Welp, I just beat the No One Lives Forever duology.

I gotta say, I can see why they are considered cult classics. The style, humor, and overall charm I don't think I've experienced in an FPS series outside of the Timesplitters series.

Also, I know this may be a bit of an unpopular opinion, , as most say that NOLF 1 is better, but while it does have more varied locations, set-pieces, and weapons, I overall think I prefer NOLF 2. Maybe my view is skewed due the music in the first game for me often not activating and just playing the default stage music rather than what was supposed to play. But generally, I found NOLF 2 to be far more polished, have far less frustrating stealth mechanics, and just in general, played far better than the first. So yeah, I found the sequel superior.

All in all, while not my favorite Monolith (RIP) title, as that still belongs to F.E.A.R., the NOLF series is one that definitely deserves more love.

Any thoughts?

This is interesting, and the only reason I found out about it was over some random /v/ bait thread.
Some tiny channel had an interview with Gabe Newell. Last month. And it's not even over 100k views.

Finished a couple shorter games while I chip away at longer ones.

Gundam Breaker 4 was fun. The first entry in the franchise I've played and I did spend a ton of time building my own Gundams, though the gameplay itself was just okay. I wasn't a huge fan of the giant boss enemies and found them to be more of a hassle to fight than anything else. The story was anime shlock, like a watered down season of one of the Build Fighters shows. 6 or 7/10 or so.

WARRIORS: Abyss came out of nowhere for me, combining roguelike gameplay with Musou trappings. It's a fun gameplay loop and it's always nice to hear the music from the games again, and it only took me 5 runs to clear the game's main ending. The runs were a bit long for my liking and the bosses weren't especially fun to fight against but killing 1000s of asian ghosts each round never stopped being satisfying. I don't really have the patience in me to grind out the "true" ending given I'm told it's literally a glorified YOU WIN screen, but the 4-5 hours I got out of this were decent enough.

I've been chipping away at a Rebel run of Tyranny and working on my scores on Sound Voltex Konasute on the side, and might finally do a complete run of Persona 5 Royal.

This video discusses idiot-proofing, designing for an audience and the sacrificing of those not capable or skilled enough for the games' mechanics

I'm retarded and don't know where else to put this.
I really liked Starsector for awhile but checked out for a bit.
While I was gone apparently the entire community went to hell.

TLDR tranny modders split into subfactions via discord users that all hate each other. A lot of it started because of a weeaboo rape mod (RapeSector).
Fascinating news for the unemployed.
Wish they'd actually finish the game and fix its myriad of issues. I think a lot of the surge of hype when Sseth released his video was because people thought this game had a future. Instead the main dev just drags his heels while the mod community perpetually implodes.

Modders deserve to be anally raped by the legal system.

If I had a dollar for every time a modder added malware to their mod to fuck over people they don't like I could probably crowdfund a lawyer myself to get their asses.

Niche Gamer: Japan-only Cowboy Bebop PS2 game gets fan translation (archive)
Cowboy Bebop 追憶の夜曲 (Cowboy Bebop: Tsuioku no Serenade) was released in Japan for PlayStation 2 exactly 20 years ago to the day. The game was originally developed by Banpresto and was published by Bandai.

This is a full 100% English fan translation with all text, graphics, credits, and much more translated, the first time the game has been fully playable in English.

Anyone got suggestions for a fun open-world game? Preferably one with a modern/urban setting; was considering picking Watch Dogs 1 back up again. Any other suggestions?

Wake up honey, new AAA disaster upcoming. While I usually don't trust Redditors this aligns with the recent teasers, trailers, and the terrible pricing scheme where they are locking features behind the different purchasing tiers at launch.

Paradox was always bad but them becoming publicly traded really fucking amplified their faggyness.

In other Paradox news, Prison Architect 2 which was also an upcoming disaster but was indefinitely delayed a few months before launch and pre-orders refunded has gone a whole year without a single update on its fate. They have already switched development studios on it like 4 fucking times by the time this game comes out if this game comes out it's going to have a 3 hour long credit sequence.

