Transformers general thread - Toy Robot men based on giant robots based on previously mentioned toys about said robots

How do you feel about the Masterpiece line? The turns it’s taken and the……. interesting choices they’ve taken within the last three years?

Like the weird engineering, autistic animation accuracy, breakages and bulking up prices with nonsense accessories. I know a lot of guys who jumped ship after the recent Bumblebee, saggy tits Arcee and chrome feet Optimus.

I’m always curious to see how collectors of the line feel about these things.
I'm in-between on them, though I do lean more towards liking them. The price is probably the biggest downer for me - that Prime 3.0 was pretty hard to swallow but I made it work. Usually when I get a figure I try to find at least something to like before purchasing it. Prime and Megatron look nice all around, Bumblebee looks nice from the front, Arcee looks decent in person, and I just got Starscream 2.0 which is actually really nice all around. I pass on most repaints and the only original mold I passed on was Leo Prime because that guy just did not interest me. I'm interested in what Raiden is gonna be like, though my pocketbook isn't gonna be happy. I do own a Haslab Unicron so I guess I can't complain too much about how much something costs lol

Well guys, I found the one Canadian Toys R Us (sorry Americans) with a loaded section. T-Wrecks, Buzzworthy, Draculus, Selects Galvatron, and Rodimus.

I got them, Selects Galvatron is MINE!

I also got a Draculus, no sign of wave four of Kingdom tho.

I liked the Studio Series 86 Hot Rod but was very disappointed with the WFC Kingdom Rodimus...until I found a guy who 3D prints cab sections for it. It completely fixed the issue with the truck mode looking like complete dogshit and being WAY too long:

On the shelf (since I have two copies of the Kingdom Rodimus, the 3D printed part allows me to display bot, truck, and car. it is awesome):

The fix is absolutely perfect as like I said the truck mode is normally like 2 inches too long, but also way too thin in the cab section. I (kind of...) understand why they did it like that, but it still sucks. Very happy to find out that such a part existed, because when I saw the teaser photos of Kingdom Rodimus I was pretty damn disappointed. I'm one of the weirdos who actually loves his truck mode, in addition to all the others.

To each their own, glad you were able to find a way to enjoy it.

Kingdom Rodimus is a fantastic figure and in my eyes it beat every criticism levelled at him, he’s chonky, articulated to an insane degree, has all the gimmicks, has a kickass trailer, loads of accessories and he’s FUN. Plus he’s clearly a Marvel-homage so I’m game.

Looking forward to reuniting him with Galvy, they were clearly designed with the other in mind. Might give him the green Marvel-matrix included with Selects Galvatron

That’s actually a good point, “find something to like before purchasing it.” I think a lot of collectors need that advice.

Raiden is gonna be weird, no two ways about it. The other…… more desirable combiners are probably locked behind his success and that’s an unfortunate place to be. I know why Takara started with Raiden, he’s untouched (mostly) and they’ve got a clean slate to work with.

Can’t help but feel they maybe should’ve started with Devastator, the first and greatest combiner.

Don't get me wrong, I love everything about it besides the stock truck mode. Even aside from the fact that I think it's way too long and skinny, the back tires of the car don't even line up with or double as the front tires of the trailer and you can clearly see them poking out in front of them, so it looks kinda silly imo.

Speaking of combiners, the one piece I really regret trading was the DX9 Menasor. It was my only non-Hot Rod bc he and his bots were the only other Transformer(s) I liked as a kid. I feel the same way about DX9 that you said about the WFC, that it really beat all the criticisms...I really loved that combiner, and I normally do not like combiners at all. DX9 may officially be "out of business" but I know they'll just rebrand and keep making stuff and I really hope they do because they make some great stuff. Their Rodimus is fantastic too, I have multiples of it and love it. Do you have any thoughts on them or who they have rebranded as? I heard their Blitzwing was a massive win also

Hit up a Target lately, and it was nice to see some actual product on the shelf that wasn't a picked over crate of Studio Series. Most the of the Wal-Marts I've been to have been slim. Mostly just a half dozen figures in the Deluxe sizes.

Call me weird, but I actually like picking up some of the kid-aimed toys. One step changers, and Cyberverse stuff, and you just can't find it on shelves anymore. During the TFPrime Cartoon, the 'Cyberverse' size class was so fun, and some of the figures actually looked pretty nice. They were great to have on my desk to fidget with. Now I cannot find that stuff in stores. It's so apparent that the kid market is in the toilet, and they're focused on collectors.

