Every generation, you get an objectively better experience on measurably older hardware. These supposed "well-optimized" games of the past ran like dog shit on high-end machines. It's not relative. 320x200 @ 20 fps was never easy to look at, not even at the time.
This is kind of true, tbh. Now that i think about it, back in the late 00's the GPU/CPU technology was evolving so rapidly that we went from a Pentium 4 (which was a single-core CPU) to CPUs like the Intel Quad Core, which felt like overkill to me at the time, but any game released after multi-core CPUs ran like shit on single core CPUs.
I can say that i spent about ten years with the same build (I5 4th gen and a GTX 770) and only after 2020 i felt the need to upgrade. What i was playing at the time was mostly CS:GO and JRPGs, so i honestly could have stayed with the same PC for even longer, since the JRPGs i play are not that graphically intensive.
Honestly? If you are not a zoomer you can probably get away with a shitty PC/Laptop. The only reason i upgraded my PC was because i needed it for work-related stuff, but for gaming i didn't care as much because there was enough fun to be had with emulators and whatnot.

Now, i think what people dislike more about modern games is how they are released in an unfinished state or filled to the brim with DRM. Usually they do run better after launch, specially after companies remove DRM from it. Look at the MH Wilds shit, the game was running WORSE if you didn't buy all the DLC because the game was constantly checking in the background if you had DLC or not. "Anti-tampering measures" like Denuvo and other DRMs make the experience of paying customer worse than that of pirates because of how CPU intensive it is to have Denuvo on the background (plus, people not being able to launch offline games if their internet is out because some DRMs require internet connection).
Recently Capcom/Gog published on Steam old Resident Evil titles and, if i'm not mistaken, they come with anti-piracy DRM (it's not Denuvo, it's something else). Why the fuck do they need DRM on a 30 year old game? It's that type of shit that makes people mad at vydia nowadays.

I can't be bothered to look for the data, but one that really jumped out to me was Vex talking about how well-optimized Battlefield 3 was, shitting his pants in outrage that some recent game needed to use DLSS to crest 100 fps or something. I remembered that game launching to mass frustration because it ran like dog shit on even recent high-end hardware. I found an old article showing that basically you were not running BF3 at 60 fps and max settings until the year after launch, because necessary hardware didn't even exist at the time. There's some legit stupid shit like what you said about MH:W and DLC checking, but it's not like a game running like piss for some stupid reason was unknown back then. Deus Ex was running on an engine from the late 90s and still managed to run like a fat pig on current hardware. Splinter Cell barely managed 30 fps on most current-gen machines. Doom 3 ran like a dry turd on rigs of the time. And if you had a 5-year-old PC, you flat-out were not running any new games at all.

Finished Puzzle Spy International, one of the games I had my eye on ever since the puzzle fest on Steam.

  • It's very short, roughly 10-11 puzzles in tota=l=2-3 hours.
  • All the puzzles are word puzzles of some variety. For example:
    • Finding a common prefix/suffix to a group of four words
    • Figuring out a very pun heavy naming scheme
    • Being given a list of instructions and three starting words, and needing to figure out which instructions fit where and in what order(this one felt a bit shaky because unless you have the check solution toggle on you'll not know which of the 3 instructions that fit are relevant here)
    • Crossword+fitting each word onto a map like Tetris
  • It's a fairly charming game and the effort put into the puzzle makes me want more.
  • (the 'woke' stuff)
    • One puzzle's answer refers to a dutchman as a colonizer. In the context of the puzzle it's a good answer but I know some people don't like that sort of stuff. A later puzzle has an answer in stating(which is/was a shameful fact but still, rude) you can only visit some archaeological sites in Egypt with a bribe so everyone's getting shat on equally I suppose
    • There are "dialog trees" before and after each puzzle which are mainly just short comedic bits. You can choose whether Agent Epsilon(your character) is flirty or professional with her contacts, which include a woman. I haven't picked them and I assume the game just plays it off in a very lighthearted way since there isn't much to the dialog.
I'd recommend playing it with a sibling/child because it would be fun figuring out the word connections.

For Sony and Nintendo it's only the American branches, the Japanese sides still have men in charge.

