VHS another asymmetric slasher game (free to play) - Surely, this one must be solid after so many failures? Spoilers: the balance sucks and the devs are faggots

Saw a few other people saying they're dumping the VHS discord as soon as game hits EA because of what a toxic place it is, feels good to be vindicated. And holy crap I can't believe how many people just flat-out refuse to see a problem with game state right now. Every key way sees a slight bump in monster players, then all the but the most dedicated level 95 monsters stay around. Evidence is in teen queue times skyrocketing a few days after a key wave. The monster role right now is just way too frustrating, particularly to first time players who will likely skim through the tutorials. I will see a discord newbie express frustration with the monster role and get mass-shouted down by a small handful of people who seem to be perpetually online about how monster is JUST FINE. They really need to start wrangling their discord if they want it to be anything but a cliquish echo chamber.

I don't see that happening until they remove Kyle and the pronoun people. Hopefully the stats (which are 10 million times more accurate than DbD and every user can see their stats) will tell them that there is a problem.

I tried Dollmaster for the first time even with the fucky MMR. Couldn't find anyone, used Dolls at work stations, was hiding in a decent spot, possessing dolls and scouting around. After 2-3 minutes didn't see a single person then a guy uses the shock sphere and downs me. That was a ragequit NGL. I must emphasize that this if the FIRST time I used this monster.

I sent in my feedback. I'm sure the faggots are using the excuse "Well, the game is in closed beta. That's why the queue time is so high when playing Teen." and I'd like to see that hold up when Open Beta and the Launch happens and there's still no balance changes.

Hopefully it doesn't come to that point because I do want to see the game succeed (if anything just to light a fire under Behavior's ass like you said) and it would be a shame if the devs made the same mistakes as all the rest.

Apparently the devs have no intention of adjusting the balance for now. Maybe no balance changes whatsoever until the launch happens... On the one hand I can appreciate that because you have a small pool of players on the other hand there are some glaringly obvious problems.

I got all of Wart's perks unlocked. It took closer to 90 matches so my estimate of 100 wasn't far off. Just to reiterate that I 100% believe the devs are scheming on having a battle pass that reduces the grind. I have mixed feelings about that since, after all, it is a F2P game but certain perks like Lethal Weapon and Scream Fest are massive QOL boosts. Also, Teens have a perk that gives them 27% more health...

I'm now playing Werewolf to unlock Scream Fest and it's like playing a different game. When you use his Berserk power you move quickly enough that you can actually dodge a lot of the weapons, particularly the sword and ray gun. Wart can't really do that at all. The Howl is fantastic at breaking through and shutting down the run away game Teens like to play.

It's funny that Werewolf's mutations are a complete 180 compared to Wart's. Wart really needs the alternate mutations like the one that shows you which Teens have weapons, the Toxic one that boosts your damage by 10% when armoring up and has no downside, all of the ones that affect his Leap are way better than default. Werewolf has only 2 mutations that you might want to use and they're both Howl mutations: the one that affects their movement by 1 second and the one that allows you to use it instantly if you dodge a weapon for a second.

Regarding tracking Teens: the audio does kind of help you when you didn't get a hit and trying to figure out where they are. But it can be misleading especially when there's an upstairs and downstairs. I find it much more reliable to go off of the bloodstains they leave after getting a hit because it gives you a better sense of direction. Alternatively, you can chase and wait to hit them until they're more out in the open or there's really just one direction they can go.

I'm concerned about that. They already struggle keeping monster players with people who can't wait to play. Can't imagine it'd be easier with people just checking it out

One thing I figured out is that you CAN leap and they cannot interrupt the leap with a weapon so long as you leap before they hit you. But, if you're armored up and try to leap you are then slowed down.

Figuring out when to use your Wart's armor/the Wolf's Howl is the trickiest thing and is all about timing and using corners.

Having played a bunch more WW games, I am leaning towards saying she needs a rework. Not necessarily because WW is weak, but I find the most effective way to play WW is to go flowchart mode. Hunt to start a chase, berserk, howl if needed, get a down. Hide when cooldowns are going. There's not a lot of room for creative ability use. Not as much potential nuance as WART/Dollmaster.

Also think they need to add some kind of endgame collapse. Most games seem to end with me chasing one or two teens for 10 minutes until one of us tags the other.

Not sure if I agree on the first part but agreed on the 2nd part. I'd also like to see the Book of the Dead require some kind of skill in order to be used first rather than it be a thing that's randomly found. There's nothing more frustrating then winning the match, or just finally getting one guy dead only for a Book of the Dead to bring someone right back.

Assholes were telling me: "When they use the Book of the Dead, it's really loud. You can hear it." No you cannot. You have to be in the same room to be able to hear it. There's no real counter once a guy has the book. You can down their ass and they still keep the book. So, once you down a guy holding the book you have to camp their body to make sure they cannot bring someone back.

Oh yeah, agree with this too. The trails annoyed me at first but it clicked after a bit. I can track pretty well now, with the exception of some areas where it blends into the ground too much. The audio seems to be easier to track too. Still a little goofy that it's stopped by walls. That's so different from every other game out there.
