Just beat Romeo is a Dead Man. I enjoyed most of it, but the last chapter and ending were really, REALLY awful. It put me in a bad mood for a while.
The game isn't bad but really needs some polish with patches.
That's a weird one. I feel like everyone I've actually talked to liked it but it has like 3/10 critic ratings.

I guess Suda is just too fucking weird for the normies.

With all the hype for it I'm tempted to play Clair Obscur. Before I do, I've kind of absorbed through just being present online that the story does a big gotcha partway through that changes everything. From what I gather it pulls the same sort of thing that Star Ocean 3 did way back when. Is that the case, and how stupid is it?

It's not as "stupid" in the sense that it's much more thematic to the game as a whole. There's a few big twists that get dropped on you together in the last half of the game that tie in to one another, but they do tie in with little hints the game drops you up until that point. When it happens, it's a connecting of the dots instead of a nonsensical asspull. It's abundantly clear in secondary playthroughs where you notice things that answer questions you would have later wondered about in a new context.

I don't want to speak on it too much because I personally feel it's one of those things that are best experienced firsthand and it's hard to not spoil the game without getting into the weeds. I watched someone play the prologue and made myself stop so that I could experience it myself before it got ruined for me. Even if people dislike the general direction the story takes, the stuff leading up to it is still quality and I was satisfied with the conclusion. There's no wacky Reddit Whedon-tier quips and dialogue is usually grounded and played straight. There are humorous moments, but they serve more as moments of levity in an otherwise somber story as opposed to "Well THAT just happened" quips. I can count on one hand the amount of video games that have had me in tears with a lump in my throat, and Expedition 33 had several of those for a range of reasons. Every voice actor absolutely nailed their roles and it goes a long way to sell you on the tone. I found it refreshing to play a game that respected my intelligence enough to not beat me over the head repeatedly with obvious information and treat the heavier themes of the game with the proper gravity. Sincerity is a lost art in modern media.

I would just go ahead and play it. Even if you don't think it's the greatest game ever made, it's still one you're going to remember. Between the art direction, the story, the themes, and the music (which is an entire topic on its own, tl;dr Lorien Testard is a genius and Alice Duport-Perceir has the voice of an angel), the game has a very cohesive identity. The game is in it's entirety Belle Epoque French, with all the implications that come with it.

I loved this game. The subspace portions sucked ass so I would agree if that's what turned you off to the final chapter. It's super video-gamey which I loved and the boss fights were 10/10.

I also echo it's more for normies than people who are critical about their story/plot investment being respected and if you pay to close attention you can see where they hit crunch and patched stuff together. The Persona style camera jumping in combat makes some people sick and the parrying takes oldschool turn-based strategy down a few notches. Art design doesn't do it for me, music is the best part of the game hands down. Solid 6/10 and good for a first game but has its flaws. Hoping I'll enjoy the movie better whenever that happens.

True innovation here guys, nigger hair tech. Mayb focus on the dumpster fire your company is right now.

Not if I'm allowed to share a direct link to the game but I recently discovered that someone uploaded Fable III on Internet Archive.
So far the game runs pretty well, just make sure you run FableLauncher.exe when you try to start the game.
Pretty cool to finally play this game on PC since it was impossible to do so due to Games for Windows – Live got discontinued.

Now if only the game was good.

I have been monitoring the RAM situation pretty closely and I cant help but be concerned about the future (well, in new unique ways).

Really shaping that this will affect the entire industry, independently if you're console or PC gamer as hardware prices are skyrocketing as a result of mega corporations mass buying components (like RAM and HDD) for server farms in the billions. But you see, the manufacturers cant keep up with the demand ranging in the fucking billions so they empty their stocks and whatever new units they make is already "reserved" for these buyers, leaving whatever is left for the peasant consumer drastically inflated, hell same goes to other manufacturers that use these components in their own devices, also leading to THEIR prices being inflated.

And with manufacturers of these components, like the snakes at Nvidia, demonstrating absolute little interest in the consumer base out of nowhere, I cant help but wonder if this is all a result of the action of those as short sighted as they are rich or "All part of the plan".

