Undertale

  • 🔧 At about Midnight EST I am going to completely fuck up the site trying to fix something.
...I knew I'd find this eventually.

I'm getting that Collector's Edition for that sweet, sweet locket. I bought the game on a whim a couple months ago, and just. Absolutely adored it. A hell of a lot more than I thought I would, since the fanbase turned me off pretty early. I got really into the story and the characters and just all of it. Plus, I think it's got a kickass soundtrack.

Cue :autism: but I cried so many tears over it the first time I finished it, and that was just doing the True Pacifist ending. I intend to go back and do a Genocide run eventually, but oh god it's going to wreck me so bad

I recently played a genocide mode run- man, it about broke my heart. The game really goes out of its way to hammer home how much of a terrible person you are.

I've been pretty critical of Undertale since it came out, and have avoided it like the plague. Most of that stems from the fanbase. I don't see as much sperging as I used to, though, so I've been thinking about biting the bullet and giving it a try. I don't care about spoilers, so I've been reading up on the story and it actually seems like something I might enjoy if I can disassociate myself from the horrible fanbase. If nothing else, it certainly seems like it'd be better than Autistic Jump Scare Simulator Five Nights at Freddy's.

It's a fun little indie game that has a lot of heart to it, even considering the spergy fanbase I still love it.

Preorders dropped at the wrong time for me, so no pretty locket over here. However, I did end up preordering the PS4 digital version (that one's only $15), and I love the theme that comes with it. The music is peaceful, the dynamic bit of it is really cool, and the friend icon is a dog face. It's adorable.

Side note: I started Genocide. I'm barely into Snowdin and I already feel like an asshole. Napstablook immediately disappeared when I approached him, and I one-shotted Toriel. The fact that the music just collapses into a slow, dreary version of what it's supposed to be is really creepy, but I think that's a pretty neat idea.

So I got my preorder in and opted for the digital art book. It was pretty interesting to read, though I've included the section I found the best with some highlights:

Is it a good thing or a bad thing that I can still be interested in this game even with all the bullshit that comes along with the fandom and others?
Might be considered a yes. I think some fnaf fans will ask the same question too.

Can we Classify Matpat as a Lolcow yet?
I hope so

I think a sequel would ruin the original games quality imo. Where else could you go with the storyline? and more importantly, there's huge, huge shoes to fill at that point because Undertale proved itself to be so good.

Its possible, sure, but looking at everything we got here, I wish Toby Fox the best of luck on his future endeavors.
post-genocide pacifest run? Where frisk has to fight off their dark side or some shit. There is also the mystery of the magicians talked about in the intro.

I'm thinking about starting genocide too
chicken out and reset after i defeat sans. like a bitch.

So it seems for the fights that require the game to close and be reopened, the game just auto restarts instead of closing.

Also might as well add that there's a brand new area.

Shamelessly double posting to say that Undertale just got an update today, Japanese language is in, I just found soundfiles of "Dog Shrine" in my Undertale folder and i'm trying to see if Toby Fox added in the Dog Shrine for the PC version along with any other changes I can find.
