VHS another asymmetric slasher game (free to play) - Surely, this one must be solid after so many failures? Spoilers: the balance sucks and the devs are faggots

Update. And guess what? Just like the other devs that repeatedly fucked up they're just hiding in their Discord now and posting updates instead of posting them anywhere else. That's nice. Make customers search for important news.

@Updates Hey all! wave
I realize that we gave an update only a few days ago BUT, we have some progress updates that we’re super excited to share with you! JessL
Wait a second Sam, are you telling us we’re in lockdown?
YESSSSS 🎉 We have finally hit the elusive lockdown phase! What does this mean exactly? We are buckling down to comb through every aspect of VHS so we can test stability and functionality before delivering the update to you!
VHS has been down a long time. Will VHS go into maintenance mode for months again if something were to happen in the future?
Definitely not. What makes right now different is that we are still in beta. Once we launch into EA, taking the game down for extended maintenance is something we will work to prevent at all costs. This is why we put so much time and work into implementing safeguards now. This way, we can maintain a healthy and thriving LiveOps experience for our players in the long term.
Does this mean VHS will be back spoon??
In order to set expectations, we want to let the players know that while lockdown is generally our shortest phase, this one will take longer than usual. This is a big update, and we want to really hammer away at this build to make sure it’s in the best possible shape for VHS’ return. We are SO excited to show you what we’ve been working on, and we are legit counting down the days until we can.
One of the larger changes we’ve made was removing our launcher, and migrating to Steam! Once the BETA returns, VHS will be available for current BETA key holders via key redemption on Steam. This is a massive step in preparation for our launch into Early Access!

So now they're abandoning their launcher probably because the DDOS bent them over backwards. They could have avoided a lot of bullshit to begin with by using Steam in the first place but I guess they had plans to use their custom launcher for monopoly money or some other nonsense.

It makes sense now why the furry mods have been mass banning anyone for wrong think on the Steam forums. Including this thing:

It's an obese communist white woman who claims to be non-binary.

Will the game bomb? Probably? It's essentially an Overwatch/Paladins situation. I won't touch it until the devs adjust the balance and TBQH I'm disgusted so much with their behavior that I still don't think I would touch it. Best thing about this POS is that it lights a fire under Behavior's ass and forces them to address long-ignored problems in DbD.

What is this about a DDOS? Don't tell me they got attacked for months on end.
They had a launcher? Christ, usually that's one of the shittiest parts of F2P games and I can't fathom why anyone would want their own freaking launcher if you are launching on steam (since they are taking their 30% cut). Unless they launch a standalone version

They had a custom launcher and the closed beta was proceeding on until DDOS shut them down. They hemmed and hawed about adding more security until they just said fuck it and put it on Steam.

Another update:

@Updates Hey all wave
I want to start off by saying that I know that tensions are high right now. No sugar coating, no corporate speak, the length of time the game has been down sucks. I could tell you that we’re still testing and working hard to bring the game back, which is true, but I can only imagine how tired the community is of hearing those same lines over and over again.
From an accountability standpoint, this is our first venture into the world of LiveOps and multiplayer games. We made the decision to refrain from providing an ETA on the chance that we may have been wrong. One of our main goals is to build a rapport with our community that is based on trust, and giving promises that aren’t 100% guaranteed feels like a bad place to start. Upon reviewing time estimates, we evaluated it would only take a few weeks to fix the immediate attacks that were happening. However, after ample conversations with other studios, we realized this was the perfect opportunity for us to further enhance the security on other systems of the game to prevent a variety of potential attack methods.
As gamers, we’ve all seen both sides of the story:
  • A game is set to come out at a specific date, so the devs crunch to meet those deadlines, working night and day to deliver on those expectations, only to end up with a bug-ridden build on release.
  • Promises are given on content and upon release, expectations aren’t met. Although players are understandably disappointed, no communication is provided and the developers go dark.
We don’t want either of these situations for this community or for the devs. If we could flip the switch right now, we absolutely would, but we want to stand by our promises to give players the VHS experience that they deserve.
As the Community Manager, a big part of my job is to ensure the community is being heard, and we do hear you. We hear your supportive messages, and we hear your candid feedback - ALL of which is valuable to us. We acknowledge the frustration, but also appreciate your dedication and understanding.
Going forward, rather than providing set weekly updates from the studio, I’ll be providing updates when there’s new information. Should you have any questions, the mods will happily pass those on to me.

