They're definitely right about him being horrified at the ahegao shirt guys and unfunny Reddit users, but wrong about everything else. I think Vinny just hates every single fan he has. He loves them for supporting his career, but he sure does not like them as people. And he's right.
Which is ironic because ahegao shirts is the exact level of humor and maturity that fits Tumblr. I hung around a lot of questioning guys in my teens, and as soon as they realized they could get reactions by acting The Big Gay in game servers and voice calls, they made it their personality. That's the same level of reaction-baiting that people who think ahegao is funny has. "W-wait, I can talk about porn as if nothing and get reactions!?". I've more respect for people who crop hentai as their profile picture and move on with their lives. Vinny may have had sperg furry moderators, but at least they were upfront about it.
Don't know if anyone's noticed this, but Limes lost her Twitch Staff status. The wrench doesn't show up near her name anymore. Guess she got tired of it, if one actually DOES anything as Twitch Staff.
She works at Twitch IRL iirc. It does seem a bit counter-intuitive to have the badge of staff displaying as a verified streamer when that alone already puts you in a very respected group of people and gets you immediate attention when visiting other streamers. If anything, being related to the business side of things would be detrimental to your clout.
Vinny's streams are literally marked for "mature audiences," too - he's done everything a guy can to let it be known that his streams and videos contain adult humor, like dick jokes and stuff. Beyond that, he is not responsible for who is watching his streams, and people pretending that that's the case are delusional. It's not like he's going into kids' games and talking about porn or whatever the fuck.
I know it's not on him, but he's really not helping the case. He's a manchild, playing in a band, streaming majorly Nintendo-esque indie games, while his humor is "haha fart" most of the time. Being a Vinesauce fan is a very, very descriptive trait these days, because that's a very niche appeal; finding jabroni and Danny DeVito fucking hilarious. Regrettably, I still make use of Second Life now and then, and while hugely anecdotal, it hits the exact point of the Vinesauce audience, I feel.
Second Life is a 3D chat advertising itself as a way to socialize while literally every aspect of it is hugely sexual, but in such a way that it almost comes across as normal. Where do we see this? Furries, weebs, 'memers', ahegao shirt-wearers. And all these are big groups in SL. It's made up of subcommunities that are all bound in porn andn can be categorized into two groups: "I'm here for the porn and wear the avatar that reflects that" and "I'm so used to porn it doesn't strike me as abnormal and I'm here as 'me' and want to advertise as such". Furries with oversized dicks on display in public, part of several meme groups, describes themselves as 'thicc' and have a Vinesauce mushroom in their digital apartment.
You could honestly tell me that Vinesauce is an adult stream to my face and I still wouldn't believe it. Sodapoppin is a top 10/world streamer who goes on VRchat and talks about jerking off. His audience is ~14-18 year olds, and he's more typically adult than Vinny could ever be. Vinny celebrates cute games, art and drawings, inside jokes, and "haha chungus". He slapped a +18-only sticker on his kids' show just to get away with a dick joke now and then. It's honestly a cop-out. "Why does this birthday party full of ballons and mascots have an age requirement of 18?", and then when someone starts whippin their dick out they can go "You saw the sign!".
The entire Vinesauce team lives in their own little weird bubble. None of them play by the same rules as single streamers, but Vinny especially seems to consider himself so far out from Twitch whereas the others, such as Limes, typically just comes across as a quiet small-time streamer with no real conflicts. Joel is a bit more vocal about his expectations of his audience, whereas Vinny seems to just fucking loathe streaming and interacting yet does nothing to change his way or enforce a change in behavior. "Yo guys, I've recently seen a lot of debate about the contents of this channel-" etc.
Literally nowhere on his channel does it imply it's a mature stream. His icon is a fucking Mario mushroom for crying out loud. Even his "community issues" google doc doesn't address anything to do with content. I don't receive an age-check upon going to the channel, but even if that's all he did to get his point across, it's yet again a complete cop-out. People automatically click through age-gating constantly. In general Vinny just isn't a likeable guy or a good streamer? Corruptions is his whole schtick and yet again, a very child-friendly category of content that doesn't help cementing his "We're adults actually" trump card.
