Bandar Abbas Port Explodes:
Edit: Inserted meme with Hominy's face.
An update:
- The Port CEO is claiming it was due to undeclared materials which were stored improperly and caught on fire.
- The Ayatollah is taking a 'wait and see' approach to see if tiny hats are involved.
- People are reporting that there were 3 other fires and explosions later on possibly indicating that an underground tunnel system exploded. Possibly for missiles.
- Iran has come out and claimed that no military materials were lost and will be investigating it heavily.
- I have a contact with family in Tehran who says that the Persian rumor mill is saying the death toll to be around 500, not 40. No idea if this is true or not however the govt is strongly urging people to donate blood. Make of that what you will.
- The official updated toll is 40 dead, 1250 wounded.
- Russia is sending aid and helicopters are still dealing with hot spots and other fires
- Fires have started to pop up 30 hrs after the original blast
Anything out of Iran is "just trust me bro" because of the regime being harsher and now more jittery than North Korea and people having to report anonymously. The discourse over this is interesting to say the least.
Heres where it starts to get screwy:
- Newspaper outlets, conservative vs reform are split on who to blame too.
- Reformists are saying its an Israel attack or from other foreign adversaries
- Conservatives aka hardliners are falling in line behind Hominy saying it was an accident.
- It gets even more weird as the shipment was handled by the Ayatollahs personal shipping company from his slush fund which could cause the politicians to loose confidence and sow disagreement about his abilities. If it was discovered that the 'Zion nation' infiltrated his own company its bad, not sure if its much worse than mismanagement causing the explosion.
- To add insult to injury, Tehran was just hit by some really bad storms earlier tonight during a terrible drought year. A few people died, plus power disruptions. Completely unrelated but crazy timing.
My opinion:
Iran had a base there that Mossad or an accident blew up. Iran cannot say anything because everyone is looking at them and would see that they are negotiating in bad faith. Iran has non-western trade partners who are watching too.
Either that or it really was mismanagement like Beirut. Either way, the timing comes at a critical inflection point for the regime when they desperately need a win. An attack by Israel has become more likely because of this incident.
