Me too, I love gimmicky shit like the e-Reader, I miss it. I only ever owned GameShark though.

The main problem with the e-Reader was that for the games that actually used the cards you couldn't use it if you only had one, you had to have two GBAs, with an e-Reader in one and the game in the other. I know they had the version of Super Mario Advance 4: Super Mario Bros. 3 with the built-in e-levels but when using an emulated e-Reader the Mario 3 cards (the item cards) don't work for some reason, which is a bummer since they added a few new items and I wished I could use them (like the cape feather).

Yeah, both of you are right. Still sucks though. SWAT4 was able to do it brilliantly and it didn't need to rely on gunning people down to be fun - but yeah, was made long before the current political climate. I'll remain hopeful that someone capable takes it on and does a good job because I feel like it'd be pretty popular if done properly. The paperwork would be dumb sure, but I'd totally be down for sitting on the side of the highway for 10-15 minutes without anything happening if I was able to do it with a friend and shoot the shit while random stuff came through the radio. Maybe that's just me - to be honest I'd find it sorta boring if everything was just a chase straight to shootout too. At that point should just play GTA.
There needs to be a proper balance--if you have friends who are autistic as you are that could be a blast, but with random matchmaking it could suck. You can't have comfy "watch for speeders on Route 21" while your buddy is halfway across town going full Mad Bull on shoplifters, and that's a WORKABLE scenario.

Holy shit, GoG is going ham with the new Mods section huh?
Looks like basically anything that is either a standalone or just requires a handful of core data files is eligible to be put in this category.

Day however many of awaiting a game sale. I've barely used any money because I'm edging myself waiting for that wishlist sale email. At this point I'd probably buy Borderlands 4 for the weekend if it had any amount of discount. Thankfully I'm too jewish now to blindly spend money in that way.
Laying in bed is the best use for it, but travel and toilet are valid too lol.
The exact delusion that floods the FB marketplace with handhelds. "I'll totally become a on-the-go person!", left unused a week later.

Travel is one of those things you do all the time or almost never. If you had a job (including Naval Reserves) where you had to spend a weekend out of town as part of your work, or were traveling on a plane at least once a month for business purposes, then a handheld has a lot more utility to you.

On the other hand if your commute is just in the same city (whether a full-time job or part-time wagie) it becomes a lot less useful. (Using a handheld in public transit is a good way to get it lost or stolen).

Using it on the toilet, on the other hand, is not. Those Switches, Decks, and phones get a lot of cross-contamination that way and are often as disgusting as the person using them.

I've been listening to the soundtrack of Final Fantasy VII and I wanted to play it again. I started a save file back in 2017 but I think the last time I made progress on it was like five years ago. Should I just start over at this point? I might've already missed one of the Turtle's Paradise posters.

I think 5 years is long enough that everything will be fresh again and you should just restart. Unless a game takes like 150 hours to complete and you're already halfway done, but FF7 doesn't take that long even to beat 100%.

Would you have a chunky-ass $1k steamdeck, or however much it is, out in public? On the train? If you could afford to lose a steamdeck you wouldn't use public transportation. If you're a PhD at a new convention every 12 days and actually still enjoy gaming, somehow? Sure. But then you're probably also autistic enough that you prefer physical manga and gameboy advance games.

I wanna beat so many jrpgs but 2-3 hours a day, if I can even muster that? a 90 game minus the extra grinding for comfortable encounters? Jesus. I'm only 15 hours into Trails FC and it feels like I've been grinding at it for weeks.

Coming to the end of a nice long playthough of FF7 Rebirth. I've beaten the game and got as most of the side content done. All that's really left is for the big fight against Gilgamesh and get him as a summon. He was pretty hyped up and a bit of a post game final boss so I'm saving it for when I'm fresh and craving to play again. Hopefully I'll mop him up in the next week or two.

Yeah. I don't sit down at JRPGs for hours (things like Stardew Valley and Factorio are the real time-wasters), so starting over would be a major investment. Meanwhile, my backlog has Final Fantasy IV in it (I probably figured I'd knock out 4 before going back to 7), but I found that I kept dying in Final Fantasy IV. Oh right, I downloaded the Namingway Edition, which fixed the issues with the script but also changed the stats on the monsters so now I'm dying constantly.

Obviously I'm not going to delete my file but I'm deciding between undoing the whole mod with a clean copy and transfer the save, just keep grinding, or find another mod that fixes the script without messing up the whole difficulty. Either way it fucked my run and made it even more frustrating to gain progress. :lossmanjack:

What are your experiences with gaming laptops? I'm considering purchasing one. I’ve never owned one before, I’m looking for suggestions on which one. It might become my full time gaming accessory because my PC is starting to show its age.

I’ve done research but this is a new world to me so I’m not sure which sources are reputable and which ones aren’t. I’d rather have the best options than something that will fuck up.

ai generated art or just plain shit art
The inconsistent number of fingers in each one leads me to believe AI. Disabled or not, those hands are messed up. Top girl has all ten fingers, bottom right has no right thumb, upper left has a normal left hand but three fingers and a thumb on his right, bottom left has four fingers but none of those are thumbs on the right hand and the left hand has some mutant nub. And the hand near the center has no thumb either.

I have a gaming laptop that is starting to show its age and I'm considering to buy a proper gaming pc.
I'm not a computer expert but consider purchasing an Asus. That brand is good and sturdy. I suppose gaming laptops are cheaper than pcs in general, but they aren't as "heavy-duty".
If you are a casual gamer, a laptop should be fine for you. Now if you want to play the latest 150 gb games in full HD 4K or whatever, then maybe a pc is the best option.

Terrible, overpriced, awful, uncomfortable, under powered. I was stuck with one for a few months I bought an upper mid level Asus laptop heat management was garbage and melted the glue holding the frame together in some areas and I don't even play high intensity games, mostly lightly modded rimworld, stellaris, source engine games, sandbox games, older FPS multiplayer games nothing too abusive. Maybe it is just Asus but I have heard other people having the heat melting glue issue. Get a steam deck it is much better imo and more portable.

If you're buying a gaming laptop, buy one in the mid-lower end of performance. It won't have the heat issues but it won't be able to run 60fps with all the bells and whistles on at the highest resolution. So 1080p with DLSS or FSR will be your helpful friend.
