Love the little warning too in the Ubisoft Client:

OH REALLY.

Thank you Ubisoft for not trying to gouge my wallet for five minutes.

What's the point of a beta then?
Beta's are just advertisements at this point and if they suck/don't work you have a whole army of simp's just claiming "ITS JUST BETA, IT WILL BE FINE AT RELEASE".

The only online game I've seen in the last 5 years to actually treat a "Beta" as a thing to get feedback from has been The First Descendants.

What's the point of a beta then?
Any modern video game "beta's" purpose fits into multiple or one of these categories.

  • Encourage people to buy overpriced $90 pre-order super deluxe edition packs.
  • Cut out some content during the beta like p2w stuff and a few maps. Trick people into thinking there's going to be way more content once the game exits 'beta' in a week. But the 'beta' is actually pretty much the whole game. Creating some sort of illusion that this game is really actually for sure totally going to be good on launch.
  • Find really bad bugs, like money making exploits and really bad cheats. But that's about all they'll fix before launch. They'll usually reset progression on launch so I'd imagine in most f2p games this is the main focus.

Ubisoft's stock dropped 17% to $20 a share after the trailer for we wuz samuraiz and shieeet dropped.

Can't wait to see what this does.

Who would like me to make a first impressions of XDefiant? If I can get more than one game an hour. Ubisoft says there's an outage happening with their XDefiant servers.

I'd be interested. I'm curious if the actual shooter gameplay is any good.
I jumped in and played a few games after work and the matchmaking held together for me. Actual gameplay feels pretty solid-- fast movement, low ttk, quick respawns. The different abilities felt useful but not too OP with the possible exception of Eschelon's ability to reveal all the enemies in their vicinity.

Downside is EVERYTHING about this game is trying to sell you something. Battle pass, season pass, weapon skins, character skins, nameplates, emotes, etc etc.

I love PoP trilogy, Tarzan game, early Rainbow Six games, AC games until 3 with the obvious exception of Black Flag(even tho it has some gay shit in it). They really play big part why I'm addicted to vidya but this company cannot possible suffer as much as they deserve on this plane of existence.

I just pray , Allah willing, when you gargantuan faggots burn in hell for eternity, I will get to watch it(preferably from heaven but hey I'm not picky)

I will be quite pissed if I go to hell for this joke but I have faith that Allah has better sense of humor than the cucks at ubishit

it's simple and it's fun. I do like some of the maps a lot but it's big gripe is that this menu is gummed up with a fucking store.

Okay, I have a few hours with XDefiant. Will do first impressions/review of it soon.

That being said: XDefiant has hit registration issues. For a shooter, that is bad.

I had a feeling this was the case on the hit detection. After playing up to level 10 and unlocking a few things after a handful of hours, I have some impressions.

- All starting weapons are dogshit without higher level attachments, but quickly get replaced by weapons that are just flat-out better. Be prepared to get shit on by people who have unlocked more than you at first.

- Enemies are very bullet-spongey and feel more like shooting into a health bar than a target. It reminds me a lot of something like Overwatch or Paladins.

-Maps and character roster are made up from other Ubisoft titles such as Watch Dogs, Far Cry, Rainbow Six, and Splinter Cell. Map design is alright, nothing that's glaringly shit (save for some of the push-the-payload aka "Escort mode).

If I had to compare it to anything, it's like a worse version of Black Ops 3 with equally shitty money practices. It feels like one of those old F2P shooters like Soldier Front or Combat Arms with a shiney coat of paint with Ubisoft properties.

I wish I could give them points for putting Splinter Cell stuff in, except for the fact there hasn't been a new Splinter Cell in 11 years despite all the DLC shit and cameos they want to poke in their other properties.
