Are videogames for children?

It actually pisses me off that theres younger Gen Z and Gen Alphas caring about how many other players are on a game, who the fuck cares as long as you have enough players to fill a server then you can play it.
It's an unfathomable degree of vapidity and shallowness to exhibit in relation to a video game, can you imagine how they think about real life shit?

they are obsessed with numbers and minmaxxing literally everything they do, I cannot understand why they like that.

Update on Aneurism IV. Here is the initial Aneurism IV post on this thread.
The PR manager of VELLOCET with he/him pronouns in his bio, AyAyRon, is alleged to have streamed porn in a voice chat full of minors. I can't confirm these accusations, but definitely not good if true. I am being told that the devs don't care and want nothing to do with the drama or this incident, but won't fire him (even though that's a good way to avoid having to deal with the drama). As of right now, he is still in the VELLOCET server, is actively posting, and has his roles intact.

This video (Archive) is supposed proof.

Decided to play that Rugrats: Adventures in Gameland game they just released because im a huge nostalgia fag.

It's basically Mario 2 with a Rugrats paint job. Controls well, decently challenging, banging OST but pretty damn short. Beat it on normal in about an hour.

Not sure I'd recommend it at 25 bucks but on discount, if you're looking for a fun little platformer, go for it.

I mean, believe it or not, when publishers release these expensive ass games that are usually free to play you do need massive numbers to sustain them. Enough players to host a server works for something old and dedicated server based like TF2 where you buy it and you're done and it runs on toasters, not so much new games that cost 200 million to make.

Anti-Idle: The Game a game originally created in 2009 and the original .swf file has been updated until 2020-21ish then after with a small community cresting bug fixes created enough drive to have begun beta testing and a small discord server for feedback for a port to moblie, the reason I'm posting this is because it has finally begun beta testing for mobile port after it's 15 year anniversary iirc.

Meaning this game has technically speaking been in development for over 10+ years and I personally have invested about over 100 hours already into it on pc and it's moblie port will easily add over 1000 hours for me.
I can't believe it's been fifteen years... Tukkun truly is a king.

In non-Anti-idle news, I've been completely sucked into the Convergence mod for Elden Ring. This feels like the genuine gold standard for mod work. Full dungeon changes, map reworks, and a Siofra Aqueduct that isn't a giant open plain. I don't think I can go back to playing vanilla ER anymore. It's just too soulful. Castle Morne is now the same size, if not a bit bigger than vanilla Stormveil.

>install Kingdom Come: Deliverance on my desktop PC
>runs like shit
>install it on my Steam Deck
>runs great
>check settings
>Steam Deck's running it on the medium preset
>set it to medium on the desktop
>runs exactly as well as on the Steam Deck

I am once again mildly annoyed at unoptimized games that make you think your PC is a piece of shit when it isn't.
I fail to see the problem.

I doubt it's optimization. Chances are it's some specific graphics setting that does little for visuals and tanks the framerate. One option would be to crank up each setting one by one until it goes to shit again.

Related. Never play on Ultra.

Agreed. Though it doesn't bother me as much as it used to. They grew up with live service always online slop. Having the player numbers drop would mean no more meaningful updates or the game being shut down. I don't fully buy that excuse, but it makes sense.

That said, a lot of it is just fanboy dick measuring contests. It's the only thing that explains how Suicide Squad was "thriving" at 8,000 players, but Palworld was considered a "dead game" with 250,000.

Looking into the company she works for, they've released 4 games I've never heard of. 3 of them appear to be artsy fartsy wastes of data, and the one that looks like an actual game is a platformer that is probably fine but I would be shocked if there wasn't some sort of political nonsense slipped in ala Celeste.

Entirely unrelated, but I've been playing the original Ogre Battle lately and it's been fun, I just wish the systems weren't so obtuse if you want anything but the worst ending. Having to babysit alignment and reputation and actively being discouraged from using your main character for fighting is lame. It has made me want to replay Ogre Battle 64, however, which is probably my favourite game on the N64 and a must play for SRPG fans.

