Undertale

I happy that CHADgore has shifted 90% of the deltarune dialogue from pronouns to vanposting memes.

I thought Kris was Non-binary not trans.

Also Le Transphobic soul is literally saving 2 worlds from oblivion and making Kris get bitches, I think calling Kris he is permitted.

Before us Kris was a creepy loser with no friends that canonically talked like a whiney little bitch. Now he's a literal chosen one prophesized badass hero that even Susie thinks is good at flirting. He went from chud to chad literally overnight because we chose to make him so.

Kris himself never declares any gender identity, nor does he state any preferred pronouns. These people are literally assuming Kris's gender identity based solely on how other people refer to him. This is disrespectful according to their own rules. Which they of course disregard when it's convenient for them to force their headcanon that the main character is a heckin' enby on the world.

and of course they get REALLY mad if you call them pronoun nazis. its only okay when they're the ones being anal about it.

Odd how people only ERM AAACHSUALLY when you call Kris "he" but never bother to correct you if you say "she".

I also find it funny that Kris canonically being like 16 means that even if he is non-binary at the time of the story, there's a 99% chance that it's just a phase that he'll grow out of anyway. Dude is in fucking high-school, how many people who declared themselves non-binary in high school stuck with that stupid shit for life?

Of course, these schizos don't want to face reality.

I know nothing about this game other than the first 2 minutes but i have always wondered, what exactly is the reason that everyone who's obsessed with it is an obnoxious faggot?
It starts with Undertale. General time it was released, main source of its online following, as well as how the story was structured from a mechanical standpoint. It was released at a time where tumblr was still a thing in a way that actually mattered to some degree. Its main fanbase back then was located on tumblr. While there's different routes you can take in the game, the game's main story was built on the foundation that you practiced complete pacifism, and it was possible to kill characters involved with the story and they'd just gone for good.
Because of this, tumblr quickly formed the idea that there was a "objectively correct" way to play the game, and if you didn't do completely perfect pacifism you were doing it wrong. Markiplier accidentally killed a big character at the start and was met with a lot of backflash from obnoxious faggots so he just didn't touch it again.

Undertale's fandom migrated to Deltarune once it was released, and that "objectively correct" mindset was still sticking around, despite the story not being nearly to the point that you could just accidentally kill off main characters and it's just altered for good.
As observable with lots of other demographics, nothing can ever get "better", because that involves conceding ground. So rather than screaming about an objectively correct way to do the story (since it was more lax this time), they start screaming about things like Kris's gender and whether Susie is canonically gay and other stupid things like that.

I have YET to see someone past the age of 18 who go by they/them pronouns. 20 years from now those niggas are gonna look back at those years and think "Wow, I was a major faggot back then" and then move the hell on with their lives.

:wow:, actual discourse in this thread, and little to no derailment about Kris being or not being non-binary.

He's 100% male, I think that Toby keeps up the they/them stuff because:
  1. Self-insert thing from Undertale (easy to pull off since Frisk never speaks a word except for our prompts, plus he/she is just a blobulous child). For Deltarune, this was probably kept to not piss off these loud freaks that make up a good chunk of the Undertale/Deltarune fandom.
  2. Being optimistic here, but the they/them stuff is done in Deltarune to be a sort of double entendre: Kris is not a single person, but rather one person that seems to be hosting at least another (the player, via the soul).
Speaking of multiple souls or people in one, this theory video blew my mind a few years ago when I stumbled upon it, not sure if it's been shared here:

Frisk in Undertale is not one person nor two people (Frisk and the player/soul), but rather:

  • Chara (the animated corpse of the first child, awakened in the Genocide route, or forever dormant in neutral/pacifist)
  • The player (somehow in control of Chara's human body via the soul)
  • Asriel (Not Flowey, but rather the real Asriel, fused with Chara's soul)

2nd, I'm really starting to believe the whole theory that the game is covering a 2nd attempt at the prophecy.

I never considered that. It really would have to be the 2nd attempt, or at least one of the first ones. If it were the 20th attempt or something, Ralsei would probably be a completely broody, miserable person who was doomed to loop the events of Deltarune forever, so he wouldn't even entertain trying to escape his fate. But in chapter 4, he still has big hopes that they can still change the prophecy for something better. The Kris save file at the start of the game is such as hint as well for a subsequent loop.

Ralsei is such a fucking enigma in the game. He's supposed to be prince over this dark world but no one knows who the fuck he is, always appears when you need him, and doesn't follow the turn to stone rule that the other characters do (although chapter 3 made that a clusterfuck with its jokes).
From the video I mentioned above, my theory is that, if Deltarune parallels Undertale so much, then doesn't that mean that Asriel is already dead and fused with Kris' soul?

This would explain a lot of things:
  • Nobody has seen or heard of Asriel, they just know he's in college. We don't even know if he calls home or not.
  • Asriel always shows up in every chapter sooner or later.
    • What I don't understand is why he takes a while to come up to Kris and Susie. I assume he spawns in with Kris, but is he far away because the soul isn't on-screen when entering the worlds? Is the soul elsewhere when not visible?
  • Asriel can not turn to stone (he's just a part of Kris)
  • Explains why Asriel is a lonely prince with no subjects (he is trapped within Kris' soul, i.e. the "cage").

Gradually going through Snowgrave and a couple (probably old) austim things I noticed that I haven't seen mentioned:

1. No screenshot of this but what's the weird little grid with markings in the lower right corner of the file load screen for chapter 2? I don't know if it's there all the time or only at specific savepoints, but I never noticed it before and spotted it resuming my game saved in the entry hall of Queen's castle on the snowgrave route (the one at the statue's feet).

2. I think it's safe to say Ralsei is something being carried by Kris specifically but I feel if it was the fake horns they'd be in his inventory in the light world. When you reenter castle town at the end of Ch2 (probably other times too) and get the transformation animation an oversized star shoots off him at the end and flies off the top of the screen rather than fading, and the whole effect looks extremely similar to the infamous addition you get in the Super Metroid ending if you go out of your way to save the animals.

3. I'm throwing in my vote for the theory posted about the prophecy repeating over and over with different actors in the roles and snowgrave being the only real ending being the correct one. Talked to Seam again at the end of chapter 2 to see what his dialog would be given there's no secret battle on the snowgrave route and he gives some strange multiverse-hinting dialog and somehow comes up with a second shadow crystal anyways even though you didn't actually pick one up that chapter, so I assume the only way to actually get all five crystals on snowgrave is to have played through the normal route at least up until the point where you take down spamton and turn his crystal in.

I haven't done Snowgrave, but I noticed that for the first time the other day after I finished Chapter 4. I was going to ask about it, but figured it had to do with what optional content had been done.

Kris definitely has the ability to hide things from us in his inventory. Don't forget, he's always carrying a knife with him that we can't interact with.

That's to tell you if you have shadow crystals for each chapter's saves, in case you decide to have a run with or without them but can't remember which save has them
