The Division Heartland has been cancelled, despite being in a playable state with public betas and a leaked rating in Taiwan. The reason? XDefiant (which has major quality issues and has been delayed over a year due to having bugs that preclude it from passing cert on at least one of the two consoles) and AC are better bets...
the sony strategy will surely work for ubisoft... :story:

So I'm genuinely confused. I think both will/would have been shit, Heartland probably better. But they cancelled a nearly complete game with clearly way more resources put into it to save a game which seems to be Ubisoft just throwing all their assets into one thing with the most basic cookie cutter shooter gameplay possible and seeing what happens. What the fuck is going on at Ubisoft?
ubisoft is a company staffed by people who know fuck all about videogames and are just there for the clout and name on the CV. there might be some genuine gamers, but those get no say since they're just white(ish) nerds, not DEI hires.
that's how you get the utterly nonsensical direction and slop over slop with zero creative spark or soul.

I get that but it genuinely doesn't make sense in anyway. Heartland advertised itself as a free to play pvpve survival looter extraction game. Pvpve looters are currently in pretty high demand since the Tarkov mess and the poor launch of that one Tarkov clone, which still sold well despite being barebones, buggy, terrible dizzying graphics, and generally boring. Infact releasing around now would have been probably the best possible time to release it especially with it being free to play.

XDefiant meanwhile has nothing going for it. The first person shooter pvp game market will be oversaturated till the end of time and any new ones usually have a cool gimmick to sell people on. Like the finals with their destructible environments and unique game modes. The only gimmick XDefiant seems to have is the ability to play characters from all your least favorite forgettable Ubisoft IPs.

Even for the most retarded corporate drone I don't see how any of this makes sense or what metrics they used to make this decision, unless there were insanely extreme issues with Heartland.

The only thing I can think of is some one figure it would be better to eat the cost and cannibalize as much assists as possible for The Division 3. Just reuse as much as possible to speed up the development of Division 3.

So, are any of Ubisoft's games really worth playing these days? Because after some of Ubi's recent shit - "gamers need to get used to not owning games", the political pandering, overall poor quality, etc. - I can't really thing of any of Ubi's games that are worth a purchase. I mean, I already played a bunch of their older stuff like Watch Dogs and some of the better Assassin's Creed titles; anything you guys would suggest?
Anno series if you are into strategies but buy in on Steam.

I bailed on Anno after enjoying 2070 then getting a physical copy of 2205 and finding out they effectively removed combat and made everything happen on different maps you have to load between instead of a single map with everything happening on it and AI factions building and doing stuff. Did they ever decide to go a good direction with that series?

2205 is basically the worst of all series. 1800 though is perhaps the best Anno to date. They remade the several maps things and made the game more complicated (at least till the last year dlc). The combat is naval only. While I rarely purchase any games, I purchased full edition of 1800 and have no regrets (should have purchased it on Steam though).

#MeToo really allowed the worst elements to get rid of every creative in the company.

Splinter Cell fans are upset that XDefiant is the only recent recognition that Splinter Cell has received from Ubisoft.

Incorrect. Call of Duty fans will migrate over to XDefiant because it plays like legacy CoD. It looks like CoD with Overwatch abilities as a hero shooter. Whether they'll stick around remains to be seen. If CoD now wasn't shit, you'd be right.

Fair, I guess I don't hang around the call of duty type crowd much. I don't see the appeal over this and the hundreds of other Call of duty/csgo clones though.

How is legacy CoD different from the current CoD? I haven't been keeping track cause the last CoD I played was on the Xbox 360.

sheeeit, we wuz da OG Gangsta samurai's. Asian boiz and whyte (yt) (Devil) (eggyolk) (unseasoned) "ppl" mus bow down befor us or we finna 2 kill yo niggas.

As someone who's been itching for a call of duty like game to at least be somewhat competitive and kill other players in I will bite the bullet and download Ubisoft shooter when it comes out and I'll report back with what kind of steaming pile of mess it is

Current CoD is akin to a Marvel Centered Universe since MW2019. Every CoD must connect with each other through convoluted storytelling. Multiplayer has no consistent theming thanks to overprice, extravagant bundles and celebrity cameos. Matchmaking is tied to an algorithm that gauges your "skill" compared to other players. The reality is that if you do well one match, be prepared to get matched up with pro players.

Has there been ANY buzz about XDefiant , a game that is releasing tomorrow? I am curious but know nothing and have seen nothing about it.

Good question. The comments from the Ubisoft channel mention that the game will be DOA. Meanwhile, a couple CoD YouTubers will mention XDefiant as a "return to form" for the arcade FPS since they're burnt out of CoD beyond content. Time will tell.

I saw a random video with the title saying it's a bad game. Otherwise, nah.
