UN Turkey Just Lowered The Age of Consent To Twelve Years Old - R. Kelly Rejoices

The Turkish Constitutional court has lowered the age of consent to 12-years-old, prompting a dispute between Turkey and Austria after news of the decision was shown on tickers at Vienna’s international airport.

This summer, the Turkish Hurriyet reported:

“The Constitutional Court has ruled to annul a provision that punishes all sexual acts against children under the age of 15 as “sexual abuse,” stirring outrage from academics and women’s rights activists who warn that the decision will lead to cases of child abuse going unpunished.

This is fucking classic Islamist behavior and why more and more people are becoming skeptical of the term "Islamophobia." Even though "Islamophobia" has legitimate meaning in some cases (like when a woman who's wearing a hijab gets harassed even though she's not bothering anyone), Islamists are increasingly using the term to censor criticism of Islam. They know that accusations of racism will shut a lot of people up, so it's their "get out of jail free" card. In particular, Turkish officials have been using it a lot recently to try to censor criticism against their growing Islamic theocracy/dictatorship.

The idea of some poor 12-year-old girl being legally married off to and raped by some older man is revolting. There are no excuses for it.

It's really starting to lose it's true meaning to the point where real islamophobia will be brushed off by people who are sick of hearing it used for anything that might question a Muslim's actions or culture. The same thing happened with racism, sexism and ableism.

A lot of girls are going to suffer because of this. Islam has turned too many countries into backwards toilets. Then you have people like that Sudanese lady that left UK for Australia because "muh islamophobia" running around claiming it's a feminist religion. Islam needs a ton of reforms and less of a stranglehold on people's freedom in order to be seen as anything other than backwards at this point. It's not going to happen when extremists run the show and keep trying to maintain practices and beliefs that should have died off centuries ago. The other two major Abrahamic religions have advanced a lot. But Islam remains stuck hundreds of years behind in terms of human rights.
