Transformers general thread - Toy Robot men based on giant robots based on previously mentioned toys about said robots

You think it was stuff like this that made Hasbro upset?
View attachment 2791384
I don’t know why a toy company would be upset with one of their on the shelf action figures ranting and raving about killing not-immigrants and not-lesbians.
Character that previously was more "jackass or morally ambiguous" and less "BAD MAN MAN BAD!" suddenly bad because "orange man bad! ORANGE MAN BAD!!! HE"'S TOTALLYG GONNA KILL ALL YOU MINORITIES FOLX!!"
Reminder that Chris made the same connection when Trump got in lmao.
God it doesn't feel like it's been 5 years.

Bumblebee Ratchet has what looks like four different shades of white plastic on it so looks like I'll have to paint it so it's uniform.

This is weirdly common and I wonder exactly why it happens. Every version of Kingdom galvatron has this going on with the purple parts, for instance. SHits been going on with figures on and off since thrilling 30 blitzing I think? maybe earlier but thats one of the first I remember people complaining significantly about.

I used to it when it's yellows and sometimes reds, but it's becoming more and more common with different colours. It's not so much a problem with me because I like painting my Transformers since I like painting and they're larger than tabletop minis so my shaky hands can handle it better, but I think people like me make up less than 1% of the community. We don't need translucent plastic on our figures so you don't need to paint that. Just stick with opaque plastic and let the whole thing look good. Even my son notice the colour differences.

Just look at the Buzzworthy figures with the new windows, looks great.

Not a fan of Zeta Toys stuff (even the old Toy World designs they took with them when they split) but this isn't bad.
Looks a lot better than having to use a core bot for the combiner too.

I think I found the worst possible transformer. Behold, Knight Rider Becames Robert:

Oh, also: Soul of Chogokin is doing a King Exkizer. It will be out next year. That means they will also be doing a Dragonkizer (and of course, that means a Great Exkizer combined form) and I can't wait. The Masterpiece King Exkizer is a great piece, even being as old as it is, and the original is just so cool because it is ungodly massiv. Hopefully this means moar SOC Brave stuff. I'd like a high end Super Fire Dagwon and I think a Soul of Chogokin Great Baangaan would be one of the coolest things ever.

Seeing this thread reminded me that I have a few old Transformers from when I was really young, so I decided to whip them out and show them off here. Keep in mind that it's not very impressive, but it's something at least. This is less for pride and more for nostalgia reasons. Also apologies in advance for the rancid photo quality, this was on a laptop and was the only means i had at the time.

I should note, I barely know jack shit about the proper "sets" or toy series, so forgive me if I fuck that up a bit.

First, here is the lineup I have for you all:
PIXECT-20211214011844.jpg

In the back is Downshift on the left and Cannonball on the right, both from the Cybertron series in 2006, from what I read. In front is three others who I legitimately cannot remember the names of, nor do i know what series they are.

Here's another picture of them, this time transformed:

Now, you may be wondering what the hell that random red piece is. I'm gonna be honest, I have no clue either. All I know is that the original had one eye, had a weird gun in it's chest, and was a big red car. No clue what the name is, would appreciate it if I could get more info. I took a close up for the purposes of closer examination:

I need to go find/dig out my old ones sometime. Never sold them off so they've just been around in boxes in various parts of the house since forever. Technically 3 or 4 of them are easily accessible as they're on a weird storage shelf which used to be a bunk bed ages ago instead of a box. I'd need to dig them off that instead of out of that as it'd require me clambering up there and then dusting them off. Those 5 being Armada unicron, Armada Galvatron, Tidal Wave, Energon Galvatron, Alpha Q, and some other one I can't remember right now. I also have animated shockwave and the Walmart g1 recolor of energon devastator in a box in a more reachable location, but that's another story. All the weird beast wars/Unicron Anime trilogy figures that were the majority of transformers I had as a kid are in boxes somewhere in the basement probably, save for Armada Nemesis prime who USED to be in the same spot as the other shelf-bed dwellers but somehow is missing now.
Shit, as I'm typing this, I just remembered I have like 2 or 3 Barricades on that same shelf, too. as in the Movie figure of Barricade. Not identical, more weird variants of the same figure.

On the subject of the leg, It took me a while to realize exactly what figure that leg belonged to, but then I Had a hunch and looked up the figure it might be, and I was somehow entirely correct. That leg belongs to the bay movie Swindle figure. Swindle was not a character in the movie, the figure was actually based on a generic enemy from the video game made to promote the movie.
Not my pic, but this is what that guy looks like. Really cool design. Had a gimmick where the torso turned into a cannon.
Transformers Universe - Movie Swindle - 3 / 12

it's insane looking at transformers from when I was a kid and comparign them to the ones currently out. In some ways the new ones are direct downgrades, are more than likely a little cheaper to produce, and yet they cost double what they did years ago. Limb engineering is a bit better in some cases but QC and thin ass plastic make for a nightmare world combo.

With IDW going down the tubes and all their books now no longer "canon" I want to see if all the 2000's era repaints they featured will now plummet in price.

I mean there's probably just a small subset of collectors that bothered completing lines like Beast Machines and Universe 1.0, They probably have everything by now.

I'm amazed they lasted as long as they did. They've been in the red since 2015.

Not all comics will drop. Certain mini's may go up due to there not being any more reprints and ones with the nice painted artwork wont drop.

No I mean toys where a single comics panel was their only appearance.

That wont matter much, Hasbro was making them anyways so they can keep the trademark going on them. IDW just didn't want to do anything with the vast amount of characters Hasbro owns. It's why so many died for no reason.

He's mistransformed in a few photos, you can see that his top part can be lowered more with a gear.

I really want to see how he can be retooled, because I think I'd like him more as a random ass late G1 character.
a slight retoil could be done for both General Prime and Roadbuster, remove the canopy and add a missile rack for Dropshot or Onsalaught from the movies.

Forgot that if your change the cab front you could have Hero Prime from g2 too.

CS-02 Aegopter from TFC doesn't look too bad after it's been painted. Works a little bit better as a Transformer than a Go-Bot or standalone figure than the jet they did, sort of a Mastermind Creations bot form. Looks like it could be easily be used as a female character. Pretty expensive though.

That big round head on a long neck just doesn’t work for me with that body. The helicopter mode looks sick though.

Recently picked up the Magic Square Megatron to compare with the Newage, and while its robot and gun modes are both significantly better than the Newage, the transformation is complete ass-cancer. The Newage is a much better toy, since I actually enjoy flipping it back and forth, but the Magic Square undoubtedly looks more complete in both modes. I feel like there’s a perfect Legends-scale gun Megatron somewhere in between the two that just doesn’t exist yet.

Sludge is getting a leader figure next, Blitzwing is getting a new figure and Jhiaxus will be a voyager. Should be getting images in February. I would like to see what Spike looks like, he's supposed to be core class. We should also be seeing images of Wildrider and Knockout soon too.

IDW Editor-in-Chief is now gone. Effectively meaning that the company is now dead.

Henry Orenstein has also passed away.
