Transformers general thread - Toy Robot men based on giant robots based on previously mentioned toys about said robots

John Warden has been fired from Hasbro.
I don't understand this at all. I suppose he'll be replaced by a DEI hire.
God, I hope Transformers will stay alive. With One underperforming at the box office and the big Power Rangers auction, it seems like they're scrapping most of their original properties. Please please please don't let Hasbro devolve into WOTC, Star Wars, Marvel, and girls' toys only . . . I swear, if MLP somehow survives, we'll need to call Lee to give them a piece of his mind (also get Lee to call Mattel since they're cutting down on Thomas to reboot Barney).

It will, just wish John was leading the charge. This retarded push for the non-G1 crap has gotta end though. There is no reason why Jap Beast Wars nonsense is clogging up a commander slot.

Hopefully One bombing can get Ventura gone, that’s a few bombs in a row now.

you leave my boy magmatron alone.

generations for the longest time needed none g1 stuff, we are getting older, they need to call back to the unicron triology more.
when do we get transmetals again hasblow?

Im sure the mentally challenged demographic was incensed about that.

I just realized despite studio series galvatron being a slightly nicer shade of purple , it still for some insane reason misses the red paint on the shoulder pylons like the first 2 non selects releases did. The ONE improvement that'd make sense for a repaint and they didn't fucking do it.

Also I don't like how they're veering into the "we will make things that would sell well a regional one time event exclusive" thing like they've been doing to gi joe with transformers. The selects armada thundercracker/super mode starscream is something that I'm not going to ever let go. Every other reviewer that got him talks about how they're disappointed and don't even like/know about armada but how he's super valuable. "oh yeah i just live in/have a second house in/flew to japan haha" FUCKING CALIFORNIANS REEEEEEE!!!!!
Seriously though I really wanted that figure. Super mode megatron/galvatron isn't a super limited exclusive but all the others so far have been for no reason whatsoever. Hot shot/hot rod however is weirdly more cheap despite being a limited exclusive unless that changes.Would reccomend if for Jolt alone.
God, I hope Transformers will stay alive.
It will unless takara and hasbro go under. The figures print money (save for the cheap gimmick ones they use as the excuse to keep bumping up the price of the standard ones).

With One underperforming at the box office
From what I've seen it looks like the higher ups actively want it to fail so they can reboot everything again for more live action movies starting with a crossover movie that probably won't do transformers or gi joe justice.

That's the twist, beast wars is technically part of g1. Talking about commander slots I'm stillpissed they started just putting main characters in haslabs that'd be commander class figures but lumped in extra smaller guys that vaguely homage other stuff. I think I griped about this before several times but haslab's descent from actual bi gshit like the sail barge and the somewhat half assed QC unicron which would normally be in a titan slot but
"oh no he's taller so it's 500 dollars" to "commander class later g1 character people wanted a figureof for years but he has like 3 minibots and a stand/chair 230 dollar PLEASEEEEE PREORDERTIMEGATE ONLY GUYSSSS!"
Every fucking day I get reminded of/think about it, the more I regret POTP deathsaurus losing the production vote a little more.

potp deathsaurus would be covered in stickers and would have had the weird evolution gimmick.
we where do starved for beast wars shit that we jumped on primal...if only we knew we would get kingdom 3 years later.

Once they knock out a few more beast modes it wont be hard for them to use those as the engineering needed to make more characters. Characters like Big Convoy can only be done like three times though. Which is enough for the commander for that year and some of the plan packaging characters we got every so often. Despite not liking shellformers, it made it easier to make a ton of characters back than and didn't have to worry about licensing vehicles. I'd much rather see more RID and Unicron stuff though.

would have had the weird evolution gimmick
Wouldn't have it any other way, honestly. Could be cooler than sticking primal on his own back given the whole chest thing deathsaurus already has.

My point stands, Jap Beast Wars is crap and so are the designs. Speaks to the misplaced priorities that we got Magmatron before Marvel-scaled/reasonable sized Fort Max and Scorponok.

Counterpoint: There is a squid guy that has an octopus mech he can go in.

I'm so fucking tired of shills shouting 'SUPPORT TFONE WE NEED A SEQUEL WE NEED TO LET THEM KNOW' nigger I was more willing to go see it without all the whining, now you're making me not want to even rent it.

