I fucking hate how every PvP game now has to be either a hero shooter, an extraction shooter, and a battle royale, cant ever have plain arena games coming out (that doesn't have NASA level system requirements and performs like shit even if you do, fucking Cod) out of the three of those I only enjoy Hero Shooters, other than OW and TF2 it feels like anything else is boring
Man i feel you from my heart. I want a game like Planetside 2 but not in the 6th Circle of of development hell. But what do we get ? Battleborn 2.0 3.,2 5.7 8!
The worst part about this is how braindead AAA/AA devs release hero/extraction shooter nr.900501.2 but now with: dr.extra-ugly-nigger-"woman", grandma navyseal-copypasta and jack-o-fag (they) the bisexual robot with a quirky pumpkin head
and act like GAMER CHUDS JUST HATE NEW AND INNOVATIVE™ GAMES AND THE EBIL NAZI YOUTUBERS KILL THEM ON PURPOSE! when only 6 people and a goat play it.

You would think that after several titles just crashed and burned with fewer players than the average asset flip that they would get the message that the market for this trash is oversaturated 110% but nope. Every few months there is a new game like that and we play groundhog day again.
At least they make for infinite background slop youtube content i guess.

i just think it's really fucking funny that the entire market converged onto overwatch clones because blizzard made a tf2 clone during the period where valve was radio silent for years about the state of the game during the peak of the race/gender identity politics hysteria, and it seemed like a pretty clear cut case of hiegelian dielectics - tf2 came up with the gameplay, but overwatch came up with a much more popular art style and framework to attract a larger fanbase in the modern era. I would have said this like eight years ago because it seemed in the beginning that hyper-diversity really wasn't all that bad of an idea for a game like overwatch because it gave them more tools to expand the clear visual design language for classes/heroes. I think it is actually a cool idea to have gay and weak utility characters that are not particularly good at combat in your combat brawler. It makes things interesting if you aren't punished for trying new strategies out.

Then they decided to try and pretend that it was never a tf2 clone, that it was a MOBA that would punish you for trying new strategies out, and absolutely fucked the whole thing up so bad that you can't even tell what the heroes do by looking at them. You had ONE FUCKING JOB!

it’s really an indictment of the current state of the games industry as far as multiplayer goes when they have become so tone deaf that people start clamoring for the piss filter era they don’t make anything for an actual target audience, 25 and older crowd doesn’t care for mass market slop to the point where even if they are SOME good aspects about the gameplay they already assume a failure and don’t buy it at launch i have a fairly large steam library and i have no incentive to add shovelware to it, and under 25s mostly play roblox or fortnite with the nerdier ones maybe getting into nintendo as well either they cannot accept the fact there is no audience for Troonslop or far more likely in my opinion, the stock market enables them to churn out shit and investors still buy anyway

Games aren't really made for mass audiences anymore, they're made to attract an audience sure but they make most of their money from a small subset of the playerbase. The whales. Introducing real money into some balance factor of the game, hell even just cosmetics, means that there are going to be people who spend a thousand dollars on it. The entire video game industry has been built around those people ever since physical distribution stopped being a thing. a game like Eve Online could pull off monetizing their entire in game economy two decades ago because they spend all of their development effort maintaining their core playerbase, they're just throwing a bone to the people willing to pay them shitloads of money. In the current BattlePass ecosystem game developers will literally spend 3 months on content 75% of the playerbase just won't use

it makes sense that they don't want to spend effort on the playerbase that doesn't have a lot of disposable income but you also need a large playerbase to attract whales to show off to. I think perhaps something playing into this is that DEI shit is Marxism with a bunch of extra identity politics on top and Marxism loathes the concept of showing off to your peers. The entire sociological framework they're applying to these games just fundamentally does not understand the main motivators for how these kinds of games are known to work. They keep trying to make extraction shooters without trophies and gloating, they keep making them with TEAMWORK and SEASONAL UNLOCKS which is a fundamental misunderstanding of the basic appeal of the genre

I remember playing with random-ass loadouts in MW2. Spaz one-shotting, one-man army RPG loadouts you switched between for free armor. Using a graphic reduction program to remove the hedges in the middle of that hedghed map, giving you easy view over it to shoot people. Use a gun enough and you get camos, but quickly unlike BF6 where you get one every 200 kills, if even that.

I miss being a regular. Joining a server every day and making friends until it turns friday and you get drunk playing with them. I think it's why I still play WoW now and then; it's one of few places left you can log in and partake without it being a matchmade 10 min shitshow.

Oh. Nice. Raiden Fighters is getting a collection.

I find it highly amusing that out of the games that are allegedly coming out this year, three of the ones I'm looking forward to are collections of older games. MGS Collection 2 (which adds MGS4 and frees it from the PS3 and Peace Walker, which I've never played), the above mentioned Raiden Fighters Collection, and the Marvel Maximum collection. Only real new games I'm looking forward to is Ace Combat 8 and the John Wick game. Everything else, I'm kinda "meh" over until it releases. I was kind of interested in checking out the new 007 game, but quickly stopped giving a shit once the devs opened their mouths and said how Bond as a character made them uncomfy. Fuck off.

You know what'd be nice? A new You Don't Know Jack game. Like the 2011 one. 2015 and Full Stream felt kinda deflated. Plus the series is so focused on being topical for its time of release, and Full Stream came out 8 years ago.

Come on. It's tiiiiiiiiiime for a new one.

I'd do some shady things to get a DRM free version of diablo 2 to play with friends, does diablo 1 work online on GOG?
I'm pretty sure Blizzard's official latest release of the original Diablo 2 up to V1.14d was DRM free. I played it with a friend and when we did I just sent him my copy and it worked. Of course, you can't use battle.net, but Hamachi or Radmin works for multiplayer via TCP/IP.
