Just a drive by posting to say if anyone else is planning on playing Monster Hunter Rise and wants a fellow Kiwi to play with I’m up for sharing Friend Codes via DM. The game comes out next month and I’m super hyped about it!
I’ve been playing the MH series since Tri and my main weapon is hammer.

(There doesn’t seem to be a MonHun general thread so I thought I’d try posting in here.)
I'm excited too, but I'm not sure when I'll get it. I'll have to check my funding since I'm looking for a new place right now.

Switched over to Pathfinder: Kingmaker for a bit, decided to roll a Paladin because fuck it why not. I like that Pathfinder reduced the Paladin's MAD problem a bit. Can now more or less ignore Wisdom.

I can't be the only one who hates the Steam tag/review system and how people will just fill it with meme shit., right? Like, I want to find new games to play and I get shit like Hentai Nazi or Hentai Ninja and it's just unity asset packs that have been boosted up by troll positive reviews. Who finds that shit funny?

Add to that you have idiots adding jokey and arbitrary genre tags to games, it makes an already bloated storefront a fucking nightmare to find anything new in.

Get Valheim. Holy shit this game is UNREAL. It's 19 bucks? It's easily worth 49.
How is it for solo play? I'm not big into multiplayer but had fun with 7 Days to Die so it seems possible for survival games to do solo play right when they design it to incorporate that sort of thing.

It's awesome for solo. I'm at like 10 hours and having a blast. I played for 5 straight hours last night and got to level 2 workbench and it felt like 5 minutes had passed. I then died to a host of mobs in the forest and rage quit. Gonna start a new character today now that I have the basics of the start down. Basically just explore the starter area until you get flint tools. Don't try and do what I did and fight the intermediate mobs with a fucking axe.

There are a lot of similarities with old school rust, not the bullshit it's turned into with vehicles and the team system. In fact, it feels like the low fantasy survival game that Facepunch was going to make then cancelled. I can't fucking wait to see how they do multiplayer. Eventually I can see big servers just like rust that are just crazy fun. For now I think most people on a server is 10.

it's similar to conan exiles but without the bullshit. you can play singleplayer sandbox style thingy.

Well at this point, nothing is stopping you from soloing the game outside of needing that one multiplayer achievement that requires you to be over-encumbered and to fall on another player.

But it straight up allows you to turn god mode and to hit enemies so hard you'll break the gravity settings and send them into orbit or you can make the game as hard and punishing as possible. The game does some interesting things and to be frank it's probably the best Conan game ever made(granted that's not saying much, but it doesn't stop it from being true either).

The unique enemies for the game number in the 100's. So it's very diverse if you just want to kill a bunch of shit and do quest chains that go into dungeons and lead to huge bosses. Most of the shit is pulled from Savage Sword of Conan or it's heavily influenced by it. It's not modern Conan where they tried connecting the entire continuity and timeline.

i wasn't saying conan sexiles was bad, i said it had bullshit innit from funcom, the new island is not that good when compared to the exiled lands but it still something, the game is somewhat solid for a offline/coop/play wid fwiends thing, relying on online PVP you will find base building griefers, undermeshers and chinese cheaters that will exploit things. garbage balancing too and cool crafting shit is locked under DLC.

what was the bullshit in exiles anyway? stopped following it but remember in the beginning people quite liked it.
mod support being shit and awful PVP not counting the bazillion exploits a nidda can do to screw base building because gods are nerfed into oblivion and can't do shit, crafting timers can be adjusted anyway and there's nice ass in the game with olivia wilde lookalike face type. i'd recommend you look some gamplay footage of it for a while then consider buying the island of siptah expansion even though that island is not good but it still give good shit for the exiled lands. basically take it as a minecraft with ass and tits or cock 'n balls.

Valheim hit 360k concurrent this weekend. Not surprising. The game is insanely good. Like the AI for EA is as good as I've ever seen. It has some of the best AI in any game period. Last night it was storming like a mofo and I was on the edge of the more dangerous area so I ran into a house to get out of the storm, only to be followed (with no clipping, they went perfectly through the door frame) by two bad guys who scared the piss out of me and almost managed to kill me before I put them down.

I killed a troll that was throwing rocks at a bunch of skeletons (looked like it was trying to tear down the building they were in, it was throwing rocks at their building and it was collapsing, not my problem) by kiting the piss out of it for 5 minutes, terrified the entire time it would pick me up and squish me like a bug.

Easily the best emergent gameplay in a solo survival I've ever played. It rivals Rust already and that's in single player. If they get 60+ person servers this summer, holy shit this game has so much fucking potential and it's already so good.

so when you'll do a kiwi valheim stream?

no really, the game is cool AF and i really enjoyed playing it, currently busy at the moment but will pick it up agen whenever possible, if only Funcom was this bright and added conan sexiles styling it would be fucking sweews, nordheimers are yer standard hollywood vikings as it gets.

I wish I could figure out why The Sims 1 has working sound at 4K but not at 1080p since my framerate in the game at 4K is pretty shit since I’m running on integrated graphics atm. Only thing I can think of is it’s something to do with the native resolution of the monitor (the 4K TV on my dresser because I don’t have a desk) not matching the resolution I’m trying to play the game in. On paper there’s no reason why that would break the sound specifically but Windows 10’s compatibility with old games is pretty trash so who the fuck knows. I can’t get sound in any of the Bejeweled games either and I need to find a way to fix Simcity 4 since that game just straight up crashes to desktop in the middle of the EA Games splash screen.

Speaking of Sims, the consumer fans are upset that they can't give EA more money because EA won't put The Sims 2 on Origin.

does the sound mixer show the gauge moving? it could also be some stupid copy protection fuckery with the signal.

Try asking Ross from Accursedfarms; he deals a lot with old games, otherwise I wouldn't be able to still play the Total War or Silent Hunter series, Sim Earth, Wing Commander, etc.

Try this: Start the game, alt-tab out to windows, press ctrl-shift-escape to bring up task manager, click on the "details" tab, find [thesims.exe or whatever it's called], right click on that, choose "set affinity", uncheck all boxes except for one and click ok, go back to the game.

It could work, old games can exhibit really strange behavior when running on multi-core systems. Or try running it in a window and see if that does anything.
