I remember binging with babish making these

Love that guys channel, actually improves gross recipes whereas Hellthyjunkfood blast annoying music and shill their relationship status for donations.

Also I gotta find the stock music BWB uses, it's phenomenal.

But yeah, who thought allowing "I want my food to taste like grandma" leaking into the modern age was a good idea? Shit...

I’ve tried both the Fry’s version and the powdered version, and I think both were the rose flavored kinds which tasted like chewing on a leaf. I’d like to try a fruit flavored one, but it seems like you can only buy it in either a bunch or a humongous gross ton and not as just a few pieces.

Okay I got a couple of boxes of different flavors (pomegranate / pistachio and just chocolate) of some decent stuff.
Not bad. Not really something I'll go out of my way for probably but they're enjoyable sweets.

I have decided to reply to myself because I cannot edit this old ass post: Babitch is now a colossal faggot mongoloid who boldlines why I can't keep major e-celebrities in my subscriptions anymore, and he was incredibly lazy for not trying other documented takes on Turkish Delights that actually taste good.

I recently tried a pretty tasty loukoumi (Greek-style turkish delight) that was prickly pear fruit flavored. I've actually only had legit lokum pretty recently, before that I had only attempted to eat the Fry's version which was pretty weird. I think that one is rose-flavored and that's the only lokum I really didn't care for. Not into eating old-lady flavored things!

I can get the authentic stuff now at a cool Turkish coffeeshop that opened recently, plus some pretty great baklava. Turkish treats are goated👍

I love Turkish delights. They’re
prototype jellybeans.

A few weeks ago I had spearmint. I didn’t think I’d like it but it was actually good.
Mango was another one I recently tried.
You know a candy is good when people talk about what flavors it doesn’t go with. Even though I think Rosewater is pretty good. Coconut is also good.

Fuck I’m gonna make some this weekend.

lokum is good, but I prefer tavukgöğsü (pudding with pulled chicken breast) when I want to get fat

I found lokum at the Russian market today and I really like it. I've had the regular rosewater Turkish delight and it was okay, but this is way better.

this is gu.jpeg

It was that one, specifically. I don't know if it was mastic flavor or something else - the back just says 'flavor' and the front says 'classic'.

Pistachio baklavas are quite good.
It's gotta be Lebanese - the Greek one is 2sweet4me. All the Greek ones I've had drown it in honey, so all I really taste is honey and walnuts. Lebanese Baklava feels a bit more balanced - I can taste the buttery pastry, the nuts, and the sugar syrup.

Lokum is great with proper (i.e. Turkish) coffee. Bonus points if you find the kind of kafana where you get an ibrik and fildžan so you can pour your own coffee.

Christ i miss the Balkans sometimes...
