I can vouch for the last three. Not sure about KLK's dub, though, since Ryuko sounds constipated in my opinion. I do like the dub version of Mako.

Ghost Stories is something you have to see to believe. Apparently, the VAs were given free license to dub as they please (vs having to rigidly follow the subbed version of events), and whoever arrived at the office first got to set the tone for the episode.


For Bobobo, the entire show is a drug trip. I decided to look at the manga to see if it's as crazy as the show, and if anything, the show is a lot tamer.

Yea, the manga is a total shitpost (and even at times a far cry from the actual show). Still, they're both hysterical.

I've seen a lot of conflicting stories over the years, about how the show bombed in Japan and that's why they let the VAs do whatever, and others saying the show had a moderate success and the VAs where just lazy faggots. I personally find it really funny but i hate how every shitty VA and their bootlickers use it to defend god awful dubs like everything Crunchyroll shits out where they talk about gamergate or the male gaze.

Regardless of the quality of the original, it was a reasonably popular show in Japan back in the day, rubbing shoulders in the ratings with series like Crayon Shin-chan, Doremon and Pokemon. The argument that it was a total bomb that thus deserved to have the "superior" gag dub made was based on lies that certain people bought into and helped spread.

How many times have I seen defenses of the ADV Ghost Stories dub trotted out as a "defense" for all of the times localizers have decided to flex their d0pe writing skillz and "improve problematic elements" in the works they're supposed to be translating, or insert their personal fanfiction DNA within someone else's hard work and act like they are the true creative involved. (The answer of course is: too many)

All sorts of "people" if they can be called that, including ex-SA goons and influencers love the Ghost Stories dub not because they think it's actually funny but more because it makes fun of those dreaded Chinese cartoons and makes "weebs " “upset”. By weebs of course, even if they won't admit it, they mean anyone who has even the mildest criticism of a dub or translation.

Meanwhile. in other matters, every English dub VA realizing that an "AI" whipped up in five minutes can easily replicate the one voice they do for every role they are cast in:

Is it only American voice actors that are huge pussies?
UK dubs for weeb games are better anyway, Dragon Quest and Ni No Kuni are so much better than any Atlus dub.

Not all of them. If we're talking about non-anime VAs, there are a lot of good ones, but holy fuck do not look up most of their respective social media pages, and this goes the same with most dubbing VAs

Some Canadian VAs are just as unhinged too. Terry McGurrin is one example, as he loved to sperg about Trump. I don't know if that changed, since Trump isn't in the Oval Office now. And there was the recent scandal about Christian Potenza getting allegations of abuse and stealing Canadian welfare money, which got him removed from his role of voicing Chris McLean in the Total Drama reboot, and was replaced by Terry McGurrin, in sort of irony.
