Along with the new "HL" game, Valve added a new operation to CS:GO, in which you can get consistent and custom player model drops. One of these is a woman:

You need to hit the highest rank in the (basically a season pass) operation to get her, and alongside her you can get this man also. CS:GO is a highly competitive game, so of course people are thinking "some of these have better camouflage" etc. I also see many "inb4 drama about the woman" comments, yet nobody is actually outraged. Likewise, nobody minds the e-boy lookalike on the right, because he's a man and it's fine.

No real feedback, just a funny observation. There are several lore women of importance, including one of the terrorist leaders, so hopefully going forward we'll see more creative models as opposed to white man good muslim man bad.

I kinda wanted the one on the right cos he looks like a silly anime character but then I booted up the game after 2 years and remembered how fucking miserable it was.

Also, Nobody gonna talk about all the Sonic betas we're getting (Sonic 3 with S&K stages and no MJ music and a beta special stage test with smooth 3D!)

I always thought it was not only realistic, but interesting that the models changed from map to map. The crummy activist terrorists in Office, the Irish Fascists in Cobblestone and the like, and how the Counter-Terrorists were (almost) always from the region that was being targeted unless it was a map in the Middle East, which also had varying types of operatives. Now, I don't dislike the FBI model because she still looks like an actual operative. The "Doctor" dude looks absolutely ridiculous, and if he's supposed to be locked to Terrorist, I am fine with it, but he just looks insufferable to me. How many other models are there?

Idunno man I think he'd fit right in with the rich white kid terrorists on Office.

Anyone have recommendations for more obscure action-y roguelikes/procgens that just throw you out into a world to Do Shit without tutorialing you for hours or putting you on a tightly controlled, predictable progression rail? I've found that my tolerance for cutscenes and plot is at an all-time minimum after Pokemon. Monolith/Dead Cells/Downwell are good examples of the sort of things I'm looking for, and Children of Morta/Noita are not since everyone seems to recommend those.

E: also I really like games where I can autistically optimize time-management like the Pikmin 3 mission modes. Anything along that line would be great, I just need something to focus on to get my mind off work/family hell.

This flood of betas has really been something, yeah. Some of the TCRF sonic spergs have been having a field day with them; I expect a mass expulsion of wiki autism sometime soon.

On a similar note the Lemmings alpha demo leaked a while back and got no attention, but the copyright infringing soundtrack it contained is.. notable, to say the least. Skip to 24m for one of the most inexplicable/awful beetles mashups possible.

Hey has anyone played Technomancer? Is it worth getting on sale? I know I'm getting the Shadowgate remaster for sure.

AlphaMan was pretty fun(ny) and it is one of the few ascii roguelikes that held my attention.

Eh, I got one I guess. I guess it counts. Final Fantasy Tactics.

I was a preteen and a friend got a PSX as well as FFT, and being the responsible 12-year-olds we are we stay up most of the night plowing through it and having a blast. We get to Zirkelle Falls, one of the more famous maps in the game with regards to visuals. Bigass waterfall with a bridge over it, pretty visually striking for the PSX circa 1997.

The plot at this point involves a princess and an evil knight named Gafgarion (who looks pretty much like Don Quixote) who's trying to kill her. They start on opposite sides of the bridge and predictably your party gets involved and has to kill him before he can kill her. Those green arrows in the water are where your party spawns. Skipping the unimportant shit, the friend is losing badly and has an archer on one of those rocks in the river who is aiming at some random enemy standing in the waterfall. The attack goes off and several unpredictable things happen:

1. The arrow gracefully arcs upwards over the bridge directly into Gafgarion, who had been rushing across the bridge to kill the princess and just happened to stop in the line of fire.
2. The arrow crits, putting him into low health.
3. Gafgarion interrupts the battle and his ongoing argument with the protagonist to scream 'GOD DAMMIT' and immediately uses a star trek transporter to beam himself out of the fight.

At this point neither of us had any idea the game had line-of-sight hit mechanics or seen the goofy teleport animation and at the time swearing in videogames was incredibly taboo.
Put all of this together and it's possibly the stupidest, funniest thing you can witness as a pair of naive 12-year-olds at 2AM, and we laughed far too hard at it for far too long.

