Finally finished Megaton Musashi W. What a slog that turned into. Took 32 hours and I was ready for it to be over after 12 of those.

Is Signalas an actual game of any value or is it solely pushed because of lesbians? I hear about it fairly frequently, but only in the contexts of lesbians... nothing about what the game is like or how it plays, just lesbians.
It's actually a pretty good game by most accounts. Got into it without knowing the story and was able to enjoy it despite whatever social biases I have. It has a nice Silent Hill vibe to it with the sci-fi East Germany space theme giving it a unique touch. If you're on the fence, skim a spoiler free let's play to see if the gameplay seems like your cup of tea. If you feel very strongly about social issues you might dislike the payoff in the late game but the game as a whole is actually alright for what it is.

So, anyone get anything good from the Game Devs of Colour Expo sale on Steam? The only good games I see are made by Asians who I guess get counted as people of colour this time.

Elaborate if you could. I thought it looked interesting but Lord knows this thread is where hopium for modern video game releases goes to die.
remember all the micromanagement, assigning workers, caring about workers, the resource management? All gone.
It's a different game with a Frostpunk skin. It feels like Temu bought the rights to Frostpunk and made a game

Ah that explains it rather well. I can see why fans of the first one wouldn't want to touch it. What replaces the old gameplay loop then? I know you were meant to start out with a functioning city at the start but never looked into it beyond that. Is there really no free form mode? That'd be like Skylines or SimCity shipping with only scenarios and no free form mode to build a city from scratch.

It's the same idea as the first, but instead of building buildings, you build zones like in simcity. You icecrack and magic stripping machines remove ice to make new land, and then you build a housing district or whatever on it. Then you get a bong and have a dilemma to solve.
It's ready for a mobile game conversion with boosts to remove timers

Big issue I'm having is that the currency resource is a huge bottleneck so you end up having many periods where you're just sitting there waiting for the paltry amounts to come in, or can screw yourself early by spending it wrong.

That's unfortunate. I was actually looking forward to playing it by paying full price for once. I will be waiting for a GoG sale instead now.

I don't mind zoning if done right like in SimCity but everything bolted on top of it sounds like a downgrade. That's a shame.

I think one of the biggest issues is that you don't see people on the map doing much. There was something in seeing a few people wade their way through the snow to try and get the little bit of coal you needed to start the furnace, or seeing that graveyard or body pit start to fill up. Compare that to 'icecrack' where you just magically see some strip mining machines appear and vanish where you painted 'stripmine' on the map and a timer counts down.

I’ve been spending an inordinate amount of time watching old Dead Rising longplay game footage when compared to the recent Deluxe Remastered edition, and I came away thinking that a 2006 game has more fun and life when compared to an edition that made everything detailed and colorful to look at.

Still, I have DRDD on my wishlist on Steam.

So The Forever Winter came out to early access and I just tried it... It took about an hour to get the netcode to work because Epic Online Game Services is the best piece of chinese software ever. And I walked outside, spotted 4 shameless unity assets then died instantly to horribly balanced near instant kill enemies right outside of the spawn.

It is a $25 pre-release tech demo as expected with ugly animations, ugly models, bad gameplay, and an empty map. As I expected there is no content, don't buy it.

Not to mention some questionable mechanics such as the water system. I figured it was going to be meh in the other thread.