When I went I saw legions upon legions of Arcee, did you have that?

Edit: Doesn’t warrant a double post but here’s the two I picked up yesterday

My Walmart has a some of the deluxe, bitch with a backpack Arcee, though it's the Velocitrexes that are shelfwarming. But what I saw a TON of at Target was Buzzworthy Bumblebee boxsets, and the Beast Wars reissues. As well as some Cyberverse. Finally snagged myself a Cyberverse Clobber.

The entire deluxe Kingdom shelf was Arcee at my Toys R Us, I counted like 24 of those bitches. Right next to Buzzworthy Bumblebees. I asked over on tfg “If you’re a kid, hypothetically. Which are you gonna get Mom and Dad to buy you? Backpack bitch who doesn’t transform? Or your loveable yellow robot cartoon pal?” Those Arcees are going nowhere.

I also saw T-Wrecks taking up the Kingdom leader section, there was a retail Galvatron hidden in the back, with the defective shoulders of course. Weirdly enough it was Draculus who had the anti-theft “clamp” on, not Rodimus, not T-Wrecks, not Buzzworthy “World’s Collide” and the bottom row SS leaders.

Well get ready, because it's about to get worse.

According to one of the big leakers they originally wanted to use the T30 mold for SS86 Arcee, but for some reason that seems to have been scrapped. Which means it will most likely end up being... yet another ER Arcee re-release.

Man fuck that, it’s not even the shell that pisses me off. It’s how obvious that this mold isn’t a WFC-era mold. There are a few figures that are clearly shelved designs retooled and redesigned to integrate the line’s patented ankle rockers, 5mm ports and wrist articulation.

Impactor for example is NOT a WFC figure, it’s why he’s so stiff and hollow compared to his kin. But there was an attempt to bring him into the standard for the line, with his weird ankles and crazy amount of 5mm ports.

There was no such attempt for Arcee, they didn’t care enough to paint her gun, lipstick and face. They know it’s shit.

IDK. ER Arcee is a shit, lazy mold that they seem desperate to make people like for some reason. But trying to force it down people's throats is just gonna make em dislike it even more.

In my mind T30 and MP Arcee, while flawed, are still the best official G1 Arcees that have been made. I happen to have both, so they can kiss my ass if that's what the 86 version turns out to be.

So apparently the Jurassic Park two-pack has roaring QC issues with JP93 being a nightmare of clear plastic, shit engineering and parts that fall off.

Tyrannocon…… has derp eyes in beast mode, pic is what one anon got out of the box…….

This…… this is Hasbro’s funniest fuckup in a while. Like MAGA Jazz tier-funny. The eyes have no consistency between releases, it’s a gamble ordering this overpriced garbage.

Just got these two guys in the mail (Newage legends-scale Starscream and Soundwave) and holy crap these transformations are insane. It’s crazy how they were able to engineer these guys at this size to have pretty much zero kibble in either mode while still being stable and pretty fun to transform back and forth. I’m more into Transformers for the engineering than the characters, and for that aspect alone these guys are well worth the steep cost.

I was afraid these guys would feel too small or fiddly but honestly, in hand, they’re a great size. I honestly prefer them to the one MP-scale figure I own (a Soundwave KO) because I can just keep them on my desk as decorations. My only “complaint” is that Starscream’s knee decos are off-center, but apparently that’s accurate to the G1 toy so I guess I got what I paid for. Still looks stupid though.

Selects galvatron shipped out a few days ago despite being delayed till december initially, gave my ass a bit of a cash spook because I was not expecting it. Thankfully everything's sorted out .
Also saw a normal galvatron with the fixed shoulders in a target today, didn't buy him because I already have the defective one and though it's sculpt does flow better with the corrected shoulders I've kinda grown on the weirdly slightly blocky look the flip-turned incorrectly assembled ones have. I do want to make a custom closer to the g1 animation colors someday so if I see him on discount anywhere I WILL get him for that plan. Now though? I'm eventually going to end up with 3 of the things due to the fact I also got that Pulsecon selects galvatron coming when that thing hits official release next year or so, despite once again some people in other countries getting the thing way before the US guys or even pulsecon. If kingdom galvatron ends up being the next siege megatron in terms of repaints I wouldn't really have any gripes as it's fucking perfect sculpt-wise save for the inaccurate helmet and pylon. Already rambled about that shit so I won't go full into that again.

