I remember this weird 'S' Symbol I used to draw in school (Picture attached) I randomly remembered it today and want to know if anyone has any idea where it came from? I badly want to figure out its origins

It has a wikipedia page, a vice article and a knowyourmeme page

Even here in Europe we drew that thing in school. Honestly, no idea what the exact origin is. Even the aforementioned article and wikipedo/KYM pages are unclear about its origin.

Apparantly called the Stussy S because it was said the company Stussy used it as its logo in the 90s and 2000s, which is where it supposedly started, but the company has denied ever using the symbol. Others said it started as an 'S' for Superman, but that too, is doubted.

I found about this too from a discord gc and actually investigated there clothing. For the life of me I couldnt find a single piece of merchandise Stussy produced which actually featured the infamous 'S' If you can find some type of clothing from them which has the logo it would be much appreaciated

Being so easy to draw, I would guess it's just some intrinsic symbol in our conciousness we've been drawing or carving for tens of thousands of years, and probably has no real meaning or origin. It's just art in general. Looks cool and makes us feel good
True. But I want to know if there is an 'official' connection. Like a date we can trace in the human calendar to when the 'kewl s' started