I remember me and a friend played the piss out of Tenchu 2 we used make shitty levels for each other to beat, and most of the time, the levels would end because sometimes the Boss AI would just sometimes would hear ya and run into the trapdoor pits would we put around the Boss Arenas or the one time the boss of the level ended up drowning in a pool of water

We used to play alot of Wrestling games on ps1 as well most of time was spending Creating Shitty Characters or Recreating Fictional Characters like Ronald McDonald Fights Solid Snake and Batman vs Mario

also I had Fighter Maker for it, it like took like 2 or 3 months to figure out to make animations, i think we had more fun trying to get the characters to shove their heads up their ass or make em suck their own dicks then actually playing the game, i do remember my friend made one the female characters grab their boobies and shake their ass then when she attacked she start pretzeling out

I remember getting a vita and playing the shit out of Hotline Miami on vacation. Years later I played the game on pc with a mouse & keyboard and kicked the games ass

Spent like 2 hours trying to get Retroarch to play fucking dreamcast but it finally works and now I can run around as a black dude in a bandana eating junk food and blasting nondescript enemies that have waay too much of a cutscene buildup while the cameraman fails to hide his inebriation and awkwardly swings about.

The trick is to turn off vsync and to turn on the frame sync in the throttle options. The stuttering isn't your crappy PC, it's shitty vsync. There, I saved you all 2 hours and however much the jews at redream are charging for their ex gpl product.

While this is not strictly limited to video games, it's something that's been annoying me while playing FighterZ, so I guess it won't stick out of this thread: I find it really irritating when they use Japanese expressions in the English dub of a game for no good reason. it's a different thing when it makes sense for the character (like Chipp Zanuff, the weeby American ninja from Guilty Gear, yelling random shit like "sushi" or "sukiyaki" during his rekkas), but extraterrestrial aliens like Frieza and Ginyu or Android 18 (whose nationality is questionable but still looks very Caucasian) shouting "SORA SORA" or "TORYAAAA" in English is cringy as all Hell.

Playing Days Gone and I'm genuinely impressed by it - I'd actually go so far as to say it rivals RDR2 for me. The overall acting and pacing is weaker, but the characters are vivid, the gameplay is satisfying and I'm following the storyline because I want to find out what happens, not because its a box to tick.

Playing on Survival and it feels balanced. Still at the point where the sound of a swarm makes me shit bricks, though.

This may be the saddest thing I've seen in awhile. Some aspiring streamer bought ads on youtube that appear when you search for popular mario streamers. Despite the ad, his video still has less than 1k views.

View attachment 1039012

There's not a single thing appealing in that ad. That guy needs to learn how to market himself.
-Don't put "boring" in your video title, for fuck's sake, people take titles literally, try something like "This level just P*SSES ME OFF!!"
-Justin24 is a very boring username
-He has a neutral expression on his face; annoying faces in thumbnails are cancer but they're used everywhere because they get clicks, he should try to look cartoonishly angry
-He should have used the description for something more invitational/clickbatey, like "What is WRONG with this #&$%ing level? Can you believe this %@$#?"
-That trollface in his eye looks weird at a distance, and using a trollface in current year... kinda reflects badly on you, considering it's too old to be cool but not old enough to be classic yet. 😡 would have been better, if he had to use a face like that.

I can pick up a game for my switch on tuesday but wondering which would keep me busy longer? Pokemon Shield or FE: 3H? I know the new pokemon game has a lot of controversy around it but I usually get lots of mileage from autistic shit like breeding shiny pokemon with good IVs. On the other hand I'd love a nice rpg to play and have always liked the FE games I've played but I heard this one is super easy and about 40 hours.

Any suggestions on which to pick up?

I guess you could say FE: 3H is technically easy because it has a rewind mechanic, but I thought it made the harder parts of the game more bearable so I didn't have to restart a million times.

FE was a blast though. I haven't played a Pokemon game since Red so I can't compare it at all, but FE has multiple routes, multiple difficulties, and a pretty good story so take that for what you will.