In other news, I went to 5 below today and they had a bunch of the fucking late waves of Siege battlemasters for some reason. No ratbat/rumble, sadly. If those were there they were probably bought and put on ebay. This does however explain the drop of price for that set to $30 instead of the usual $60 scalpers were charging for it if this is where they're coming from. I grabbed a siege rung from there. I already had the earthrise re-release that has a weirdly slightly lighter orange crotchpiece but seeing there was only 1 of him and the funky orange gun he turns into is a generally fun accessory to give the other figures I was like "why the hell not" and got him. if I see a third by some miracle I'll probably try custom painting the thing to either look more like the guy or more like an actual weird space-gun.

EDIT: (as if this textheap wasn't big enough!)
I forgot to mention this but like a month or 2 back I saw that Worlds collide 4 pack in target. There was a whole damn shelf of them and I lacked the spare cash at the time. I scanned the thing and it said "out of stock" when I did that. Next day I went there they were gone, and snake eyes movie shit was crudely thrown in the slot. they never restocked. They technically MIGHT HAVE restocked but it never went on the shelves. I saw they changed the tag on there when I was in there last week to a clearance tag of $50 despite the fact the snake eyes shit was still there. Similarly weird shit happened in a Walmart near me with the exclusive Gi joe figures. Full shelf, Scanned the price, shit said "out of stock". Didn't buy because the things are cheap and in stock online. Next day? Shelf empty. Shelf still hasn't restocked, random shit thrown in the slots. I don't know if this is tied to that "scalper employee network" or whatever but it's happened a third time now and this time I didn't let it fucking happen. Went in target, saw a shelf full of NECA Chromedome. NONE of the neca turtles figures have fucking even made an appearance on the shelf in my target since Krang. The turtles 4 pack reissue? It's like it didn't even fucking exist. So, naturally I price scan it to check my theory and yeah, it says it's "out of stock and not available at any nearby stores" when there's an entire god damn shelf full of the things. I bought it for the full ass price of 40 dollars plus tax. Sales won't come and if they do the things will be mysteriously missing from the shelves with random funko shit jammed in their place by then. Fuck these people.

Did you enjoy ER Arcee? Well, you can get another!

NO RETOOLING! REQUEST DENIED, GOOD DAY SIR!
That figure has been a savior for employee scalpers to never have to restock shelves in my area when they don't have unrelated shit to clog the pegs. At least with the masters of the universe origins figures the "include he man and skeletor every fucking wave" thing was to make sure the 2 big name guys are readily available for people. Unfortunately it also means that the others never make it to shelf ad he man and skeletor shelfwarm till they get up on clearance for 2 dollars less than standard price in some stores only to be replaced by retooled head variations but hey, at least you're gonna find the main characters everyone at least wants 1 of everywhere. Thanks to the 2 or 3 earthrise/kingdom arcees that are on the shelves at every store and never went on discount, none of the exclusives ever saw shelf. Only exlusives I've seen in stock physically is T wrecks, who was supposed to be online exclusive but has been in stock shelfwarming at every target by me for the whole year, and the recent netflix walmart rusticon, who has done a similar thing.

Speaking of t wrecks I'm still pissed about the alternate megatron expression only showing up in some defective batches of kingdom megatron that had it. They painted on fake teeth for t wrecks when they clearly had an unused mold for a grimacing megatron that got leaked. Scalpers got all the kingdom megatrons in my area save for the time I found that one where the card was stolen from it, so I never managed to find one of those weird production error ones.
hey, at least it saw the light of day, I guess. Unlike CW demolishor or T30 Transmetal Megatron.

Well I preordered Pipes and Slammer. I have Huffer and the two pack guys pre-ordered so I figured I need a 4th version of the mold just in case they make a 5th version for the Throttlebot dumptruck.

I think blaster is supposed to be in legacy so he'll be easier to find I hope.

Is there anything related to Cyber Monday reveals? I hope it's not going to be stuff like Clampdown, because I have the dozen other sideswipe molds and I don't want to miss one.
