New edition of steins gate announced

"Steins Gate Reboot" Officially Announced! New Graphic & Story Additions! Release Date: 2025
This is making me feel some type of way. (insert He's already dead Simpsons clip here)
I guess it can't be worse then SG;0 at least?
I really don't understand the point of rebooting a VN. It's not like the increased fidelity of modern hardware is going to be utilized.

Also I thought Mages died.

They entered the Japanese equivalent of bankruptcy protection. It's a great reason to focus on the important stuff:

As recently as a few months ago they put out the new Famicom Detective Club game.

After going through half of Nie No Hakoniwa I did the last half by fast forwarding through every non important scene.

It's pretty shit. It had potential but it just doesn't use anything for any emotional peak, shit just happens and every character sucks too much to care about them, especially when nearly every character is cartoonishly vile and the few good characters have giant death flags so there is no reason to get attached.

The setup sounds like a horror material, but nothing with tension ever happens past the 1/3 point.
There was a lot of focus on the island politics but absolutely non of it comes into play, everyone but the protagonist is insanely passive.
The characters go insane at the halfway mark but it doesn't go full denpa so there is no escalation in delusions or any scenes that can be interpreted in different ways.
The protagonist is a super ninja but there is no action or tension, he just insta wins everything besides one time that has no justification and is a giant plothole (and there are a lot of those).
The romance is just shallow "women immediately fall for chad thundercock" and it never builds up.
It isn't even good misery porn since the so called sympathetic characters are just unbelievable.
The only thing I can say the game has is gorn, which I personally find disgusting. And the non gorn porn scenes are just not very stimulating.

The game also has strange moralising about the subject of women being discriminated for infertility/not having boys, which is a pretty empty moralising (just about every kind of disability/inability gets you discriminated against throughout history). It's also hypocritical as the game has a lot of emasculation against the various evil men, so it's usual "only insulting women is bad".

Also the game is set on what looks like 1920 Japan but somehow it's easy to verify teenagers can get pregnant? Isn't this something that can only be found for adults post puberty?

Agree, what mate? What anime bullshit is this?
Since the game likes to push the idea of how bad it is to expect women to have male babies, one of the locations is a hospital where children of wealthy families that are barren are put indefinitely. And later scene has a character giving a medical exam (not shown thank god) to see if she is barren. With the former I don't know how they can check it barring cases of deformities or extreme injury.

That sounds like some horror movie shit. Gives me the ick, would not play.

Within young women, one of the main causes of infertility is POI, Primary Ovarian Insufficiency. It's basically menopause at a young age, and can be diagnosed by the combined pressence of amenorrhea (lack of a period), hypergonadotropic hypogonadism (dimished activity of the gonads, which causes low levels of estrogen in females, as well as abnormal body measurements, particulary in the genital areas and breast), and hypoestrogenism (estrogen deficiency). The others are endometriosis (endometrial tissue outside the uterus), which you can diagnose with a biopsy (basically taking a piece of the tissue and analizing it with a microscope), and fallopian tube pathologies, among which include pelvic inflammatory disease, which you can diagnose by doing a laparoscopy (first performed in 1901 and which is basically an endoscopy around the pelvis/abdomen).

It's not really impossible for 1920s technology to diagnose such things, but it would be more akin to a guesstimation than a definitive diagnosis

AliceSoft classic, Galzoo Island finally got a fan translation! It looks goofy but it's an AliceSoft game, know what you're getting into. (Sukebei link here). The person who translated this went through the effort to translate the background signs too!

Since we're on the topic, why has every AliceSoft game other than fucking Evenicle not been brought to Steam? Why is furry rape sex with Hitler allowed but not Muramasa?

I'm absolutely convinced there are some danger-haired furry faggots who hate anime that are in charge of approving games. That's why you see furry games with all sorts of subhuman degeneracy getting a pass but anime gets the side-eye.

The excuse of "they look young" or "there's sex but it's not porn" is not true either because the games those troons do let through also have the same sexual content but it's just not in an art style they like. It's not even the porn-y stuff that triggers them since they denied Chaos;Noah and I saw nothing in that game that I didn't see in Baldur's Gay 3 or The Witcher in an even more explicit form.

I'd bet $1000 that if someone replaced uncensored Muv-Luv Alternative with fat trans POCs and submitted it with nothing else changed it would get approved. And that includes the twizzler scene.

It could be because those devs are more prominent within the industry/have powerful people backing them. You can buy Hunie Pop directly from Steam (altough censored), for example, and that game is glorified porn. But there's also games like Key to Home, which while not explicit (deservedly) got axed. It's probably in part due to favoritism and in part due to the fact that most companies that make VNs (particulary those that have been in the industry for a long time) already have their own webstores and don't see that much of a benefit from releasing their games on Steam. For example both Kanon and CLANNAD are currently aviable on Steam, but Air is not, and Kanon only got there recently because this is an HD version that's also voiced

I also probably subscribe to the theory that it probably is a revolving door of guys who just do it and a majority of them have some bias against anime VNs but not towards weird furry games. I just wish there was some consistency with the whole thing. Fortunately the boys at GOG don't really seem to give a shit but at that point I'd rather just pirate the VN as opposed to using another game launching site.

Jesus Christ I can't believe that game actually managed to get on to Steam. Good thing it got axed.

Man, Kara no Shoujo's intro song is just too good. Just stopped reading the novel, and I've been listening to it for hours.
Considering the pain it puts people through, it is probably a good thing you stopped reading it.

WHY DOES THE ENDING GET WORSE THE CLOSER IT IS TO THE TRUE ENDING

I forgot to say about the box game:
* It joins my weirdly growing list of games where the protagonist fucks his daughter.
* It has a tranny boy in drag though thankfully it's somewhat plot related and not something with social ramifications.... maybe, I did skip a ton of text.
* The heroine entire plan is based on being cucked. Behold the cuckbox:

Speaking of Kara no Shoujo I bought "The Shell part 1" that is apparently a remake of it that is split into two parts?

Okay after a break due to work I'm back on Higurashi and I'm rounding out the end of Meakashi. Holy hot damn is this getting good.

The original Western release was by Mangagamer using the Japanese name Kara no Shoujo, which is likely what most people played. The new releases on Steam are by a different company with HD images and adding in voice acting for the main character. There is also a new translation, although I don't know the quality compared to the original release.

Not sure on the new translation either but I want to shill MangaGamer's physical DRM free disc copies of Kara no Shojo:

I just think they're neat, and they even worked on my vintage Windows XP rig.

Shiravune is teasing a big announcement next week with the hashtag SinglesDay. I'm hoping what I'm always hoping. I wanna see Amakano get imported, I've made that clear. But, I think I might be on to something Amakano is THE big romance game franchise that we don't already have, and Shiravune has already imported it's sister game Amanatsu.

Or it's a shitty 2 hour nukige they're gonna sell for 30 bucks.
