A long time ago I read about a study done in Italy about what is physically attractive to women. They had photographs of hundreds of different men and had women rate them based on physical attractiveness. Something like half of the men in the photographs were felons and prisoners though not dressed like inmates or had any information referring to their criminal backgrounds. By a very wide margin, women found the men who were career criminals: murderers, robbers, conmen, etc. to be more attractive than the photos of the regular men who had normal careers and no criminal records.

This was done in the 1930s or 1940s IIRC, before the James Dean type badboy characters became a staple in cinema, though I suppose criminals were portrayed as sympathetic characters in the 1930s too, like a James Cagney type gangster.

That sounds interesting, I wonder what exactly made them appear more attractive? If they hadn't been told anything about these men could it simply be that they looked physically strong or traditionally masculine? Maybe being a criminal gave them an aura of confidence that women found appealing.

You know Hitler was very much revered by German women. And I would say Hitler isn't really physically attractive (let's push the obvious reason in the background for the moment). So I would say the aura part is a plausible aspect of making someone desirable.

I really hate the name. ValiDate, does that mean that you should validate other people by having sex with them? How shallow, unhealthy and pathetic is that? You should feel validated as a human being on your own, other people dont have that responsability.
