Voice Actors - Complain about American/Canadian ones, Gush about Japanese ones, I guess

Most of them are indeed fat and are gonna be fat. All you're doing is standing in a booth or sitting on your ass at home recording. Its what they deserve tbh.

But what the fuck is with this trend of mature female characters with deep voices being replaced for high pitch feminine ones?

So far, Rouge the Bat, Rosalina from Mario, and Mai Valentine from YuGiOh (just found out about this one right now) got replaced with more feminine voices. That's lame as hell.

That's a shame, though isn't Megan Hollingshead retiring or something? That might be why (or she's unionized and Konami's getting tired of dealing with them).

But I have to wonder if it's because localizers want the voices to sound as close to the Japanese voices as possible. That's the only other explanation other than newblood female actors just being shit/not having natural deep voices.
 
Thread tax: Norio Wakamoto. I very much like this guy. He is almost 80 though, so I'll be bummed when he kicks the bucket in a few years
