Are videogames for children?

I tried the Visions of Mana demo yesterday. The game was really fun itself, good combat and I liked the classes a lot.

Was so confused about the performance. First, the game ran like pure ass on series s, super stuttery and honestly just nauseating to play. Idk how they fucked up a console port so badly, especially since this game is coming out on ps4, not just next gen.

Then i booted it up on my 1660ti pc, it ran fine at standard on a smooth 60, but what is odd is it was so fucking blurry? I learned it was because of the amd fidelity 2 setting, which even on "quality" makes the game look like a blurry mess.

Is this just jap game devs not understanding how to use graphics features? Shit was so strange and was on by default. Or is it cuz i dont have an amd graphics card??

I can't remember his name or the games, but there's one guy that is doing translations for old Japanese games. I've never played them myself but apparently he does a very good job and he will localize some of the language, idioms and expressions in a special way... He hates communism/socialism.

But like I said, never played any of them and only knows about this because some people were seething because his translations are the only ones available for certain games.

I'll try and look him up, if possible; sounds interesting.

I will say, it's kinda surprising that there doesn't seem to be many, if any, games that mock socialism/anarchy, specifically. I mean, we all know why modern titles won't mock said ideologies, but you'd think that some older games would take some jabs at them at least. There's Postal and GTA, like @Judge Dredd mentioned earlier, but they shit on everyone.

So, I got to ask; with all of the constant DEI shit taking potshots at anything remotely right-wing in video games these days, does anyone know of any games that take potshots at DEI? Not even necessarily recent games, older stuff from the PS2/XBOX era for instance; anything out there that takes the piss out socialism and/or anarchy?

2010 is when swap meets started getting fucked by speculators. SNES games went from $2 to whatever the fuck they are now. But in 2010 you could still get OEM parts without going online. I am ashamed that I actually gave DK Dickheads $30 for an SNS-002.
(My shitty radioshack one died)

I literally used to have a guy I went to for parts because he was one of the dudes trained by nintendo to service the consoles. The last time I went to the booth his wife kept trying to push chinese 3rd party shit and I realized the party was over.
(Specifically, there is a generic SNES/Sega AC adapter that is a straight up firehazard, and she refused to listen when I said I was willing to pay more for OEM. She kept saying "just as good" and it isn't.)

THQ nordic had a showcase. Some gameplay of Gothic Remake and Titan's Quest 2.
Darksiders 4(end of the stream) has been announced although it's just a ~15 second cinematic of the charred council(the three stone heads in Darksiders 1).
I don't know what else, there was this undead pig that showed up before Darksiders but they didn't mention what game, to be revealed in gamescom.

Finally got around to playing Zorch. Only 2 episodes in, but is great so far. If you're a fan of Raven's work before they became a Call of Duty factory, you might like it.

Wanted to finally get back into playing Stardew Valley with a few mods for QoL purposes only to find Nexus Mods doesn't allow downloads without logging in, and I was just to the point of "I don't want to deal with this shit" when it came to that.

Anyone know some good alternatives/mirrors?

To my knowledge nexus has no mirrors, and the alternatives(moddb/gamebanana) depend on the uploaders to keep said mirrors, sometimes the games has those mods mirrored but often not.
My suggestion, just make a throwaway email and a nexus account registered to that throwaway email.

marvel is making a new Overwatch and it looks kinda fun and kinda shit. they didn't learn from Overwatch and characters are still blobs that can only be distinguished by red names.
How are they still convincing their bosses to make these games. "Hey big boss we need to make a hero shooter that copies overwatch/TF2. I know it's an over saturated market where multiple developers have spent millions making games for only for them to immediately flop and die less than a month after launch but we got this fr fr."

Earth Defense Force 5 & 6 do things you wouldn't see in a modern western game, such as the female journalist preaching for tolerance or China winning a huge battle only because the aliens couldn't breathe in a polluted hellhole

After watching the trailer, I think what makes the characters hard to distinguish is the effects. It's just too much shit going on. I had this same issue years ago when I played Overwatch, I'd lose track of someone I was trying to shoot with all the rainbows being barfed all over my screen and it was really frustrating.

The gameplay looks so unsatisfying, one of those games where every attack is as if you're fighting someone in your dreams. The lack of visual and audible indication when you hit someone makes it seem like your attacks have no impact on enemies/the environment around you. It's bullshit

Word on the street is that the project has been in development hell since a time when making a new hero shooter still seemed like a good idea.

Been slowly chipping away at a level 1 proud mode run of Kingdom Hearts 1.
Compared to Lv. 1 Crit in KH2, I'd say it's both not as hard but also far more limiting in terms of approaches you can take to combat.
It's still fun and I've gotten very good at short hop air combos, but you can tell Zero EXP was thrown in wwith little consideration in KH1 since so many of the fights are built around guard which you just never get and deflecting with normal attacks isn't a good replacement for it.

I was also trying to do all of the item synthing, which was going fine until I finished Hollow Bastion and increased the levels of all the worlds.
I didn't realize how much stronger, or more importantly how resistant to magic all the enemies would be, which has made farming for the remaining items a nightmare.

If anyone has also tried this, am I fucked or are there things I'm missing which can make what's left of the farming I need to do actually plausible at level 1?

They left out the best soundtrack? No purchase from me then.
Is that the bloody soundtrack that is all terrible bleeds and bloops that was apparently made by a guy pretending to be deaf in Japan? Fuck man, i'm not kidding when I say this but that OST is so bad that it is a hazard to your health, no joke. It melts your ears and starts to turn your brain into a crumbling sponge cake. Don't ever listen to any track or you will regret it.

Whenever I put on the RE safe room compilation on Youtube I make sure to skip that awful OST because I don't even want to hear even a second of it. You could play that shit over loud speakers at a riot and it would drive everyone away instantly.

Surprised nobody has made an abiotic factor thread on here. It's lethal company tier "spooky scary indie graphics" but in a half life scientist meme world.
Fuck games with non-standard title screens that don't let you fuck with settings before starting.
Literally just start games at 50% audio. I don't get it. Nobody goes into the settings at the start of a game and go "THIS SHIT AIN'T LOUD ENOUGH"
