Yeah I was just in the middle of doing a follow up post about that:

I wonder if it's related to the fuck up with the deployment system that took several days to fix last time. Also gotta love that update was delayed from it's usual Tuesday release due to a Swedish holiday and now they've up and called it quits for the night ~4 hours into the 6hr extension they announced. Given that sort of attitude it wouldn't surprise me if they don't work over the weekend meaning it won't be 'til this time next week that it is fixed. On the plus side for them they're gonna get a real good, early chance, to try out their stupid new compensation/grants method.

Love the record player count

There is straight up a non-zero chance they broke every one saves. I could see delaying releasing Year 5 release but straight having the game not playable for 24 hours (and probably longer)? Something is extra fucked right now and the Euro's can't / won't work over time to fix it.

It looks like the devs have fixed the shit they made yesterday.

We wuz Princes of Portia n shit!

I saw a comment on YouTube: "Why the zoomer haircut?"
this trailer is so peak ubisoft it fucking hurts...

so the prince of persia is running around with killmonger's hairstyle, because a marvel movie from 2018 is apparently something to go for now. does this mean he's persian and culturally appropriating the hairstyle, or does ubisoft want to imply a PERSIAN prince is black? won't put it past woke dipshits to think if egypt was black so must be the rest of the middle east....
combine that with the shitty music and gameplay you can see by the dozen these days from indies (without the woke ubisoft garbage) it's hitting fucking "how do you do fellow US coastal zoomers?!"

(Not) Beyond Good an Evil 2 using a dead IP skin announced:
Edit:It is from Massive Entertainment too, so The Division 2 players can rejoice with the workforce spreading thin with this and Avatar.

I'm kinda glad they fixed it, although the idea of them FUBARing everyone's saves and then having to explain it was kinda funny.

Been playing the update a bit and honestly it's kinda shit. Descent is boring as fuck and the rewards are absolute ass. The XP rework is a fucking joke and just replaced farming convoys with farming Public Executions. Not to mention they padded out the average increase using Blockades which got a 100%+ xp increase, except oh yeah there wasn't one this week on my map.

They somehow broke Determined yet again, so now it's back to the old full headshot damage and headhunter stacking on body shot , but only for regular Determined, not the Perfect version. The new exotic AR got nerfed because you can't build stacks for more shock ammo, while you have shock ammo, and if you switch weapons you lose all stacks (not that that stopped PVP sweats spending between $75-$90 to get it right away so they could gank people easier in the DZ that little bit sooner) Also we now have mysterious TODO gearsets, to go with the TODO cosmetics we've had in basically every other season

I actually did like that they changed the manhunts from just a list of objectives to a more flowing story of trying to hunt down a person at various locations. (And in this case its trying to rescue people).

But of course in true Ubisoft fashion the new NPC with voice lines Is a bug eyed, fat, black women.

Its 6+ months plus after the fall of the US there arn't gonna be any fat people around.

Highlights :
-Avatar is basically Farcry with blue people.
-Pajeet takes 5 minutes to reveal Cyberpunk 2077 anime at home.
-They created a shanty to game in development hell.
-Star Wars Outlaws is a cinematic cover shooter.
-Ubisoft is the only gaming company who still makes on-stage events in front of a fake audience in current year.

So this Youtube/Twitch guy named Hutts got invited with a gaggle of other people out to Montpelier to look at the new PoP: Lost Crown game. Even he seemed confused on why, considering his whole shtick is playing Binding of Isaac and other Roguelike stuff. But apparently Metroidvania is the direction they're taking it.
(No, I don't know why he put on the dumbest expression for the thumbnail.)

Some notes:
  • Producer says that they wanted to "task some risk" and "respect the legacy of PoP, but [..] that it was very important to bring new stuff to the brand", Director says they wanted to be "smart and humble with the game." Montpelier is the branch that did the Rayman stuff, so that's partially why they stuck with the 2.5D design as their strength, but since it's been 10 years since Rayman Legends, hard to say how much talent is still there. Lot of lip-service to the "legacy".
  • Don't play as the prince, but he's in the game, and was kidnapped.
  • Time powers are in, somewhat. Some areas will be broken apart and by hitting switches/rifts, you can reverse them to be restored, with the different configurations giving different paths. You also get special moves by filling up a meter through doing damage (which seem to cause framerate drops in the demo). Another ability lets you recall yourself back through time to a point, but doesn't rewind the rest of the world.
  • Combat seems to put a heavy emphasis on parrying alongside the expected dodging, setting you up for counters/finishers. You get a health potion "each time you save", so I'm guessing they're doing a Dark Souls-style estus flask system.
To me, it just looks very cheap, but these kind of sponsored videos on pre-release junk usually do. I don't have high hopes for it, but it looks better in motion with a fitting soundtrack than that god-awful trailer they put out.

The actress for Jade from Beyond Good and Evil passed away in 2017 (?) after being sick for a long time. Sad. She was great and I remember she was in Code Lyoko.

Ubisoft will use Avatar and Star Wars to get Ubisoft+ subscriptions on PC:
I'm not entirely surprised. Like anyone with their own distribution platform they want to try and force people into using them to avoid having to give anyone else a cut. Avatar and especially Star Wars are probably pretty the best IPs they're gonna have to do that with since they both come with large audiences of consoomers who'll likely go with it. Kinda surprised Epic isn't willing to throw cash at them to get a Ubi+/Epic exclusive like they did with some previous games, although I don't follow Epic news much so it's entirely possible they've given up on their godawful store and stopped throwing money at people to make them use it.

Also because it's maintenance and patch day for The Division 2, naturally they had to balls it up yet again. I'm pretty sure since they announced they were making content again, there's been issues starting apparel events every single time.

* can't have Current Year game without crowbarring a nigger in where they don't belong
* DuDe In DiStReSs, LoL We ArE bReAkInG tHe MoLd!!1!1!!111!
* rehashing mechanics that worked from a previous game without any consideration for why they worked in that game
* make it like Dark Souls, le kids love Dark Souls hon hon hon
* "respect the legacy"

Anyone betting this won't be goyslop trash is a fool. There's a small chance it won't be a flaming bundle of useless programming, but odds of it being a decent narrative are already less than zero.
God has abandoned us, and we'll never get a proper resolution to Prince of Persia '08.

current next fest already has more 2d metroidvanias/hacknslash for all tastes that make me look forward to their release (laika is pretty good with an interesting spin, even ebeneezer with it's literally old-school big rooms of nothing levels are more fun) than WE WUZ PRINZES. the only thing it had going for it was the brand and they fucked that, the rest I can get better elsewhere.

after epic poisoned the well people are even less inclined to deal with that bullshit. fucking EA already tried that, with games people actually looked forward to and have an established playerbase, and they STILL came back to steam. if ubisoft unironically believes people are willing to deal with their shit (which isn't even good anymore now that ubi rewards etc. got nerfed and gimped) for some nuwars, another hasbeen franchise, while EA couldn't make fucking battlefront work at the heights of the hype, all those mouldy cheese must have really affected their brain.
