Jannies are absolute idiots, but the community is way too autistic for its own good, a few of them are probably low-functioning. The kind of that can't separate reality from fiction :medallion:, and gets too attached to characters. In the end, it doesn't surprise me if he is getting demoted for not being a good tard-wrangler instead of politics.
I wonder how much he was getting paid.
I would have demoted him for not voting for our boy.

A new newsletter just dropped! Here are the highlights:
  • Toby briefly talks about his recent shitposting on Bluesky, with zero passive-aggressive whining about Twitter (I have to point this out because Bluesky users are usually physically unable to not whine about Twitter every chance they get), and his posts are archived through Fangamer "in case [Bluesky] flies away". Lol. Lmao.
  • Chapter 1+2 has had a beta release on Steam for a while testing GameMaker's new game_change() function and it's generally worked well, but now new bugs resulting from having to update GM have popped up and are gradually being fixed. He also said that they will need to update GM again at some point for future chapters. Not "might", "will"; implying they're already talking with GM about more new engine features?
  • The PC version of Chapter 3 is completely done, all that's left are console-related aspects.
  • Chapter 4's first Japanese translation pass was just finished, and it will be "some months" before the final translation is complete. After that will be PC testing, then console testing. As a reminder, PC+console and English+Japanese will release simultaneously.
  • One of the text translation examples shows Berdly asking someone to go to the festival with him. From the way it's worded, I'm guessing Susie?
  • Chapter 5 is going well, it's mostly new hires working on it while old hires are fixing bugs in earlier chapters.
  • They/them pronouns for Seam because apparently he wasn't definitely undoubtedly male.
  • Toby collaborated with Camellia on a song for Sega's upcoming rhythm game, Chunithm. It is, at Sega's request, similar to The World Revolving.
  • Chapter 3+4 will definitely still release in 2025.

Chapter 3 could've probably been out in 2023 if it wasn't for the release multiple chapters at once bullshit. I'll never understand that. The best thing to do would have been to release 1 chapter at a time and give people time to hype, speculate, theorize, and find all the secrets, instead of the current method of releasing multiple chapters so there's less of that and more time digging through all the shit at once.

Let's not forget that the original intention was to release chapters 3-5 simultaneously, and before that, we were supposed to only get Chapter 1, then wait until the rest of the game was done. Could you imagine having only one chapter for a decade? :o

This is something I don't like about Toby, he surrounds himself with tumblr landwhales and gets toxic influence from them. Case in point, when he said that his "testing team" were grossed out by Spamton and called him creepy (source), but Spamton became an instant hit with the fanbase and the best thing about chapter 2. At the same time most of the fanbase don't give a shit about the overdrawn susie x noelle storyline except the minority of tumblr dykes, some of which push Toby.

Toby is at his best when he's doing his signature creative storytelling and not writing schlickfic for tumblroids, I hope this post was a one time unfunny joke and not the sign of more tumblrification and spergouts to come

Ugh. I know that feeling all too well. The company he keeps is beyond dangerous.
I'm very impressed by his ability to evade drama.
All we can do is just hope that he continues to understand how to make a funny game.
I was certain that Chapter 2 was going to be a giant bomb but was very pleasantly surprised by the results. This release seems much less uncertain but the threat of disappointment invariably looms in the background.
At this point I'm essentially bound to see it through to the end - even if that eventually becomes out of morbid curiosity.
I could only forsee myself stopping if it gets extremely tedious and boring. That doesn't seem like Toby's style.
I almost feel like a hypocrite for making fun of Steven Universe fans but it's nowhere near comparable as of now.

I wonder how delusional one has to be in order to come to the conclusion that this white puppet with colored glasses is gross and creepy. Like oh my god he scams people for a living, and has wires hanging out of his back in the EX fight, pure creepypasta reddit wholesome material right here.

It's blatant projection at that point.
