femboys ain't real and are an anime meme made into a "subculture" the last few years but tomboys are because it's a term used to describe a specific kind of person who has a certain kind of personality and is into certain hobbies rather than an aesthetic thing. Only thing those two got in common is people who aren't those things call themselves those things for social points online. I think though the types that do that and troons got shit in common because a lot of the stuff they do is specifically to improve social status.

Tomboy isn't something that needs a male equivalent because tomboy is shorthand slang verbage for a specific type of person in the same way soyboy is. I've noticed video essay people the last few years seem confused with the origin of soyboy and try and attribute it to a fucking katy perry song that referenced the term or the soyboy food brand instead of getting it's meant to embody the kind of fucker that'd chug hyper processed shit and screed at you about how you're wrong and it's actually healthy in the gayest holier than thou way imaginable.

The word for it was 'sissy.' It was always derogatory because the go-to insult for men (other than to call them a faggot) is to compare them to women ('bitch,' 'cunt,' 'pussy, 'you [verb] like a girl'), aka emasculate them, and there isn't a reverse equivalent, although most women wouldn't be too happy if you called them manly. And now it's a particularly foul porn category, and any new term you come up with for the same thing is likely to become one too because it's seen as degrading and perverts goon to that. The least loaded, but still somewhat derogatory, term is probably 'effeminate,' and then the marginally related very old fashioned semi-insult of 'dandy' that was coined in the midst of the Great Male Renunciation in the late 18th century when men suddenly decided that fashion was just a frivolous female thing and abdicated wigs, makeup, high heels, and colors, and the ones who weren't happy about it spent an inordinate amount of time styling their boring serious man uniforms until they looked fabulous anyway.
I think soft is probably the more correct term. Dandy is most correct but it's archaic. There is clearly a subset of men that have an affinity for less so called manly things. I think that's the real difference between a tomboy and a soft man. A soft man is not more feminine than a normal man he simply has a lower affinity for manly things.