Is Signalas an actual game of any value or is it solely pushed because of lesbians? I hear about it fairly frequently, but only in the contexts of lesbians... nothing about what the game is like or how it plays, just lesbians.

New games suck so hard that zoomers are now going back to older games.
Can't blame them. Dont need to wait for an update file when putting the game in. Just boot it up when u pop it in. No download patches, no need to spend 70$ on a game that may or may not suck ass. No woke propaganda or ugly women. Plus when u buy it, its physically yours.

Now, I'm not saying all games in 2024 are trash. There are good games this year (mostly from Japan) but I just find it funny that retro gaming is still alive and well with a new generation to experience it. 20 years from now. Do u think some games are going to be remembered the same way as the oldies?

It's been a while I've played it (on Switch) so I can't explain in great detail but I can provide some info at the very least:
It's basically a top-down horror game, with the occasional full 3D exploration sequences and puzzles that both act like the old point-and-click games I remember playing on PC when I was younger. The mining facility you investigate, in the search of someone, lost all the natural human personnel while the androids have degenerated into mindless and hostile monsters.

The main difficulty, and eventual hurdle to some users as it can force going back-and-forth several times to the nearest safe room, is your inventory being limited to six slots at once (including key items). There was an update that did give the possibility to increase the number of item slots or make certain key items not take up space. Come to think, I don't think the devs ever brought that patch on the Nintendo Switch port unless it's hilariously exclusive to the Japanese version (under a different publisher) for some reason.

I personally enjoyed the game imo, but I also don't involve myself with English fanbases to let them poison my enjoyment.

I'm not tired of gaming. I can dump 12 hours into a game over a weekend, but jesus is it getting hard. Every now and then I'll get a spark in my eye and go "you know what? Trails in the Sky 1. Holy shit this is great, 5-6 hours in", then it just stops. It gets too tiring to boot it up. Sometimes I can explain why, like giving My Time in Sandrock a shot, having an aight time, then seeing the sequel trailer drop and it's the most soulless Valorant-like slop imaginable, and I lose all interest. Or a thread on /v/ making me realize how dogshit the game actually is.

Other times, I just sit there and the spark is gone. I'm enjoying it, I keep booting it up, but I just. Can't. Some games like BG3 it makes sense cause they're fucking 4D; hugely reliant on you playing it in one go, very complex and such, but others it's simple stuff like Trails and knowing there's 50 hours left AND another 6-7 games in the franchise of 50-100 hours each. Which is great if I truly get into Trails, but if I don't.. holy shit that's like reading a 500 page book, giving up by page 186 but needing to see it through.

Another promising indie ruined by its immediate troon ownership. Every single piece of media ive seen about this game (and ultrakill and such titles) is just UUWOOHROOO LESBOOO PRIDE TRANS RIGHTS!!!! despite very little such canon content, seemingly.

Yeah, I see what you mean. A while back I was playing Pokemon LeafGreen and got (maybe) 3 badges which is farther than I did in any pokemon game but then I just stopped and forgot about the whole thing. I'm also struggling to boot up Final Fantasy VII despite being invested into the story when I'm playing it.

I'm playing UFO 50 and it's fucking great.
For the first game you'd expect a Mario-esque "anyone can pick this up and play" game but it's actually as-if Jet Set Willy and Knightmare 2 had a really thorny baby.
It's one of the most unrepentantly hateful things I've played in recent memory and I kinda love it?
Fumbling about for 45 minutes trying to figure out how to get further, finally figuring out how to buy an item only for it to not do what you thought it did (or having any visible effect) and sitting there until you realize a spot you saw where it might have an effect.

The developers have stated that it gets much less angry but I'm really liking the experimental shit here. "What can a game get away with without you completely giving up?"
