Transformers general thread - Toy Robot men based on giant robots based on previously mentioned toys about said robots

So I was looking into the changes they made for Straxus from the Kingdom Galvatron mold and really the only parts that aren't new or remolded are the feet and the thighs. Arms have the ports gone since he doesn't have a canon. Sorry, they also have some added detail now. The legs have different shin guards. He has a new crotch piece though the side skirts are the same. Chest is new. Pauldron are straight up instead of being 75 degrees. They are slightly remolded though.

Sad day when a mainline Bumblebee looks better than his MP counterpart. If a KO company could enlarge this I'd use it as a stand in.

like look at that backpack and side profile. Infinitely better than the MP version.

voyager plus-i mean- leader class became such a farce, packing in extra bits to bulk out the price for a character only works if it fits them(like the armour on shockwave), now springer gets a sword he used once while he already has a intigraded sword and a bomb that has no extra function. just make the new one a generations selects figure.

They did increase his size and bulk but that's only by a few millimeters. As well as some additional retooling. Price increase is there mostly due to them not being able to reuse molds like this for other characters. It also doesn't help that ToyHax charges quite a lot for weapons and Hasbro knows that those types of products exist and will charge extra for extra weapons and stuff if they can't just use an existing mold like they're doing with the new Quake Targetmasters.

I personally would like them to stop giving people blast effects as the plastic used for those can melt figures. Similar to their old rubber material.

Looks like Earthspark is about to get canceled after season 2 to make way for a new series. The Skybound comics are also up for three nominations at the Eisner Awards including best continuing series.
Maybe if Hasbro wants their shows to do well they should try and do more than two or three seasons.

I found this out via yt reccomending me out of character political posts by action figure review guys I've watched videos of once or twice that go "Don't let alt right reactionaries call it wokeness that killed the show! fight against discrimination!". Social media turns people into fucking skinwalkers for a tiny drop of potential clout man, not a fun thing at all.
I'm just gonna safely come tot he conclusion that going by the patterns of this happening race/gender shit and calling people they don't like "right wing"is just gonna be standard for them now. More sane people in the comments sections of the posts were either politics shit stirrers or people that actually were sane going "Yeah the show had a neat premise of post war but it didn't do much with it and the writing was kinda preachy compared to other transformers series as well as shows aimed towards kids in general". It's so weird that even after people became aware the pronoun stuff with the owl guy was only in the english version of the show the politically active guys keep using the fucker as a criticism shield.

EDIT TO AVOID DOUBLE POST+I FORGOT TO BRING THIS UP YESTERDAY: Missed both pre orders on armada Optimus' restock on the places with free shipping, and the dynamic capture three pack seems to just never be restocking or releasing other than pre-order? All the listings are just scalpers now and the prices for the individual figures are spiking from 50 to 120 on ebay. Repaints aren't worth that much and it's pissing me off because I was going to order the fucking thing months back but then shit happened. a $100 box set is out of my price range normally, but less so than the $200 tidal wave that's been looming over me ever since I preordered it. Made sure I'll have enough for when he comes whenever that is, but I'm still being really fucking frugal with my spending knowing that creature is gonna be slamming at my front door someday soon. I have Straxus pre-ordered but since he's coming in October and Tidal Wave is in either July or august I've got more than enough time to recover from that $200 spending money loss.

At least when IDW made that one Lesbian Transformer who became a mutated dinosaur they didn't just immediately do it. They actually took their time with that. Hasbro's writers couldn't even wait to make diversity/ basketball American family a major thing and new Transformers who had no personality and who's only characteristic is "I'm a them/they/ trans". How do you manage to write worse than IDW?

I've never really been a hardcore fan, but the PS2 game by Melbourne House, based on Armada, is the best Transformers video game I've ever played. The NDS versions (Autobots, and Decepticons) of the Bayformers based games were really fun, too. In those ones, you could make your own protagonist/antagonist, and go around scanning different vehicle forms.

The game that's loosely based on armada has some of the best fucking tracks I've heard in a game.

Also every time I'm thinking about or reminded about that Tidal Wave that's going to arrive at some point this year my brain just jumps to the Game's boss cutscene intro of him.
People have theorized the reason the head is based on an off model anime shot of his head is so they can make a "gamer edition" down the line with his hasbro release toy/video game appearance colors. Not sure if I'll have the funds for that one too but I still have my original from back in the day and that figure's pretty much perfect save for the lack of knees.
EDIT: I think I already talked about the og figure being perfect save for lack of knees and the recolor theory. whoops.

The sub-franchise with an all-black human cast and they/them robots didn't catch on? Who would have guessed!
In the midst of achieving representation to pander to a greater audience they got the completely opposite effect. How ironic.

Truly amusing.

Bet they’ll blame the oh-so-terrible alt-right rather than accepting that they can’t worldbuild / write.

Don Perlin, the original artist for the Transformers comics has passed away at 94. He's the guy that penciled the comic with Straxus vs Blaster fight and the comic where Omega Supreme kills a bunch of Decepticons in case you don't know him. He also did the Transformers the Movie mini series comic.

"collapse under it's own weight" do you mean he is entirely diecast?

80 fucking dollars.
i thought it was because of the box itself, but man.
It feels very premium and the presentation is nice. You could easily kill someone if you whipped it at someones head. If you think $80usd is bad, I spend over $125cad on it and I bought one for my son. Do I think it's worth the price though? Not really. I wouldn't trust it if it was out in the open to collect dust or the weight of gravity on it's limbs It reminds me of the one generation of Titanium figures that fell apart over time. We have our boxes slight slanted so there's more weight on it's backside than it's legs.

You can do that with cheaper offers too! This honestly seems like an intentional attempt at creeping prices up further on everything. From what I see it's basically just a miniaturized g1 Optimus, something that's been done before for much cheaper than $80. The RESELLERS of the older offerings from Takara want 80 for them it seems, so it's more than likely they "price matched" it, A trend I really don't like in terms of figure prices.

Then it wasn't worth $80 lmao. Oddly my Titanium figures never broke or "fell apart" though the parts have come unclipped occasionally, weirdly the only figures I've never had the c clip style joints break even with how tiny they are.
