I think these kids will go without vaccinations too, not only from an anti-vax mindset but from how they just don't exist on medical records. If the US has this, I bet their parents don't remember or appreciate getting shots for things like tetanus, polio and meningitis :/
They're also screwed when they're older and (possibly) want to gain an education or a job.

What if your child is not ready or interested to learn about guns? I assume you'll cut them the same slack as you do with reading.

It burns me that these parents use their own literacy and the power it brings them in order to disseminate this shit.

A radical unschooler sent her kid to a dentist for teeth cleaning and the kid was behaving so anti-social that the dentist couldn't clean her teeth, and the mother was more willing to pay for a failed dentist visit then tell her kid to calm down and only complained about the name that the dentist had for the failed visits.

After I’d made it clear (politely, I hope) that I wasn’t going to allow Maggie to be coerced into compliance, the dentist informed me that we were welcome to come back as often as needed in order to get Maggie comfortable enough to have her teeth cleaned. That sounded pretty good to me – until she went on to tell me that these “failed” visits would be listed as “behavior management” visits and cost $50.00 a pop. Truthfully, I was way less scandalized by the price than by the name. Because the name revealed that even highly reputable pediatric practices may have a long way to go before they are truly child-centered.

So if the kid doesn't want to their teeth cleaned, then the parent will let them not have their teeth cleaned because otherwise they will hurting the rights of their children.

I laughed about the food analogy because I personally know radical unschoolers who bought a ton of pudding cups because their kids wanted them and let them eat them all day. I know of one who ran a bath for her 3 year old at 2 in the morning and let him eat strawberries in the bath even though she was pregnant and tired. I know one who let her child live with a cavity because she was scared of the dentist and didn't want to go. I eventually couldn't tolerate that group any longer when I was being cut down for asking what people thought of Story of the World or which math book they liked best.

Which raises the question. If the point of unschooling your kids is because of how awful public education is, why would you do something that would cause your kid to have the same education as in public education.
