Transformers general thread - Toy Robot men based on giant robots based on previously mentioned toys about said robots

Glad someone brought up Galvatron's Revenge and went into depth about it
all I really heard was the quality being low and optimus voice actor being a nazi with no further details given
I've only watched a short snipets and it looks shitty, even for fan animation standards but this much time and money that went into it is what boggles my mind the most with the end result

Optimus voiced by a guy with internet disease?

We got Spider-Man Lotus’d, kek

Anybody see Galvatron’s Revenge? It’s some fan made feature length film on YouTube that raised 13k USD on GoFundMe and was trying to be a sequel to Transformers Prime. Except the visuals are worse than the 90s CGI of Beast Wars and the writing worse than The Last Knight. Good on Carlos Barrantes (below) for not running off with the money and actually being autistic enough to release a full project.
I've heard of this project off and on for years, honestly surprised it actually reached a finish line and got released. That's more than most of these types of projects ever get. The fact it's hot garbage is actually fitting, given what a piece of shit TF Prime as a show ultimately was in essentially every measurable respect by the end.

Hopefully it's spiritual sibling: the fan-made sequel movie to TLK "Rise of Unicron" dies a stillborn death.

Where are you finding this fan-made sequel movie? Anytime I look it up it gives me either fake trailers or hypothetical concept artwork.

I heard about the project quite a while back - was expecting it to go into development hell or be dropped but it managed to be released. And frankly just cancelling the project or even pushing it back would've done it far more for it.

I admit, I was hoping it would succeed, but I have to agree that this wasn't worth the 8-10 years. Unfortunate all around, on and off set.

Anyway, what's the consensus on the Super7 TF figures? I'm digging Tracks for some reason...

The re-action ones from what i've seen are weirdly small compared to the other ones and are all overpriced via being 5poa kenner style figures. The super7 ultimates for transformers are either hit or miss and a lot more inconsistent than the other lines they have like that in terms of sculpt quality/articulation. I know a lot of figures' joints are cut in a way where they literally can't bend the way they're supposedto basically rendering posing useless save for some exceptions. Been on and off debating on waiting for a discount on g2 megatron because his arms can actually move, even if the alt expressions aren't consistently the same design.
basically from what I know they're basically less articulated slightly taller RED figures but with a more "consistent" style.

Seriously just look at where the arms are cut on the two lines you can get what I mean.

EDIT: looked at tracks, he's actually able to move his arms and legs a decent enough amount but the face is a lot less defined looking in photos compared to the stock renders. I'd say "get him if you want" if it's like not the full nearly 60 dollar price point these ultimates have as their MSRP.

I’m not a diehard collector or anything so take my opinion with a grain of salt, but I’ve always found super7 expensive for what you get.

That said, I’ve been eying that tiny super7 re-action Prowl only because he scales well with that cheap Chinese Mini Devastator, but I definitely won’t pick him up unless there’s a sale. $25-30 CAD is way too much for something that looks like I could feasibly spend a weekend 3D modelling and printing.

The Ultimates line does seem to have more articulation and the bigger size is cool, but like the R.E.D. line I’m lukewarm towards it at best. If I’m getting a non-transforming guy I’d rather sink my money into a model kit.

I can't edit my post so apologies in advance.

I'm pretty sure an old lady customer at work thinks I'm a devil worshipper because I have the Autobot insignia on the inside of my clipboard. It's small and black. If it was the Decepticon insignia I would kinda understand but its not. Note that she comes off as mentally unstable due to calling the goods we sell 'ungodly' (I work at a religious gift shop) and she frowns whenever I attend to her. High key gives me the lizard brain reaction to run, and if she were younger she'd definitely be a skitzocow on here.

Anybody else ever had any similar encounters? Or heck, even the opposite. As in, they were TOO into the fact that you like TF. To the point where you get Chris chan vibes or plain old unfiltered spergery.

Commander class Hook & Long Haul look really weird. Hook's legs look like the Combiner Wars version, Long Haul has stumpy baby arms. It's odd that some aspects of SS86 Devastator are cartoon-accurate to a fault like Bonecrusher having short arms and having no color breakup, and the treads being part of the torso, which results in the combined mode biceps being very skinny. Whereas other parts have been stylized like Hook's legs being completely different.

