If you really want to know everything that happened between the culprit's backstory, I'd read Confession of the Golden Witch. Some people say the EP8 Manga improves on a lot of the issues people have with the VN but I wholly disagree.Finished Umineko. I don't have much to say because wow that's a lot to digest.
Already have. Like 90% of what's in there was already the conclusion I'd came to after episode 7. It's good that they finally put a face to the person involved, but I feel like it mostly exists because of the brevity of the manga (the VN goes around in circles on this topic enough that I was able to piece it together indirectly even without confession). If you really want to know everything that happened between the culprit's backstory, I'd read Confession of the Golden Witch.
My only major complaints with Episode 8 are just Ryukishi being Ryukishi, namely:Some people say the EP8 Manga improves on a lot of the issues people have with the VN but I wholly disagree.
Yeah as I mentioned a couple of pages ago, people really hated the goats during the episode, assuming that it was Ryukishi trolling/making fun of the audience for not getting the mystery of the story. My only major complaints with Episode 8 are just Ryukishi being Ryukishi, namely:
1) The introduction of slow interactive segments right at the very end of a long-ass story (Higurashi did this too and I found it somewhat annoying there just from a QoL perspective).
2) Length. I get that it has to be long because it's an entire character arc for Ange who has only gotten incomplete development up until this point but man is it a slog to get through, especially compared to Higurashi's last answer arc which felt more like a victory lap
Otherwise, pretty incredible. Beautiful. I got legit choked up at parts. Also the trick ending is good even if it's not the intended path. If it was the only ending, I still probably would have been satisfied though obviously the magic ending hits much deeper.
Half the people I've talked to in other social groups either said they liked Higurashi better or preferred the manga because, "the mystery was easier to figure out."Yeah as I mentioned a couple of pages ago, people really hated the goats during the episode, assuming that it was Ryukishi trolling/making fun of the audience for not getting the mystery of the story. Is it all woke slop? I enjoyed VH but really hated the overt liberal identity politics it beat you over the head with.

I liked Umineko better (obviously) largely because Higurashi at times felt like a harem comedy. Both are amazing VNs, but you can clearly see a huge improvement in 07's work here. The diversity of characters, the themes it touches, and even the setting itself is cooler. Now if he could only finish Ciconia before I die so I can be happy.Fcret said:Half the people I've talked to in other social groups either said they liked Higurashi better or preferred the manga because, "the mystery was easier to figure out.
Tsukikana EN patch coming. Based off what keeps happening with every toneworks game, expect it to take two and a half years to come out and for everyone involved to break contact with the outside world and play Melty Blood forever after it does (Love you Trip).Imagine you've been sending text messages to yourself from 8 years ago, and one day he sends you a message "Congrats, you aren't a virgin anymore. Also, I killed a guy."
How is Demons Roots anyway? Picked it up on a Steam Sale and I'll probably get around to it when I do an RPGMaker game marathon.Okay, after finishing Demons Roots I'm starting Higurashi. The intro kinda clues you in to it not being a slice of life, but that moment with Rena in the garbage dump gave me chills.
Looking forward to finally taking on one of the classics.
It's very good. The writing and dialogue is fantastic, the gameplay is solid but nothing groundbreaking. There's enough optional content to create mechanical depth that's not there in the main quest, too. Deathpolca and her party are a great ensemble. How is Demons Roots anyway? I think the OG Higurashi conceit of it being slice of life is kinda impossible nowadays considering its reputation and the anime adaptation being so well-known and memetic.Okay, after finishing Demons Roots I'm starting Higurashi. You might be interested in reading it with HD visuals and a chart that helps you see some of the ARCS you may not know about. Higurashi is probably longer than Umineko if you count the optional stuff. There are also some ARCS that are manga exclusive, but were never finished. I can't recall the name of it off the top of my head, but it involves Mion/ShionLooking forward to finally taking on one of the classics.
Slay the Princess is absolute kino, the Adversary and Razor are among my favorite routes. It's western but Slay the Princess is a really good example I think. It's really well written with a simple premise that gets deeper and art that's animated from simple line drawings. It really stands out.