Brand loyalty is so fucking gay.
Weirdly reminds me of the situation 9 fucking years back now? Jesus. Anyways, yeah. Genre's completely different, but this reminds me how when people found out the angry birds movie wasn't complete dogshit and kind of parodied some of the recent world events. There were some unironic deranged posts about how it was an important political statement to go and watch it and it made me averse to watching it in theatres lmao.

Isn't that thing crazy expensive these days too?
Yes and I hate that it is. I really wanted this fucking thing as a kid when I found out about it but evenn back then the scalpers were already kinda moving in from what I remember.

Looks like you can get the Tako Tank for a couple hundred on eBay
I'm gonna guess some of them are in fucked up condition due to the rubber arms, right? Or is this like TM2 megatron where somehow that shit just stays fine over the many decades it existed unless it's in a really filthy/dark place? I mean that doesn't matter to modern gouging resellers but you get me.

i fucking hate the current state of the franshise.
i walked into a store hoping to find something because the current movie and that the holydays are starting to come.
what did they stock?
earthspark deluxes. cases of nightsade packed side to side.
Much like a number of other toylines popular with both kids and adult collectors it really seems the shitty distribution and stocking is tied at least in part to shady backroom retailer deals between employees with ebay accounts. Usualy the only shit that makes it to shelf is every one of one specific figure despite them not being boxed like that. Earthrise/Kingdom Arcee was infamous for being used like this, but there's other cases too.
The 2 inch sonic figures are another example of shit like this. Every fucking target by me that stocks those has had the same running pose sonic figure for the last half a year now, and weirdly I've seen complaints about shit like that elsewhere lmao. Every other figure online is like 25-50 dollars despite it being shit you should be able to find in stores easy since they stock them in either a few areas in either electronics or some figure aisle, or on several little hooks at the checkout area. Nope. it's all just running sonic. Walmarts seem less prone to this for the 2 inch ones but more prone to it with the 4inch ones. Figures of every character and the only one that's ever stocked is the various default sonics from each wave gathering dust. Animal crossing amiibos were the worst case of this and they literally killed the designated amiibo shelf in stores.

i don't think it's that, where i live i see that b 127 and orion pax are used for the first wave of mainline movie figures.
that brings me to another thing: remember how packed the 07 toyline was?
now from the main cast we do not even get elita 1 and d 16 untill studio series, and elita is in 2025! how is it possible to have no real toyline for this movie and only have gimmicky shit and retools from toys made ten years ago?

but i can't complain, our dollar store always get every single wave of authentics.

Hasbro has admitted that their current marketing tactic is to make intentionally bad toys of the main characters so that, a few years later, when the kids who bought these toys become teenagers with more spending money, they can pony up for the $40 Generations release THAT SHOULD HAVE BEEN RELEASED AT FIRST!!! Of course, because said Generations release is mainly going to dust collectors and scalpers, it won't have any gimmicks or play features, and the alt modes will always be an afterthought. They don't care about good alt modes anymore because many of Transformers fans nowadays care more about the media than the toys, and in the media people connect more with the robot modes than the alt modes. The worst cases of this are exemplified by the trannies in the fandom since many of them are either extreme consoomers who buy every retool and every new version of common and popular characters just to chase the dragon of on-screen accuracy and nostalgia, or they own few/no toys and only care about the media (and cooming to it). All this means we'll never get a toyline as good as the 2007 toyline again because they outright don't care about the kids who would appreciate things like bank truck, cell phone, or rescue helicopter Transformers, and the adults they pander to just care about recreating their nostalgia, scalping, and the non-existent pinnacle of screen accuracy. That said, some of the TFOne gimmick toys are pretty cool -- I have the Megatron that shoots out the ball robot, and I've had lots of fun with it (it also meets my transformation complexity needs because it can be difficult to get the tank gun into place). It's also a lot more colourful and interesting to look at than the SS one, so it's a good toy. However, those weird ones that have stands you can rotate them on are dumb -- they barely transform, and battling them like that is something you can do in your imagination.

The dumbest thing is how.grwat of a setup they have to appeal to both kids and collectors, make an appealing and fun mainline with a line wide gimmicks for kids, accuracy be damned (because kids don't give a shit) and have the SS line be geared towards collectors, maybe pack in shit for more interesting display options, and have lines like legacy be a gateway for younger audiences to get into collecting. Instead they have three lines that try to each other and it becomes an absolute mess.