What is "the plan" in this case? Well, it is the same one it always has, you, pleb, owning nothing and having to be happy with the little you are allowed to have (or necking yourself, the elites dont care either way). Because you see, like most new techs, things like "remote playing" games, often painted as "fancy, awesome ways to play your games without those pesky clumsy pieces of hardware consuming precious space in your pod apartament" feel like are being setup to be used against the public one way or the other. Do you think they would miss the opportunity of literally pricing us out of gaming, an extremely profitable industry I might add, through the hardware we have bought and own to, instead, have these things hopelessly reliant on them and their "renting/subscriptions" ? With all the benefits (to them) that comes with it, like control to just pull the plug at any moment the moment you do something "undesirable" ?

The harsh black pill is that the elites are a breed of psychopaths and sociopaths that live to control others and they have nothing but disdain for anyone that commits the heavy crime of not being them. Would it be above them crash the industry and sell the solution in the form of these subscription models? We all know it wouldnt.

And lets not pretend we arent seeing this with SOFTWARE already, our games are nothing but "licenses" after all, so what makes you think they wouldnt evolve towards HARDWARE?

It is becoming really hard to find something they arent destroying and then imposing control over the ashes.

Maybe Im just being schizo and this is all the result of equally scary levels of incompetence and shortsightedness from the powers that be, they are investing money they dont have on components the manufacturers dont have enough of and all for a tech that doesnt have much to show for. All setting itself for a bubble burst that might legit lead to another economic crash (which is like, the third or fourth this quarter of a century alone?) that we know they will run towards the government for bail outs and have the average joe foot the bill as it usually happens.

Sorry if this came off as a tad black pill-ish but it is difficult not to be when your two options are that the powers that be are either that corrupt or that idiotic (well, both but either one or the other more)

It pisses me off to see the inflation of hardware due to corporate greed as well. Brief rant: seeing server farms and data centers pop up everywhere, along with AI-powered "enhancements" being shoehorned into things that didn't need AI or ML to begin with, just makes me want to fedpost some of the executives pushing this stuff. It's frustrating as hell seeing a hobby enjoyed by nerds get whitewashed and stripped of identity (and accessibility to your average joe) because of profits.

So how do you all handle your gaming backlogs or general "choice paralysis" when it comes to games?
I have a bunch of stuff installed / or install some random games and then just start playing. Either I stick with it or move on. I also made a plan last year for a bunch of games I wanted to play, which worked out okay. What also might help is playing through a series in order, or just focusing on a specific genre.
If you don't feel like playing anything new, that's fine too, replaying games or spending time with forever games is fine too.

QUOD: https://daivuk.itch.io/quod
This entire game fits into a 64 KB executable - including all textures, levels, models, animations, sounds, music, and code.

It’s a retro shooter with 3 levels, 1 boss fight, 4 unique enemies, 4 weapons, and a handful of power-ups.

Minimum specs

  • Intel i5 or equivalent
  • GTX 770 or equivalent
  • 8 GB RAM
  • 64 KB disk space
There are two versions: compressed (64 KB) and uncompressed.
The compressed build might trigger antivirus warnings, so you may need to add a folder exception.
If you’d rather avoid that, an uncompressed version is also available.

So how do you all handle your gaming backlogs or general "choice paralysis" when it comes to games?
RNG the pick and set yourself a time limit, 2-3hrs for example. If you have any inkling to move on by then, you toss what you're playing onto the bottom of the list for later.

Cyberpunk Melee combat feels shockingly good for a first-person Action RPG, slicing up niggas with a Katana will never not feel more fun then it should be
So how do you all handle your gaming backlogs or general "choice paralysis" when it comes to games?
I don't generally, I don't think im affected by choice paralysis as much these days as when I was younger, often times ill end up defaulting to Crusader Kings 3 when I have nothing else in mind

So how do you all handle your gaming backlogs or general "choice paralysis" when it comes to games?
I will say that mindset of needing to do it and then being disappointed that you haven't gotten through it yet is a bad one. Now you're turning it into work or a chore you're procrastinating with. You have to be aware you'll never actually finish the backlog, there's too many games. You're supposed to enjoy this so remove the sense of obligation from your brain and you'll be happier with the whole engagement. A lot of the paralysis is likely tied to how daunting the task of experiencing everything is.

The other thing is there's plenty of ways to scratch the itch without always trying something new like replaying something you've played on a new difficulty or something. Also there's nothing wrong with having a comfort game you can always play, you're not gonna always wanna play something new.
