Are videogames for children?

Man if that ever fucking happens that's going to be like a major earth shattering event in gaming history. They've had madden since the 16 bit era and if they lose that, it's over. Nobody will buy a Madden with the unofficial team colors and inaccurate players.
If some other company got the exclusive license, sure, and while that might still result in a product better than modern Madden, I'd rather see the NFL going back to licensing out to as many companies as want to buy the license. Having at least two companies making NFL games means that each company will be making an effort at making a better product. The reason why Madden sucks so bad is because EA knows damn well they don't have to put much of an effort into fixing bugs and janky animations instead of money-grubbing gatcha mechanics and they'll still have a captive audience of football fans year over year. I'm not sure the situation would be much better if 2K or Ubisoft or anybody else got an exclusive license.

RIP... EA just lost FIFA
View attachment 2606326

So who the fuck is Fifa going to run to, Ubisoft?

Open-world soccer. You can go anywhere on the field and you get a special achievement if you find and collect all 100 cleats and 250 shin guards.

Jokes aside, while it'd be good to see the FIFA license go to some company that won't put literal slot machines in their games, wake me up if/when EA finally loses the exclusive NFL license.

The timing of this FIFA news also happens to be shortly after one of the competitors to the game, Konami's eFootball (previously known as Pro Evolution Soccer, until Konami decided to re-brand it for reasons unknown), turned out to be an absolute broken mess:

I don't even recall Madden and FIFA games at their worse being as broken as this. The only other sports game that would come close to the sheer level of broken would be WWE 2K20.

Maybe Konami wants in on the license, knowing how badly they fucked up their latest Soccer/Football game?

Which model would you recommend phat or slim and which model is the best
PS2 slim models are more reliable in the long run. Only real difference is that the fat has the internal hard drive (if the one your buying is in working condition that is) that helps with performance mildly but otherwise is not worthwhile since fats are so unreliable. Later revisions of the PS2 slim like the 75000 and above seem like the best options in terms of reliability. If modding is a concern FreeMcboot and MechaPwn are compatible with PS2s 50000 and above are compatible, although the compatible consoles may have different methods on how to apply the mod.

Are we seeing the same thing? That didn't look that bad, honestly. Is that the worst that YouTuber could find? I'll point you to this YouTube channel as a reminder of what modern Madden looks like.

I personally prefer the phat model. Backwards compatibility with PS1 games is pretty spotty with the slim (even moreso than the PS2 normally is), and as a result of the differences in hardware, even a few PS2 games don't display 100% accurately.

RetroRGB has a handy article that touches on it. https://www.retrorgb.com/playstation2.html

I’m sick of WarioWare. I wish that stupid factory would burn to the ground.

All the factory workers are annoying characters and it’s totally tarnished Wario’s reputation.

Wario began as a jerkass, bullying treasure Hunter, now he is an honest businessman.

Physical copies of Doki Doki literature Club+ are randomly packed with a business card to what many suspect is some ARG/LARP thing.

That really made me laugh, thanks! Funnily enough there is/was a soccer slash open world GTA game on steam, it's a complete jank fest and was probably cobbled together by a 14 year old using unity store assets.

Fucking hell. This is like some sort miracle.
EA's biggest cash cow has been stripped from them Rejoice!
doubt it will change much. instead of paying fifa for the name they'll just call it EA SPORTS SOCCER FOOTBALL and buy the names from the national associations or even clubs directly.

Do you honestly think that the knuckleheads who buy FIFA will still buy it if it doesn't have "FIFA" on the cover?

EA, it's in the game.

They didn't lose it, it seems like they're giving it up. At least they didn't add a woke twist and pretended their decision was because of all the un-woke scandals(wasn't there something about prostitution and minors?). At this point there's enough actual shit to twitter-MeToo the acronym itself.

No because that's exactly what killed competition. No official branding, no buy.

You need the official branding and likenesses the audience is so conditioned by it, without it it's nothing.

If anyones bored as hell consider giving planetside 2 a try, pretty fun game imo

Playerbase isn't the biggest but still fun

just means they have to ask "wait, where's fifa 23?" and then get told to get EA SPORTSBALL 2023, and that is if EA doesn't shove banners and newsletters into their face about the next game in fifa 22.

wasn't fifa in general just considered a leech at this point or am I confusing it with uefa? I don't really follow sportsball, but I remember that some bong clubs wanted to start their own league or something to get more money.
besides that it's EA, they probably deemed the brand name not worth paying for anymore, because in the end what are people gonna play after PES shat itself? stay with fifa 22? nah.

FIFA is corrupt as shit so it wouldn't surprise me if EA had to pay favors, direct deposit, to help previous license negotiations.

Is there any soccer game that doesn't require a billion hours of grinding and is saddled with online bullshit?