Edit: Mixmaster's arms sticking out the back of the leg awkwardly is disappointing considering that he is a voyager.

it's weird that none of the new combiners are doing it for me wile they are supposed to be the better versions.
with motormaster and the stunticons i could understand it because formind menasaur without the trailer is next to impossible while also looking right.

Legs and torso for Devestator looks good, but one arm looks skinner than the other, though that's on Scavenger's design. I feel like Mixmaster is mistransformed because it's an early testshot. Likely the arms are supposed to be down more but can't go down too much without sacrificing ankle movement. Hooks legs look like the should be the opposite direction however the box shows that if you did that the cab would be near the knee. Can't wait to see what the connection is there so we can hopefully get some custom legs.

I'm liking what I'm seeing for the most part, but Superion looks like it's not going to pose well thanks to the bots at the back of the legs. They stick out too much so he'll just have to be a brick.

The Ulimates are great for certain characters until we get some proper ones like Bludgeon and Tracks as Tracks still needs a decent figure. We'll never see Pretenders so I hope they do more of them. Could also use some Quintessons. 4in ReAction one is okay if you go for the smaller version of them, but we need a larger one.

On a side note, they're doing a MF Doom ReAction figure!

I kind of wish they'd just reissue the earthrise one, or at least make a new version that has the paint apps on the faces it's missing. Hell, release the box set one's color schemes before they scrapped and changed it last minute somehow. The jet base effect thing is too short on allof those, but I think if they extended it they'd inflate the thing to leader price.
Anyways I'm still glad I got one quintesson before scalpers started squatting on them for 70 something fucking dollars. Keep stalling on getting a custom base for it so it's not constantly toppling when I nudge wherever it's sitting at whatever given time the last few years. Two if you count the box set one I got around when that came out haven't opened yet despite aiming to at some point.

They should also do an official figure of this guy, be it reaction or ultimates or mainline or whatever. They managed to retool the alicon into the bailiff quintesson so this guy's probably doable via similar methods, though they'd need to do a severe ass retool.

Also goes without saying the one exclusive to the judgement pit set as a mini figurine to be used in the base mode of the quintesson should be released as a full sized figure someday. I missed a chance to get a 3d printed unofficial one in sandstone of all things a few years ago when shapeways was still alive and affordable. Genuinely baffles me with how varied and memorable the different quintesson designs are they just never make shit involving them with occasional exceptions like earthrise just dropping both the 5 head and alicon versions in one go or weird made up unrecognizable ayylmao shit like the transformers one quintesson figure.

EDIT: Oh, the transformers one quintesson has a quintesson styled face, so it is recognizable enough... but the rest of it's just kinda... yeah.

Cool design still but it could use a lot more color.

Ironically yolopark and that other company that's line goes by like 3 different names (blokks, buluke, blokees, all the same shit) the last year made articulated "model kits" in that general scale that are cheaper than reaction figures and are basically snap together simplistic figures. I already talked about them I think but it doesn't change the fact they're really nice albeit a bitof a painin the ass to find sometimes without some kind of upmark.

As far as I know right now only the latter has prowl but if you can take action master-y stylization that one's probably your best bet for scaling.

Well, are you? :smug:

Blokees come in those blind boxes right? They feed my gambling kick but I have horrid luck ahaha. I consistently pull the ones I want the least. Sure… I could buy the opened boxes, but that isn’t nearly as exciting, and I don’t really need that specific figure in my life. It’s kind of like the thrill of checking stores for gems among the shelfwarmers vs buying exactly what you want online.

However I did end up picking up yolopark Orion and D-16 since they were non-transforming anyway. They’re ridiculously huge (voyager height?) and disproportionately made of leg, but still looking pretty good when displayed. Joints are a little loose and/or inconsistent on my copies — the 20$ price point kind of shows with how often Orion pops in half like Sentinel in the movie. Putting them together was simpler than the Blokees.

They just don’t scale to anything but the Yolopark cogged bots in the same series. Can you tell I have an autistic need for my robots to be relatively sized????

Someone brought to my attention the existence of Newage Harry (who transforms!) who’s about the 3" size I’m looking for. Price is a little steep for such a little guy though, at about 40-50. One day…
