BETTER". Articulation wise ss86 is more or less similar to the UW release. I don't know if any fix the tab issue with scrapper and long haul I keep hearing about but if mine come fucked up or broke I'll let you know when my used CW one arrives. Long hauls tab breakage apparently doesn't affect the overall figure but scrapper makes it so he can't stand unless you mod it IIRC.

Ideally I'd rather have a 6th guy that turns into the upper legs than filling 90 dollar figure slots with a voyager with an accessory or 2 deluxes with an accessory. So basically CW/UW devastator but for the 5 guy teams.

One of this year's Pulsecon exclusives is going to be Armada Nemesis Prime and the Vorpal Saber.
it's apparently still commander so out of my normal affordability, especially considering they're probably gonna bump the price up further due to the minicon team we'll likely never see again till they make another exclusive and remember they exist. hell.

EDIT: I just realized something about SS86 devastator! Saw a lot of people the last few months complain about the weird offset lower legs and then I realized why that is.

You can ESPECIALLY see it in this YT thumbnail with all of them side by side.

The offset legs are also on the CW one, but they're like that to make the wheel on long haul smoothly integrate into the silhouette. They replaced long hauls legs with a trailer that turns into lower legs to do "animation accurate" no wheels on the side, but didn't account for why that leg offset was there or were just too lazy to change the blatantly downsized connection engineering.

I think what made shit so much more baffling to me is how on the new one the head is still on a swivel, when the budget of releasing them separately should "allow" for a tilt hinge at the very least.

So I got a refund but also got to keep the Seidge Springer along with my new Studio one. I think one will be battle damaged and the other will be the more 'youthful' one. I also snagged a 3rd party Elita figure. Yeah she's made for gooners but her vehicle mode is sleek. I can overlook some fan service like that. Aiming for a SS Ultra Magnus one day (I'm waiting for someone to sell one for cheap for rent money. I'm surrounded by financially unstable dumbfucks so its only a matter of time).

got my devastator
he's fucking FILTHY and DISCOLORED.
Not nightmare levels but like weird small mystery brown spots everywhere. I've never had to clean my action figures off before in my life and I'm hoping whatever this is doesn't spread

EDIT: Havent cleaned it yet but it's likely just bug poop and dust with some heat damage due to how fucking hot it is outside.

I don't know if this has been discussed before, but I recall that at some point the Transformers wiki had articles that read like shitposts. Like, calling certain bots trannies and such. Did I hallucinate it all? feels like the wiki is tilted to respecting all 72 genders. What's the lore with that?
It still has some shitposty jokes in articles, but yeah IIRC the staff got pozzed.

I rambled about this at some point but the shit where they now treat transmutate being called "it" as a nonbinary pronouns thing instead of the clear deformed ungodly abomination referral thing it actually is really fucking disgusts me on a primal level. It's like if you heard some church guy calling quasimodo "that thing" and deciding that it means he's nonbinary and you can't say the wrong pronouns ever instead of understanding that quasimodo is viewed as a shameful creature.

i just think it's funny they call transmutate a tranny now because primal describes it as an unstable barely functional being that is slightly over an automaton.
She was a funny retard-bot and it was sad seeing the tardbot die trying to stop frens from fighting.
These people have warped themselves to the point they cannot comprehend compassion if it's not slathered in current year eternal-isms. Even then, it's questionable if they can.

Wasnt Transmutate confirmed as female?
I mean the voice and face kind of make it obvious but they did do an exclusive arcee repaint and another exclusive dinosaur robot repaint of her that list her as female in her bio many years after beast wars ended.

i think transmutate was female is one of the botcon comics where it and rampage/protoform x where stranded on a planet.
Her design in the OG beast wars was literally a fucked up hunched over robo-skeleton woman with a long weird neck. From what I remember that exclusive was meant to be a "what if she didn't get fucked up so bad to retardbot levels" kinda deal

not sure if the alpha trion is worth it over the warrior like with b-127, but that airachnid is near perfect. i can't wait to see them colored.
