In (my) local news, the VA for Shrek (among others), a very respected and professional actor called Alfonso Obregón, says he might not be back to voice him because he said that VA doing the dubbing should be credited as people are listening to them and not the OG voices. He recently said that his condition to going back to voice Shrek is that he's credited. His words were something like people in Hispanic America, here in LatAm and in US, go to the movies expecting to listen his voice and works and not Mike Myers. He is not wrong.
Because of this, he says he's been threatened by people and he's been removed from working other voices he's done for years, and those threats including to leak a video of him when he was falsely accused of sex misconduct by a student, which sent him to jail for six months until he was able to prove his innocence.
For those who don't know how much he's acknowledged as the voice of Shrek, when he was in jail, he was terrified that he would be assaulted or raped, and he started doing Shrek voice and other voices for the inmates and not only they asked him to make videos and recordings for their families and kids, they also protected him. He is that beloved.
