How many games has everyone beaten this year so far? I'm an autist so I keep track of that shit (which also serves as more motivation to actually complete games rather than starting and stopping 300 each year).

Around 15 I think. For 8 of them I got all the achievements too.
I count stuff like finishing a total war campaign as a beaten game.

18. I'd like to think I'm taking a chunk out of my backlog but it's been two steps forward one step back sometimes as I find a genre I like and buy other related titles after finishing a really good one.

Keeping a spreadsheet to just record thoughts and count everything up from this year and last has been fun, though.

You can't say you're keeping track and not provide the deets yourself my dude.

16 games. I've started a LOT of other crap that I haven't finished.
Project Warlock
Project Warlock 2
Tainted Grail
Stellar Blade
V Rising
Mortal Sin
Cultic
Blood West
The First Berserker Khazan
Blacktail
Forgive Me Father 2
Inscryption
King's Field 4
Ultima Underworld
Amid Evil
Abyssus

And then some other stuff like Lies of P dlc, Remnant 2 dlc, replaying Deus Ex, Lords of the Fallen, VtMB, and things in early access that aren't complete such as Gloomwood, Voin, Monomyth, Realm of Ink

This is a good idea. I should be doing this as I'd like to sperg about some of these games if for no other reason than to post it in the guide to woke games thread but by the time I'd like to put down my thoughts and observations, I've forgotten much of it.

Backloggery is a good website to track your game progress, I've found. Been using it for years.

For me, I consider DLC as it's own game as long as it's a unique chunk of content and not just additions sprinkled in throughout the main game. Doing that, and including games I've started years back and just finished this year, I'm sitting at 38 games completed.

EDIT: Just finished the last DLC of MechWarrior 5: Mercenaries today. Enjoyed the game a lot more than I expected, though the grind did hit occasionally and for how much game there is a ton of it is just doing the same thing over and over.

Having an excel sheet for a backlog seems like a good way to record progress. My e-reader shows a % of a book I've read so even if I don't read much, I know the percentage went a bit up that day. Obviously that's difficult to do for video games, but using a website instead of an excel sheet seems counter intuitive. It removes the 'physical' journaling which is imo what makes you relate more directly to your game progress.

"Oh I fucked around on my shaman alt", but on paper you went from 31 to 32.3. Tomorrow that might be 32.8. I can see how that'd be more enticing than simply logging in and playing an endless slog til you hit max level.

Usually I can clock hoes on here easily but you're an interesting one. The vile nature of a womb-haver but the lukewarm takes and activity of a chud. Curious.

Played and finished Simpsons Hit and Run. Fun game, I would have probably played the shit out of it if I played it on release. I don't know if it's mods or bug fixes, but it was rather easy.
I played it on release and loved it until I got to the Monkey See, Monkey D'Oh mission. Child me couldn't handle it.

Backloggery is essentially an excel spreadsheet with a fancy UI. You can set whether a game is beaten, in progress, etc. and can put notes for each game tot rack your exact progress. It also tracks how many games you beat each year for you and you can go back and look through them. If it was just a binary "did you beat it y/n" I'd agree but that isn't the case.

I'll pass on the Steam sale this year. There's just nothing I really want at a good price that I don't already have, and I tend to dislike games that need an account and/or use extra DRM (sorry LA Noire). Fez is 5 bucks which I kind of thought about but I'm pretty sure Phil Fish has said outright he doesn't want my money because I disagree with his politics.

If you enjoy stuff like Risk of Rain 2, try Megabonk.

Finished Everhood 2. Game was fine, but a huge step back from the first game which I place in my top games of the last decade.

Let us know how that goes. I have a high tolerance for jank but I can't get into Spiders games no matter how many times I try.
Im around 20h in and Im enjoying it. I threw it on hard to start knowing nothing and feel like theres a good balance between challenge and frustration. My biggest gripe aobut the gameplay is that gear mostly all feels the same regardless of rarity. The story is awesome, and how you play does effect quest outcomes. I got locked up on a quest and looked up something about it and found out that by completing another quest beforehand it saved a character that wouldve otherwise died. Theres a nice attention to detail. The style of the game is pretty sick imo, the alternative universe pseudo-1700s colonization aesthetic is really well done.
For the three bucks it cost me the game was a steal and I would highly recommend getting it.

Roguelites are cheap and there's usually a handful released each year that IMO are worth playng. (clover pit as of late)

I don't think I've ever enjoyed a roguelike or roguelike-style game. It was perplexing why I enjoyed Balatro so much despite having nothing to do with the types of games I liked, including the idea of permanent progress, but I guess it just satisfied that gambling urge we all have.

I tried and got filtered at the first boss,
Well than you're not going to enjoy the rest of the game because Greedfall being a AA budget title only has 2 bosses excluding the final boss and you fight this guy probably 6 or 7 times.
