At least, we see what a [[Cungadero]] is. Also we can see the complete version of the worn off poster in the trash dump.

Something that caught my attention here is that Spamton really was an Addison as implied by his former friends in the Trash Zone, which has some pretty horrifying implications. Did he die in the acid and become a ghost inhabiting a robot/mannequin/puppet body like Mettaton? Or did he turn into a puppet once he made that Faustian bargain with whoever made him a [BIG SHOT!] like in that one episode of Courage the Cowardly Dog?

There are so many questions I want answers to and knowing Toby I'm probably not getting any of them.

He didn't die or "turn into a puppet" his life went on a downward spiral following the betrayal of some dude that helped him get big, a spiral that eventually ended up with him living in a god damn garbage can. It's more of a "metaphorical" kind of puppet thing though the visuals are somewha there with his sprites it's more of just a stylistic thing. it's kinda obvious from the getgo he's just a short addison, they're the only characters with that kinda face as far as I know. He just gets more detail because instead of a generic npc he's a named character. His [[best wacky salesman]] speech quirk thing more or less a blatant way he hides his or channels his pain/anger. He drops it every once and a while when he gets serious.

He didn't die or "turn into a puppet" his life went on a downward spiral...

He shows similarities to both Addisons as well as mannequins. More so to the mannequin, since his nose and chin are a lot bigger and his torso is longer than the other Addisons and he has a non-geometrical hairstyle.

As for the ghost theory, Big shot has the "mad dummy" leitmotif during 1:47-1:49 and 2:17-2:20, which itself is an upbeat remix of "ghost fight" and we know that Toby takes his leitmotifs seriously. So the ghost theory is extremely plausible.

It should also be noted that Mad Dummy and Ghost Fight are the themes of Mad Dummy and Napstablook respectively, who are both Mettaton's relatives, and this leitmotif is in the fight where Spamton has merged with Mettaton's digital drawing of his "NEO" form. It's possible this leitmotif is also supposed to apply to Mettaton while he is still a ghost, as he has not yet "turned corporeal" as ghosts tend to do when they have found an identity.

It took me a while to notice how many similarities there are between Spamton and Mettaton, but now I'm fully convinced that they're each other's game counterpart:

- Both names end in -ton.
- Both want to transfer themselves into the perfect EX/NEO body, which looks almost the same in both games.
- Both have a similar haircut and the same colour scheme with them having pale white skin, black hair and clothes and pink armor/glasses. And the official artwork shows that Mettaton also has one yellow eye, just like Spamton.

- Both have a very similar personality, with them being self-absorbed and desiring adoration, power and fame.
- Both were defeated by phone calls, in their own ways.
- Both have the same battle mode where you have to fight as a yellow soul and specifically aim for their hearts.
- Both Spamton mannequin and box Mettaton wear the same blue dress.

- Same suit, too.

- Both have very similar battle text talking about performance, stagelights and audience.
- Both are unkillable in their defensive form and their first battles you have to give correct responses to win.
- "Big Shot" incorporating melody from "The power of NEO" and "Ghost fight".
- Mettaton sold a bunch of merchandise with pictures of his face on it. His counterpart was even more successful at that.
- Both are among the few characters, along with Flowey and Jevil, to use voiceclips.
- Maybe reaching a bit, but Mettaton installed a statue of himself on a fountain. And in the Weird route Spamton fights you at a fountain.
- And, perhaps, even more crackpot-y, but a Metatron is a powerful angel in Judaism, and Spamton's greatest wish is to soar above his shackles and reach Heaven.

...By the way, is Mettaton the first character to have a different Lightner and Darkner counterpart? Is this foreshadowing telling us not to assume that a character from UT can correspond to just one character in DR?

Yeah that's basically what crossed my mind when I saw Spamton. Good to know I wasn't the only one who thought Mettaton's name was suspiciously similar to Metatron's too. It makes sense - Metatron was a human who ascended to become an angel, and that's essentially what Spamton tries to become, and with the imagery involving angels and heaven I wouldn't be surprised if that was a deliberate move on Toby's part.

Mettaton IS indeed present in Deltarune, however he doesn't show his face and is still in ghost form. You can talk to him after finishing chapter 2 in the skewed bluegreen house in the town and he will ask you to bring something that makes him happy tommorow (chapter 3).

As for the connection between spamton and mettaton, Swatch mentions that a lightner created that body before it was discarded. Many people theorize that this lightner was mettaton.

Also the tarot cards are not official art. It was initially fanart, toby liked it very much and made a partnership with the artist. Famously for example Toby asked the artist to get rid of the Gaster card.

With Spamton's heavy connections to characters like Mettaton (and less so Mad Dummy), I wonder if all the bonus bosses will have some sort of implied connection with a light world character (or group of characters). If so then I'm not sure who Jevil would correspond with.

I'm aware of that, but I feel there are too many similarities to just brush them off. I think, with some characters, it's not exactly like they have a single, 1:1 counterpart in each game (except for Sans, who's the only one to keep his original sprite and music). Like how, apparently, Frisk and Chara together correspond to a single character in DR, but for Asriel it appears to be the opposite - one character in UT has two different counterparts in DR: adult Asriel and Ralsei.
I guess I answered my own question.
