Voltron Fandom - Bury your gays!

It's awfully reminiscent of FE Fates fandom when the game had same-sex marriage options, but they weren't innocent sweet-faced woobie cinnamon rolls so whiny babies started rumors that the sappy devoted knight and the pretty singer who served as the protag's bestie were meant to be the options and the meanie programmers took them away. "LGBT representation matters! But only when it's how WE want it done, otherwise it's yucky scraps and we don't want it!"

And LOL at the second person's lack of self-awareness.

I kind of understand the complaints with Rhajat (rehash of a creepy stalker character) considering Niles was a charming and charismatic option for the dudes. FE fates had its own slew of discourse, the difference being Nintendo doesn’t give a fuck what the west thinks, less so now that Treehouse is good and dead.

"halp halp it's been almost six months and I and my posse cannot get over a children's show"

Also, the lack of self awareness from this other person is hilarious.

This person: [blindly and stupidly eats up the bullshit from the above mentioned, VERY biased and VERY unreliable Buzzfeed article that is simply a remix of all the anti-s8 wailing from butthurt Sheith fans who cannot accept that they aren't the showrunners, including: deliberate misquoting stuff said by the staff, attempting to pass the fans' obsession with the Sheith ship as activism, bashing of the female character who's believed to have near become Keith's love interest, etc.. ]
Also this person: BUT WHY WON'T THIS FANDOM GET ALONG??? WHY DO PEOPLE HATE US?? PLEASE BE NICE, PLEASE BE GOOD!!!

Dunno kid, you're one of THESE Sheith fans who still rages after six months, why are you pretending that you're above it all? 🤔

Anyone have any info about this comic? I thought this thread had served its purpose after everything blew over but I’d love fresh salt.

It was just the localized version of her supports with Corrin that amped up the Tharja rehash. The rest of her supports were better written and more consistent, she came off as more of a social misfit goth nerd who just wanted friends but didn't know how to approach people.

The comic apparently takes place during the year after S8's ending and before the epilogue, so Allura is still dead/not back yet and Shiro/Curtis is gonna get some development.

Why are faggots ruining kid shows?
Because these gals never moved on from writing shitty HP Slashfic when they were young teens. A decade ago these Fujoshits would have been mocked and forced into the underbelly of the internet by actual fans but thanks to the current PC zeitgeist they are able to mask their perversion as "progressiveness".

It got worse in FE Echoes where the fandom decided to embrace Leon, who’s pretty stereotypical for a gay guy.

People still aren’t over it
Someone needs to blast Let It Go from Frozen at these people at full volume every time they whine about this shit. People like this make me hope that when the new comics come out they're half Shiro/Curtis content. Bonus points if they use tired old tropes used by every Sheith BNF in existence, and the Matchmaker Friend is none other than Keith himself.

Apparently the new comics will focus more on Shiro and Curtis, so we’re halfway there already.

Leon's great cause the sassy types always are and he was my best archer in the main game, but he was camp as fuck right down to sharing a dub voice with Zoisite, who's also pretty damn stereotypical by today's standards.

They'd just get mad that someone's appropriating a totes lesbian uwu power song.

Anyway, these twits are why, when I see a show being praised for "LGBT representation yay!", I don't let my kids anywhere near it. These things always seem to attract a toxic fanbase of fetishists and pedo-apologists--and considering their tendency to insist that all affection is sexual, I think I'd rather not take any risks.

If they want to dress up my parenting as some sort of phobia, they can, but they're why these shows hemorrhage viewers. They colonize kids' media fandoms and then drive the kids out--and there's not enough of them to make it worth producing a high-cost show.

Exactly. This was meant to be a show for kids that could also appeal to older fans, especially ones who grew up with 80s Voltron. This is the problem with making quality shows for kids with good stories and more mature themes that generally treat kids like they're mature and smart people who understand such things. They're easy for adults to latch onto and be entitled sperglords about. You didn't hear about grownups 20 years ago demanding CINAR remake the final episode of David the Gnome, or parents who watched Sesame Street storming PBS because Maria married Luis instead of David.

So it seems the once-planned VLD last comics won't be made, probably because LF is merging with another company.

Unsurprisingly, the butthurt "woke fans" are fingering themselves to orgasm. Because IF WE DIDN'T GET OUR SHIP oops OUR ENDING, THEN NO ONE SHOULD BE HAPPY!!!

Damn, beat me to it!

What I love is how these brats think they won even though the comics were cancelled for reasons unrelated to their tantrums. Whatever, let them think that if it helps them sleep at night. I just hope once they stop making new Voltron comic the worst of the fans will move on and ruin something else.

Their fetishized homophobia is so transparent, it hurts. Because the main reason these "fans" were against the comics is because they MAY have given development to the canon same-sex ship they dislike (more often than not, because it sunk the one they wanted). If Teh Geis are not written in ways that please these brats, then NO ONE should have any kind of Teh Gheis.

I'm also amused AF by this "THE FANDOM WILL LIVE ON PAST THIS". Dudes like, all you've done is bully and harass either other fans or the staff themselves. YOU were poisoning the VLD fandom well from the very beginning with your tit-tantrums and your screeching, so stop pretending your shit smells good at all.

Ah, don't you love it when retarded shippers think they speak for the whole fandom? How would they like it if everyone who loved S8 did that to them? "Well, I think we can all agree that S8 was fine even if it was flawed. What's that? You hated it and it made you shake and cry for weeks because your ship didn't happen? Well, then you're stupid and your opinion doesn't count!" You can bet that'd go over well. In fact, someone should try it and we'll all bring popcorn and booze to watch the meltdown.

I'm fairly sure that the critics actually liked s8, or at least didn't think it was too terrible. The "fans" are the ones hysterically mad over it. :story:

Yeah, the critic score on RT was fairly high. 86%, in fact. But fans think only THEIR opinions matter and have any bearing on a show's quality or longevity. While fans account for a big chunk of the ratings, so do critics, and critics are a LOT pickier cause it's their job. So obviously the season wasn't the horribly gaybaiting fridging OOC badfic of a train wreck the fans claim it is.

The Voltron discourse is so bad that I actually can't decide if this shitty fanbase deserved to have a cancelled comic (which happened outside of anyone's control) or if it needed to keep going despite the screaming babies.

So here's a question: Was it ever possible, for a time, to be able to kill the root of the problem before it got out-of-control and turned a dumpster fire into a nuclear meltdown? What could've been done to have made the fanbase less shitty?

As far as I can tell, cutting off all internet access for the worst of them. Or if they all happened to lose access at the same time around S2 and didn't get it back until S7. But that would mean being able to predict which fans would be the batshit ones and sometimes perfectly sane fans go off the rails if they don't get their way.
