I feel quite mixed on chapter 2, on one hand I didn't really like the Queen character that much, and how the game kept insisting on referring to Kris by the stupid they pronouns whereas in the first chapter (at least the original website download, it was probably changed in the steam release) it just called him by his name, which I felt was fine as it kept it ambiguous while not taking me out of the story like the insistence on they did.
Petty, I know, but it just came off strangely forced considering that never happened in chapter 1 which I literally played through the day before release, which is probably why it threw me off so much. I wonder if the new staff had anything to do with the writing change? The Noelle and Susie stuff came off quite forced as well, I kept wishing the game would just move on already, especially when it started dragging with the ferris wheel part.
The gameplay however I really enjoyed this time, which was surprising as the gameplay was the weakest part of undertale for me, I would say this is the best incarnation of the undertale battle system by far, I really liked the secret boss that made use of the yellow heart shooter stuff, which was genuinely criminally underused in undertale, I hope that comes back more often in future chapters. I also really like what the ending sets up, It'll be interesting in chapter 3 to just straight up have the characters wake up in the dark world due to it and wondering what the fuck happened and how the knight got into Kris's house while the knight is right there infront of them.
edit: god I hope Chapter 3 don't use the "oh you're just dreaming, no reason to question this" copout for Toriel like this one did for Noelle and Berdly, that would be so fucking lame to have happen two chapters in a row. It was lame in this chapter too, but it'd just be extra shit to have two times in a row.
