Law Upcoming vote on Net Neutrality laws - How many times do we need to strike this shit down?

FCC plans to vote to overturn U.S. net neutrality rules in December
WASHINGTON (Reuters) - The head of the Federal Communications Commission is set to unveil plans next week for a final vote to reverse a landmark 2015 net neutrality order barring the blocking or slowing of web content, two people briefed on the plans said.

In May, the FCC voted 2-1 to advance Republican FCC Chairman Ajit Pai’s plan to withdraw the former Obama administration’s order reclassifying internet service providers as if they were utilities. Pai now plans to hold a final vote on the proposal at the FCC’s Dec. 14 meeting, the people said, and roll out details of the plans next week.

Pai asked in May for public comment on whether the FCC has authority or should keep any regulations limiting internet providers’ ability to block, throttle or offer “fast lanes” to some websites, known as “paid prioritization.” Several industry officials told Reuters they expect Pai to drop those specific legal requirements but retain some transparency requirements under the order.

An FCC spokesman declined to comment.

Internet providers including AT&T Inc, Comcast Corp and Verizon Communications Inc say ending the rules could spark billions in additional broadband investment and eliminate the possibility a future administration could regulate internet pricing.

Critics say the move could harm consumers, small businesses and access to the internet.

In July, a group representing major technology firms including Alphabet Inc and Facebook Inc urged Pai to drop plans to rescind the rules.

Advocacy group Free Press said Wednesday “we’ll learn the gory details in the next few days, but we know that Pai intends to dismantle the basic protections that have fueled the internet’s growth.”

Pai, who argues the Obama order was unnecessary and harms jobs and investment, has not committed to retaining any rules, but said he favors an “open internet.” The proposal to reverse the Obama rules reclassifying internet service has drawn more than 22 million comments.

Pai is mounting an aggressive deregulatory agenda since being named by President Donald Trump to head the FCC.

On Thursday the FCC will vote on Pai’s proposal to eliminate the 42-year-old ban on cross-ownership of a newspaper and TV station in a major market. The proposal would make it easier for media companies to buy additional TV stations in the same market.

Pai is also expected to call for an initial vote in December to rescind rules that say one company may not own stations serving more than 39 percent of U.S. television households, two people briefed on the matter said.
Oh, and Comcast is already lobbying.

I'm so sick of this shit, seriously. The FCC is whoring out for Comcast and AT&T instead of ensuring that American citizens have equal access to the internet.

What makes you guys so sure that Google and other giant tech corporations aren't the ones doing the bribing?
Just curios
Probably because the giant tech corps will likely be some of the first to be throttled before the providers start going after the average consumer. There's already talks in some of those tech offices on how the NN repeal will effect their current operations and concerns in the smaller positions about how this will effect their jobs.

This is the fucking United States of America. This bill got passed with methods that would seem super obvious even in corrupt third-world hellholes. I love my country, but if there isn't major blowback against this entire shitshow I'm going to lose a lot of faith.

It's not just about net neutrality. It's about a government agency blatantly being a puppet for mega rich corporations at the expense of the American people.
Yeah but...but...t-those liberals are triggered...

I was in my basement happily wrapping my family's Christmas gifts, to come upstairs into my living room to hear this news.... I don't normally fly flags outside my home, but i have a few that will fly freely outdoors today and from now on and not one of them will have stars or stripes on them. SMH 'Merica... Its come to this.

Edit: Lol, rate me as you will. Soon it will cost us more money to have those freedoms.

Aren’t most of the heads of these companies liberal? The right already complains about censorship. Aren’t they essentially handing their opponents a gun and giving the go ahead to put a bullet right between the eyes here?
They laugh now but this essentially gives ISPs free reign to outright block and throttle /pol/ and any other undesirable sites. They're no longer required to treat sites equally.

By the way, I wasn't kidding about court-cases. Here's criminal ones the FCC was facing before this vote:

1. New York's Lawsuit against the FCC
A huge number of people allegedly in favor of the repeal that signed petitions were actually people whose identities were stolen and used without permission due to Verizon providing their data. NY has been fighting for a probe of this shit for months and it's pretty clear that the FCC did this, based on the fact that a number of dead people were on the petitions. It's also not the first fucking time Verizon's been caught doing it.

2. FOIA Request Blockings
The FCC purportedly violated FOIA Law by repeatedly blocking attempts to find out more about the repeal vote. There is some question as to how much this actually happened, but it's definitely a thing, and given the other items on this list it's hard to ignore. There is a lawsuit currently going on that strongly suggests that not only did they do so, but they did so with intent of getting this result.

3. Bribery Accusations
Pai's purportedly on-record with having bribed several individuals into getting the vote he wanted and on getting members of congress to drag their heels over this. There's too many accusations to list them all here, but suffice to say there's talk of a criminal probe being launched and it'll be interesting to see what comes of this.

Also have this: It's Designated Shitty FCC mocking everyone who had a legitimate concern.

Hopefully this leads to a DESIGNATED SHITTING CELL for Pai but I doubt it.

Are they already going through or are they pending? Because if they're pending I have a lot less hope this repeal will be stopped.

Haha, we sure showed those snowflakes! Look at how #triggered they are! If they support an issue we should definitely do the opposite even if it screws us over!

-/r/the_Donald and other alt-right morons

Holy shit, I just checked the_Donald and that's literally what's happening. This is a stickied post right now:

Based regulation slayer Ajit Pai TROLLS THE SHIT out of snowflake Soros NN shills. Shitposting has become an art form! TENDIES EVERYWHERE!

The battle for Net Neutrality is over! The companies that spent hundreds of millions shilling to trick the public into supporting their agenda have LOST! Just like magic all the hysteria will disappear.
