Valorant

You know a game is shit when the tutorial is the best thing about it. But I was expecting screencaps of their forums, proof that they reskinned the maps from CS:GO (again, screencaps or a clip show from that game), and a more detailed explanation of Vanguard.

At least it's wasn't too long, though.
Wait, there are allegations of reskinned maps? It wouldn’t surprise me, Riot is a shit-tier company after all, but even Blizzard wasn’t that dumb.

I can't vouch if this is actually true, I'm not into online gaming anymore. But with that said, I also want to say that Riot has been lethargic when it comes to designing maps for League of Legends.

If you two like, I could just show off the maps. I mean it's not too difficult. I'd put in the effort to entertain you two and maybe more.

Valorant is another soulless game on the pile of arena shooters à la Overwatch.

Valorant actually has a good amount of similarities with Overwatch:

- cashing in on arena shooters
- forcing competitive
- trash artstyle
- bad maps
- questionable machanics
- uninteresting gameplay
- both made by chink owned companies
- both made by companies that have no prior experience in FPS games
- forced lore and characters made just to look 'cool'
- and many more

I don't know how anyone can enjoy this game besides being forced to, i.e. streamers who get that sweet CCP money by advertising with free keys for the game.
Speaking of streamers, the views on Twitch quickly plummeted after the key drop thing ended. Wonder why.

The thing with the anticheat doesn't really help it either. While they mention it can't get any of your data, it's still highly shady to have a kernel level anticheat running all the time, even when you aren't running the game itself. It's not even that much better than other anticheat programs.

Something that still baffles me is how Moby Francke is the art director for Valorant. The guy that worked at Valve since 2002 and worked on titles like Half-Life 2, Team Fortress 2, CS:GO and more, yet the game manages to look like generic dogshit, both graphically and stylistically.

Just compare the characters and maps of TF2 and Valorant and it makes you question things.

It'll be cool for maybe 2-3 years and quietly die down like OW did.
If you want a good arena shooter just play something like Quake, TF2, Open Fortress, Unreal, CS, etc. or some other up-and-coming games.
This game isn't worth your time.

Team Fortress 2 embraces it's cartoonish nature. where you don't take things seriously at all, whereas Overwatch and Valorant are designed in such a way that they desperately want to be seen as "grown up" games, despite how ridiculous it looks. One thing I absolutely dislike about Overwatch is just how sanitized the game is, from the art direction to the playerbase. It's like they are so afraid of offending anyone. I suspect it'll be the same for Valorant in order to push it as an e-sports game.

Any programme that insists on accessing kernel privileges should be a giant red flag for anyone who cares about the security of their PCs, especially ones where you can't see the source code. While making the anticheat open source or allowing people to see the code doesn't mean the programme will be safe, some form of transparency is a necessity. From what I can gather, Riot has no plans for releasing audits to verify that the anticheat is secure (only mentioning that they've had security firms check it), so it's best to remain cautious.

That second image is startling to me. I can’t tell who does what at all. Even Overwatch, for the original roster at least, didn’t have that problem.

Can't wait to release part 2 of my video and uninstall the game for good, i wrote the script, but i'll probably finish it by the weekend, then i can finally remove this filth from my hard drive.

Valorant reminds me of Counter Strike but with OW artstyle and abilities. Why isn't it on consoles, they could use a CS type game.

Heck, even Paladins, despite it being an absolute buggy mess, is honest when it comes to their character designs, with the full-on fanservice that is to be expected from a Hi-Rez game.

Hi-Rez is an honest company who takes advantage of the genre that's popular at the time, and they don't try to hide it, just try and offer a better product.

Not once have I been disappointed in a hi-rez title. Sure they may be copycats in alot of aspects, but atleast they put in the effort to make it their own.

Seconded. Friend's been trying to shill me this game and I was like "what does this do better than TF2?"

And goodness, that art style looks generic cool as fuck. I bet you can't tell what class/character a person is playing at a glance during gameplay, and probably only find out after you die or the other guy dies.

Watch my review and your point is literally proven 100%. If you dont mind, this statement is far too good to leave out of my review of how the characters cant be recognized during gameplay.

I literally have to make a part 2 of a review already. That's how fast more and more criticisms keep popping up.

The main issue I see as someone who's seen under 5 minutes of Valorant gameplay is that every character model seems to be restricted to the same hitboxes as one-another, so you can't get vastly different silhouettes that make characters easily identifiable from a distance. Having it be this hard to identify a character from a distance in a game with such a short time-to-kill seems like terrible design.

Yeah, years ago Bethesda had a game like this called Brink that tried to capitalize on TF2's success, it had this same issue and it flopped hard.

At least the characters in LoL and Overwatch actually stand out from each other in terms of design and abilities. But as for Riot's MOBA, there are a handful of duds; but it generally works out if you know which role that they're supposed to be.

I earned a key during the beta period for watching streams, then never used it intentionally. I indirectly ruined someone's day by depriving them of a key, but more importantly I prevented some dumbfuck from malwaring themselves with a dirty chinese rootkit so I'm actually the hero of this story.

Well Part two of the video was delayed due to family coming to visit, but I'm gonna trash this game one last time and uninstall this malware. This weekend is the planned release date.