Bolded the interesting part. Seems like it's in response to hackers publicly saying they're going to target VHS.

It will be shit
You were right.

So let me take a guess what's going to happen:

Streamers shill and bring their gay little community into the game, most likely streamers and communities who aren't even into the genre. They'll play for a few weeks, complain on twitter about xy and z (survivors too weak/strong, or killers too weak/strong), the devs will patch the game in response to complaints, and turn the game into dbd 2.0 where either survivors or killers are too strong/too weak, and by the time they patch their game to satiate everybody's desires, those people will have fucked back off to their variety stream and just playing whatever game their variety streamer of choice is shilling at that moment, and the game spirals into irrelevancy. Or maybe dbd streamers who complain about dbd, play vhs for a few weeks, then complain that something in dbd is done better than vhs, so then the vhs devs in response make it more like dbd, thus starting an endless feedback loop of complaints which they can never fix, and the dbd streamers and their community go right back where they came from.

If this game flops then the genre might just be a cursed one. I'm excited to see where this goes either way. I hope for your sake Bruno I'm wrong, bro. I can tell you just want a good game.
You called it man. I really, really, really wanted to believe that this was going to be different because all of these fucking soyboy faggot devs (BTW, the developers -Hellbent Games - are Quebecois as well just like Behavior) all they fucking had to do was do the opposite of what the other devs have done and failed at doing.

There's literally a fucking Seinfeld episode.

That's literally it. These fucking cocksuckers just had to accomplish the most common sense bullshit with this kind of game: literally make the monster a god damn threat and cannot be bullied, listen to the community, be timely with updates, be straight forward with your updates instead of constantly being vague, stop pandering to faggots, etc. That's it. This isn't rocket science. There's numerous examples. Then you have a good game. This cannot be an impossible task to achieve but it seems like it is because every single time someone steps up to the plate they shit themselves in a spectacular fashion for the world to see.

Adolf Drippler agrees.

By the way if VHS got mods that ban you by looking up your steam profile + comments the chances are high they've got a pedophile or multiple pedos in their team.

Just gotta wait until one of the minors gets solicited and asked for pics on their discord.

The game is back. On Steam. Early Access but invite only.

The devs have rebranded the game from "VHS" to now "Video Horror Society" and from what I understand nothing has been addressed with the gameplay.

I am tempted to sell my key TBQH.
They did post patch notes with quite a few changes here, though I've not been resent a key yet and haven't the patience to watch a streamer with it.

A screenshot of the top twitch streamers of the game gives a good indication of why:

Can you find a normal person in the line up? I think there might be one.

Funny that VHS and DBD have a plethora of faggotbbq+ and furry tags on twitch. Not even League of Legends streamers are that bad with those tags. What is it with these games that they attract literal degenerates? Lmao

Jesus Fucking Christ how horrifying.

Well, they made plenty of mating calls on Twitter bragging about how inclusive and gay this game is.

Plus doesn't psychopathy rear its ugly head more in LGBT circles or is that just BPD? Not trying to get political, trying to remember the study.

After looking at the balance changes I sold my key out of disgust. I hope the dude who bought it gets to enjoy it but I'm out. The patch notes are insane: nothing but endless killer nerfs but survivors got buffed. For example: there's the Bret perk Born Tough that automatically gave them 24% extra health. So, a complete no-brainer to put on your character. Well guess how it was """"""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""nerfed"""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""

Now the perk gives them 30% more health but it's only active in the first 3 MINUTES of the match. 3 minutes. 3 motherfucking minutes. The chances of not interacting with the killer at all in those first 3 minutes are extremely slim and if anything encourage them to be more brazen.

It's a god damn joke the whole fucking game. We need to drop some atomic bombs on Quebec. Enough of this.

For how much are the keys selling?

this whole VHS/DBD situation now feels eerily reminiscent of Lovesick/YandereSim.

what a shame.

Okay, granted there's just under a thousand players right now thanks to Steam Charts but the queue times reflect that NO ONE wants to play as the Monster.

queue times.png

There have been other screens showing the same thing. Which means the queue time is in fact WORSE than DbD.
