So in this interpretation theoretically you could just not seeking reelection after you finish your term, come back in 4 years, win again, serve your second term then repeat the process till your dead. This sounds like a nightmare if the democrats can squeeze out another Obama tier politician.

I mentioned this. It would be incredibly stupid to give up the advantage of having an Incumbent President just to let the same guy have the chance for an extra term almost a decade in the future.
What happens if you ditch the current President to gamble on a third term, and the opposition wins the White House because he's your only popular candidate? The opposition's incoming administration is going to throw a wrench into what was done for the last four years, which wouldn't have been a problem if you just took the free consecutive term. What if you not only do that, but then it turns out that the 4-year absence made the former President less popular than your opposition's incumbent, and the former President doesn't even get the second term he could've gotten had he just ran consecutively.

It'll take one retard getting too big for his britches, doing exactly what I said, and being forced to leave politics in shame as a pariah to his party as a result. Once it happens, nobody will ever want to try it again, lest they end up like him.
