Unpopular views about music

My last account here got banned almost immediately for "spam," simply because I said MCR sucks.

So there's my unpopular opinion.

Based and manic street-pilled.

As for my take for the night: I never quite understood the supposed "allure" behind Lana Del Rey.

I used to see her name and face/album art plastered most everywhere during her heyday in cultural relevance. Kind of wrote her off on the surface level due to her basic bitch-styled aestheticism - but noticed that for whatever reason; an abundance of pitchfork and /mu/ types (and adjacent) seemingly acclaimed her to the sun.

I gave her music a shot on and off within said timeframe - and I just didn't see anything 'deep' or 'profound' about her compositions. It's about as """""indie""""" as a bimbo white girl in uggs taking a selfie with her Starbucks frapp while pulling an expression of contrived apathy; and drenching it in a million faux-analog Instagram sephia-tone piss filters - then shoehorning an oh-so-cryptic vaguebook caption below it. Literal Macbook-driven """""angst"""""

It's the musical equivalent of being in the POV of a fat wine mom waiting in a jammed line at the CVS drive-thru in some sprawling, scorching cookie-cutter outer ring West Valley Phoenix area suburb - in order to fetch herself SSRIs after finishing her TJ Maxx cashier shift.

Drake’s Scorpion is going to go down as one of the more forgettable rap albums from the last five years. Apart from “God’s Plan” and ”In My Feelings”, I can’t seriously say that I have good memories listening or remembering anything to and about this project.

Drake should have just done R&B and dropped the rapping.

King (J)izzard is just Tame Impala for skinnyfat thirty-somethings who unsolicitedly shoehorn Game Grumps quotes/references/infodumps in everyday conversation; while visibly displaying their Thinkgeek-grade Zelda/Mario/Pokemon tattoos with zero shame/regrets.

It's the musical personification of a graphic tee ordered from threadless in 2009.

Lana Del Rey had a ton of marketing behind her and was beloved by crazy chicks who pop mental health meds like candy. Then they switched all that marketing effort over to Billie Eilish, the zoomer version of Lana Del Rey and every bit as astroturfed.
Bro, Billie has been old news for 3 years already. We are in the Olivia Rodrigo era now. But don't worry, this September we'll get another one.

Im not a big fan of how most music sounds now a days. Don't know how everything sounds so shallow and devoid of life but I think most artist (even genres I like like punk/blues/alternative/rock) over edit their music to the point where all the instruments are muddled and you can only hear vocals. Music that had to be done on the spot and in one room usually sounds better to me IDK why. most of the best sounding stuff came from the 20th century up till the early 90s most things after Cobains death sounds really flat (with exceptions).

I actually enjoyed Tech N9ne’s last few albums and I think it probably is a good thing he is not nearly as angry as he used to be.

All I listen to nowadays is traditional folk music. Well of course I still occasionally listen to things that aren't that, but I barely listen to "Regular" Music anymore like Pop, Rock, Metal, or Rap.

Same. Classical music and traditional folk. I've even started to take an interest in folk dance. This kind of thing:

It’s been almost two years, and I don’t like the way how Kendrick Lamar’s Mr. Morale & The Big Steppers was basically used as an excuse to force people to like a product that looks and sounds overrated to people who listened to earlier albums of Kendrick’s discography.
