So that Ocarina of time PC port is done, anyone interested in that?

I want to try it but you can only get the program you need from Dischord and I don't want to use that, I suppose I'll have to compile the stupid source code myself, such effort.

Cruel King and The Great Hero is really trying to be a paper mario clone, which is surprising because the first game Liar Princess and The Blind prince was a platformer.


But it's just not as good as games like Bug Fables. It really feels like development was cut off towards the end, like the project lead folded to the higher ups and allowed them to release the game as is, like they had to cut out the unfinished content and tape together what they had. The game really falls flat towards the end. They don't really provide you with enough enemies to level up so you have to grind things to a pulp, I'm really stumped why so many Japanese companies try to cut corners with their games when they should have given them another year or so in development. Like this is another game that's so close to being good or great but in the end it just doesn't cut it.
 

I'm looking forward to this new Ghostbusters game, I do wish the art style was more realistic and less "Fortnite lite" and I do kind of wish it had another single player story mode like the 2009 game, but that had a multiplayer mode too I never got to try and the idea of bringing back Ghostbusters multiplayer plus having someone play the ghost is great.

It'll be great to hop in and get some BUSTIN' action whenever the mood hits you.

I really wish people would stop spreading the lie that Train sims are a foreign genre in the west

They're perfectly common it's just that there are only a handful of companies that do them, but they have monopolized the market. It's like calling Football a niche genre because only EA has games for it.
 
I can't believe how sexist Deep Rock Galactic is, and I genuinely love it. It's 4 manly men, doing manly things like working in the dirty mines, drinking, and mourning their fallen comrades, and a male supervisor berating them. Women simply do not exist on the rig, and the only time they're mentioned is as a casual insult(of equal weight to being called an elf). So refreshing.

The game is obviously fun, but you don't realize how horribly pozzed current game design is until you play something like this and realize what we were missing all along.

I had family relatives who played the Switch version of Densha de Go Hashirou Yamanote Sen (mainly due that I own the Zuiiki train controller so the novelty did pick up their interest) and they were able to play the game relatively well after a few quick explanations. The language barrier is relatively low and there are fan guides out there on the Internet, for people who can't read moonrunes, to explain the colored bars on tracks, the mission objectives and bonus points.

I think that's more or less an inevitability that it will be localized. All you need is one simulation game to get mass appeal then publishers will look for similar titles to bring over.

I mean Farming Sims are a regular occurrence at this point and you're spoiled for choice when it comes to bus and trucking ones. Journey to Kyoto was localized for the US but the game has never been on sale, people don't seem too willing to want to spend 60 bucks for a FMV Rail game. Like it resembles a budget title, the camera equipment used to film everything was probably the most expensive development cost. Like budget titles work fine for the PS5, they just need to be priced accordingly (there's now a quadrilogy of Crazy Chicken games all available digital or physical for under 20).

Yeah, I'd really like to play it with one of those special controllers if ever possible. The one you have looks nice:

All I've really done was pop the PSP one into PPSSPP one day, only to find I need a bit more than my cursory knowledge of the language to figger out what's going on.

When even stuff that's obscure among even big gaming weebs like Famicom Detective Club is getting localized, it's surprising that not a single Densha de Go's made it out. It strikes me as one of those kinds of games that you'd think would get sparse, disjointed localizations, like how a couple of Choro-Q games were released as Penny Racers and Everywhere Road Trip

Just plop the new one on the eShop for $15 and the weebs will come a'runnin'.

Download Google Lens on your phone and hold it up to your screen, it can translate menus and shit fine.

That's what all the people at the Japanese bookstores around me do.

Yeah that's one I own (that I described above) and it's exclusive for the Switch version officially. Dunno if it works on PC while emulating the older Densha de Go games with it.

It's relatively easy to get what's going on visually but here's a list of kanji characters that you will encounter rather frequently in those games (behind parenthesis are characters that tend to complement with the other):
発(車) (hatsu - hasha) - Departure
(到)着 (chaku - touchaku) - Arrival
遅(れ) (chi - okure) - Delay
早(着) (haya - hayachaku) - Early (arrival)
定(着) (tei - teichaku) - (Arrival) on time
時 (toki) - hour
分 (bun) - minute
停車 (teisha) - stop
通過 (tsuuka) - driving through (=no stop)
停止 (teishi) - halt (signal)
注意 (chuui) - attention=expect halt (signal)
警戒 (keikai) - warning (signal)
進行 (shinkou) - go ahead (signal)
(速度)制限 (sokudo-seigen) - (speed) limit
(制限)解除 (seigen-kaijo) - (limit) lifted

If you want to really get serious about learning moonrunes, use the Genki books or Tae Kim as beginner references.

I think the modern definition of niche genre is that, barring autism, you wouldn't feel comfortable saying you like it in public company.
 
Is the Part Time Hero stuff in Like A Dragon worth grinding out, or is it just there to pad out your rewards in general gameplay?
Everything is geared towards the second run of the tower when it comes to skills and jobs, if you're not planning on 100%ing the game then you could probably skip them. But if you want to do the tower's second run you need everything maxed out and finished.