Whatever you have to keep telling yourself, sweetheart. There was a big stink not too long ago over the American branch at Sony practically DEMANDING the higher ups at the Japanese branch that literally all internal emails and documents be printed in English. Did we all just forget about that particular brand of bullshit overnight?

I've had an eye on that one for a good while, so glad to hear it seems to be good. I'll have to check it out.

Playstation's CEO is a woman, Xbox's CEO is a woman, Nintendo's CEO is a woman. What the fuck are we doing here, fellas?
Games stopped being made with passion by talented and creative straight white nerds more than a decade ago. It's women, blacks, fags and trannies at every single studio now. Personally i bought one new game last year and it looks like I'm buying only one this year as well. Gaming is shit, seems like i have ONE game a year to look forward to now. i just play old ps2 games at this point. Shits fucking grim man.

I'm only interested in maybe two, and one of those is literally a collection of a couple of older games. It's actually kinda sad.

Really is isn't it?

Silver lining, it gives me an excuse to play games in my backlog, and play older classics i never had the means to play as a kid.

I played Parasite Eve a few weeks ago and adored it, bought Wicked Seed because of it which is a spiritual successor that wasn't ever on my radar in the first place. That also led to me wishlisting Parasite Mutant and 45. Parabellum Bloodhound as well.

I would say I'm shocked more games haven't tried to do something with Parasite Eve's combat but modern games can't innovate at all. Everything has to be the most vanilla, boring shit that's done gangbusters in the past. Everything is shit I've already played before, hundreds of times in fact. No new combat systems, no new interesting IP's no new stories or idea's, in fact it's all very noticeably worse than it used to be. Because none of the women, indians, trannies and faggots making games anymore have a shred of integrity, pride, talent or creativity, they take games that they had NO involvement in that were made years ago and think they can do better than the original developers and "Remake" it. They then proceed to completely miss what made the originals magical and special, ass rape people's childhoods and repackage it back to them for a premium, just so retards that never played the original instantly think it's better than what came before and push the actual fans out of their own fucking niche.

Everything is either the four billionth COD, Sony movie game, open world slop or a remake/remaster of a game that already sold copies hand over fist in it's heyday such as Silent Hill and Resident Evil. Yet people still buy every new goddamn game that comes out for 70 bucks, play it for a weekend and immediately move onto the next thing, it's fucking sad seeing what my favorite hobby has turned into because of the dumbfuck tourists who made it this way by buying every single new goddamn game to hit the market.

Companies don't give two fucking shits what your opinion is on a game after you've bought it, if you've given them money you automatically love whatever they've made in their mind, because all that matters to these fucking leeches is money, vote with your wallet.

But people have no standards anymore, so when a game that would have been an average to below average game 20 years ago comes out it's automatically a masterpiece 10/10 game of the year a la Expedition 33 and Crimson Desert, just more slop to buy and put in your piggie trough to wring you of every dime you have with microtransactions and thousand's of hours of procgen garbage and inane boring nigger work without ANY of it being fun.

And if it's not fun, why bother?

Totally random but some really high dude on my friends list joined a fortnite game mid match with my friend who had the tung tung skin on and said “are you a cinnamon stick” and you could hear his controller audibly fall to the ground and we lost our shit laughing

I wanna kick off my first post here just sharing some more recent stuff ive been playing. I finished my first proper run of Lords of the fallen today, it's an adequate enough soulslike(that is unusually dark and hard to see at times).

I've been going through the new Tokyo extreme racer, a series thats been going since the Dreamcast. It's akin to Initial D and is very good. I also have been in the post game of Pokopia, which has been a pretty fun game to my surprise.

I finished Demon Souls remake, and am working through Dread delusion, Darwins paradox, replaying Halo/Gears of war, Romeo is dead man and Armored core. I find great games pretty often, I'll pop in here more.

I ended up grabbing it with PS+ today as well and was thinking about jumping in with it. Anything weird to make note of to watch out for, or is it pretty straight forward?
You'll likely struggle with how dark it is sometimes and in those areas, there's some cheap enemy placement so it can be frustrating. Otherwise, its relatively straightforward. I also dont think its a bad idea to use a quest guide for this one. It's very vague at times.

The co-op has shared progression so its easy to play with a friend as well

Not sure where I should put this but I had to post it somewhere on the farms. Game is Satisfactory which only has female player models, and is very good despite that flaw.