So. Who else was genuinely devastated over the cancelation of not only Bioshock 4 but a remake of Bioshock, Arguably the best game ever made? What the FUCK are these retards thinking?! Get your shit together! Bioshock remade in native 4K with an expanded Rapture to explore would make a fucking fortune!

No. I don't want current devs SOILING Bioshock (you can play it right now, the original or the remaster, and it feels and looks good as new) and 4 would have been worse than Infinite.

More and more I find myself living in the sentiment of I'd rather have nothing.

Probably best if it doesn't get released. I loved Prison Architect but Paradox ruined that game and introduced a bunch of useless DLCs. Much like Cities: Skylines (also a Paraslop game) there were ways that the game could've been improved and they didn't do ANY of them.

When they cancelled Life by You last year, they had mentioned that they said they weren't "satisified" with the game, which sounds out of character for a company satisfied with releasing mediocre products. They also seem to have stalled out on Cities: Skylines II with the first expansion pack endlessly delayed. (I'm surprised Colossal Order wasn't shut down already).

But then again, sequels tend to be disappoint these days. Either they're completely unnecessary and/or don't fix the things I wanted fixed. I had played Evil Genius nearly a decade after its release and I came away thinking that it was good but there were a lot of things that could've been improved on. I was mildly intrigued with the sequel, but pretty much none of them were improved on, with the same bullshit like segregated rooms for different purposes.

Another one was Planet Coaster 2, what I had wanted to see from the main game was integrating Planet Zoo into the game but stuff more like real theme parks--live shows and stores and eateries that aren't an afterthought. I've mentioned in the "unpopular opinions" thread but half of these games don't really need sequels since technology hasn't dramatically changed since the previous game was released (if a game was released in 1990 with sequels in 1995 and 2000, the sequels would be DRAMATIC changes), but not so much nowadays unless the idea was reworking a game by going under the hood and changing a lot of things from the get-go. It's really frustrating that sequels to Planet Coaster, Evil Genius, and Cities: Skylines had a lot of potential and squandered it.

Anyone else playing Lumines Arise? A prerelease demo released a couple days ago and has online multiplayer. It’s a lot of fun and is basically Lumines for people who liked Tetris Effect, which was itself Tetris made by the Lumines devs.

Of course its Paradox. Weren't these fags showing off the game in Gamescom 2025?

Im convinced a lot of Gaming YouTubers don’t actually like Video Games, I mean you have people like Asmongold who only complains about everything whenever he covers a game, while I would agree with a small amount of his takes 99% of YouTube videos now are just whine about products

You guys thoughts on Aim Down Sights?

Awful, we changed the act of point and click to... point and click and click. While it has value as an immersive trait it has no business being in competitive games unless the objective is to intentionally gimp offensive play, siege comes to mind but also counter strike, the scoped weapons are unique in that they're explicitly designed to be defensive tools since peaking with them is much harder than any other gun.

On console it made more sense because the slight zoom is helpful for a tv screen on the other side of the room and it effectively is a way for players to have a button to turn on auto-aim. But for pc games like Apex or Titanfall ADS is a poison that has done a lot of damage to games overall. Not to mention that hipfire as an RNG mechanic has undoubtedly turned the tide of games purely based on the roll of the dice.

edit: watched the video after, it's basically what I said. I will say for payday 2 it actually makes more sense just because payday is the RPG shooter and a lot of mechanics interact with each other in that game. Like all games use ADS as an accuracy buff state but payday actually has a modifiable accuracy stat that deals with deviation.

Not sure where to put this.

Ofcom (the UK government) has decided to go after steam to ... ... ...protect the children somehow?

But yeah, Steam now needs a credit card to view any "mature" game. This includes on accounts that are more than 18 years old, and for games you already own.

There was some viral tweets by a guy showing his 19 year account requiring verification to prove he's own 18, but can't find it short notice.
