Put Grey DeLisle in the "Get off social media" list. Her behavior with regards to that AI threat show stupid she and Jay Lender are and shows further contempt for English voice actors and the entertainment industry. Just watch Vee's video on it.

VA's should get their voices patented and get a cut of the profits if when people make money using their AI voices. Instead they get mad like they are about to go out of business. No wonder most of them are broke, they have horrible business sense and I'd wager that Grey would have made more money if she didn't REE over this shit. over in WW Erica Lindbeck also lost her mind when someone used her voice.

Any and everyone at Pedowood (especially celebrities in general) are just unprofessional with their jobs, so they just spew up bullshit they keep pulling out of their asses and then act as if what they're saying is true. This is what happens with they still live in their fantasy world.

Not really because the voices from VAs are something that can't be patented (at least in the US).

As for the whole issue, I think it's really an issue because VAs often make money from other sources like convention appearances or sites like fiverr where a fan would pay them to say something in a character's voice. That's probably why a lot of the western VA industry is panicked about AI because AI will essentially take away a potential revenue stream for them since you can have the bot say a line you'd otherwise have to pay a VA to say, and with some exceptions, most Voice Actors are pretty much underpaid.

Then if they were smart they should push for laws on AI voices, it's clearly a revenue stream they can tap into to further spread they voice and win over more fans regardless if it's their own voice or an AI replicating it. Only reason why I am highballing/giving a white pilled take on VA losing their minds over AI is because it would likely be drowned out over the REEEIng over it. What could have been an opportunity is now something that will put them out of business and it's their own fault for not remaining calm and civil, something WW has demonstrated they clearly can't.

Looking at this list gave me some kind of realization. The people who can do 1 or at most 2 voices are the most likely to be a total douche online. Joshua Tomar can do a variety of different voices and I've never seen him sperg out on anything. Versus someone like Steve Blum and Patrick Seitz who can only do "murderous guy* voice 1 or "scheming guy* voice 3 and how often do they NOT make an ass of themself online.

Not to get OT but I heard this and Im.so curious about it. Where and why did that rumor come to be? Did he know things?

who and what happened to Chris latta?
His real name was Christopher Collins as his "Chris Latta" name was more of his stagename. He was the original voice actor behind Starscream in the original Transformers series and also both Mr. Burns and Moe in the first season of The Simpsons. He also had a few guest roles in two Star Trek series. He was diagnosed with intracerebral hemorrhage in 1992, and had died two years later after losing the battle against it.

Oh okay but I’m wondering why that other guy said he might be murdered if he died from a hemorrhage?

Yea, @Mr. 0 might've assumed that he was murdered, but he wasn't. I'm assuming that he might've been confused with another actor named Phil Hartman who was murdered by his wife in 1998.

Late. I kinda get what you mean, but I'd rather keeping sperging on twitter and their job-performance as separate thing.

I mean isn't that more like an issue from type casting in industry, probably more so on anime comparing to like cartoon and video games. Especially with more well known name like for some of those.
Like John DiMaggio can use same voice for a foul mouth Marcus Fenix (Gears of War), loud Scotsman (Samurai Jack) to a more kid friendly Jake the dog just fine. Grey DeLisle varies from bitchy - arrogant Azula, Diablo 3 Wizard to more toned down girly Daphne, seductive Batman Arkham Catwoman and more serious Starcraft Nova Terra.
Patrick Seitz can do someone nice like Starcraft 2 Artanis and Tekken 7 Bob.

Sure having voice range helps a lot for varied roles, but being type cast has its own benefit like you get more distinct what kind of roles these VAs can provide. Or you can get bunch of new freelance voice actors do bunch of roles, but there is no defined character that they do, just only happens to be a popular character. If you check voice actors list like Genshin for example, or any new anime games. I doubt there's that many or actual notable - recognizable EN VA, despite some of them already have quite many roles before.
Then again, it's up to whatever voice casting choice and crappy situation in EN industry.

I mean JP side is also "guilty" with VAs using same voice, but at least they allow VAs to branch into different type of characters more. Like Hiroshi Kamiya from couple of pages ago, he voices varied level of shady, arrogant, actual assholes type to comedy straight man with bunch of inner monologues (thoughtful kind) to monotone serious person. It's his performance on those roles are convincing and good. all of them feels fitting, despite those characters pretty much sounds a lot the same.

Daisuke Ono, people kinda forgetting him was Sebastian from Black Butler before Joutaro from Jojo. For now, just memeing on Ora Ora Ora macho man rather than the ikeman type he does. Then you have him as Kalego being serious and "easily bullied" comedy type in Iruma-kun.

So Charles Martinet is retiring from the voice of Mario, Luigi, Wario, and Waluigi.

On one hand its nearly impossible to imagine someone else doing the voices as whoever they are, will be needing to fill in big shoes.
It was only a matter of time before he was to step down since he's of the proper retirement age, and it's him showing actual professionalism in understanding he can't be there forever, and so it's time for him to pass on the torch. We have enough people out there who can do a proper Mario imitation and would be honored to take the role, the problem is finding one who's not pozzed.

I think he can still make con appearances and his Instagram videos, so it's not like we're never going to hear from him again. 'Course, given [current year] taking away so many beloved celebrities, we might end up losing him sooner than we think, which is a day I'm not looking forward to, honestly.

He retired from the role to become a Mario Representative, it's hard to put into words how much this shaped our childhoods even if indirectly. I'm happy to see him go out on his own terms especially since getting to be the voice of what is essentially the face of Video Games is a great honor. I hope he enjoys his new life whatever he chooses to do.

I was actually lucky to get an autograph from him a few years back at the con, and I still have his autographed Wario and Waluigi photo to this day.

Honestly, it's difficult to see who will top Martinet's own Mickey sounding Italian voice that we've been used to, and someone has to be good at it, but I would not mind the return of Brooklyn-accent Mario.
