Turning Red thread

Female tweens seem to be the primary target. That is pretty clear. All the man children who are baffled by this, seem to be forgetting they aren't kids anymore. It's time to grow up. Kids movies aren't going to be trying to appeal to you anymore.
Really with the its for kids nonsense? Disney's stuff used to attempt to be universal, because the artists had to make it watchable for entire families, this stuff wasn't set up with the intention that a kid is gonna have an Ipad with a streaming service shoved in front of them so parents can do anything other than parent. They were theaters first, home media second. And in the beginning the latter basically did not exist. But even with Pixar existing nearly solely in the realm of the theater to home media model their entire existence, their first films were incredibly universal and actually had mass appeal. But with the advent of social media, mobile devices, the rise of the internet artists working to produce content for multimedia conglomerates seem to not even understand their own business model anymore. And the artists ego has become very selfish and self serving, somehow more than it used to be.

No, Disney was always for kids. The Disney Adults are not normal and well adjusted people. They need to grow up too.
The Disney Adult is also at fault for what Disney produces becoming this way, but at this point I do not assume it to be anything other than engineered. It is better to have a customer for life than a customer who pays for a 12 dollar ticket every few years.

I was going to point a quote about older Disney productions but it’s clear at this point you’re being contrarian for the sake of being contrarian so whatever. The Twilight Defense is always the dumbest route to take.

I will say it’s somewhat maddening that films like these draw in so many contrarian defenders nowadays. There’s like several threads on /co/ defending this movie for whatever reason.

"somewhat maddening"
I think you are getting too worked up over a film that doesn't cater to you on purpose. I never saw the film, don't care because it is not for me. I'm not even defending it, I just think its weird that it is causing so many grown men to chimp out. It clearly is for tweens.

All this over what people are saying is an ok to average film.

I’m not even getting worked up over it though nor did I ever say it had to cater to me? It isn’t even causing chimp outs, 90% of the responses have been just snark and mild disgust. I do think it’s weird how you clearly have no horse in this race yet you feel the need to tell everyone “It’s not for you, your criticism means nothing”. But then I remember your whole gimmick is being a contrarian so again whatever.

You just said you are finding it somewhat maddening that people aren't hating the film enough and some people actually like it. Do you have Turning Red Derangement syndrome?
That’s…that’s not what I implied at all. I’m just annoyed with contrarians defending for the sake of being contrarian; why am I responding, this is like your whole gimmick. I really should stop taking the bait.

You should probably charge me rent if I'm living that much in your head.

For such an average film, it really doesn't deserve this much attention and online sperging.
I barely even know you dude, just the weird takes you make even admittedly even weirder threads.

Really, the only reason it gets this much attention is because of astroturfed it seems to be. After the hype dies down it’ll be just another brick in the wall.

Man if they wanted to talk about bodies and puberty, why the fuck did they choose a red panda instead of a Tanuki?

It's not like Disney would be shy about ripping off established works before. Pom Poko isn't the best known Studio Ghibli film and Coco being so closely related to themes of The Book of Life didn't hurt it either.

A movie about an Asian guy going through puberty wouldn't get all the clickbait tranny writers fawning over it pretending they understand what its like to have a period.

I’m guessing it boiled down to something as simple as the director being of Chinese descent and making her lead Chinese, so they went with a small cuddly animal from China.
Having the Chinese Canadian turn into an animal associated with Japanese culture would attract the wrong kind of attention.

Anyone how watch the movie can confirm that the red thing is a allegory of "women hood" and there's a scene that the girl sell pictures and show everyone in the school the red thing? If yes, at least have a negative connotation or it's another cuties bullshit?
