This thread is kind of of old so is securitykiss still a good free vpn and if not can you tell me a good one.

VPNs are good for pirating or keeping your IP away from random tranny jannies.

Even if a VPN provider wouldn't cooperate with the government, the pressure/spy tools always could be applied a level above, for example on the data center hosting the VPN servers. The bigger a company is, the more likely it is actually to cooperate with such government demands. I don't really think it genuinely matters for most people though. You're simply not that important. Even in regards to regular law enforcement, there are bigger fish to fry instead of you downloading some movie. What I'd be worried about is legislation allowing blanket bans/blanket surveillance of such providers and data. That stuff is a real danger to your privacy and they try all the time. If some new porposed internet law is all about catching the internet terrorists/pedophiles, be wary. The rhetoric is probably to hide the fact that it'd affect your freedom badly.

All VPNs keep logs, even the ones that say they don't.
All VPNs will turn over data to the feds if given a subpoena or paid enough.

Use Tor.

And this is worthy of a repost, because the URL has changed and the old one 404s: https://matt.traudt.xyz/posts/2019-10-17-you-want-tor-browser-not-a-vpn/

A friendly reminder that Tor was funded almost entirely by the US Navy Office of Naval Intelligence & US State Department. Also, considering the tiny number of exit nodes, it's easy to understand how Tor just creates a convenient funnel for all of the juicy traffic that the US/Five Eyes Surveillance apparatus might want to monitor.

Hot take: the feds aren't going to kick in your door for saying nigger on Kiwifarms or downloading the latest episode of a TV show. What you need to be worried about is civil shit like getting sued for uploading a TV show or slander.
Well, other than some notable residents past and future. Just try not to glow too hard out there, guys.

Nah, Tor is the safest thing you can use, specifically because the U.S. funds. They want it for its anonymity and will go out of their way to protect it. Tor is filled with terrorists, hitmen, hackers, child pornographers, LEA, activists, criminals, and spies all working at cross purposes to one another. Because everybody has skeletons in the closets, everyone has a vested interest in keeping things as in the dark as possible.

Tor is a honeypot for collecting information on illegal activity. Since all I do is steal movies and music from the Hollywood shysters, I don't give a fuck. But if you are a potential target for the US surveillance state, just know that they are the ones who funded its creation.

The thing is, its decentralized anonymity is also integral to their own operations. That's why Tor is safer than most other forms of anonymity; the U.S. has a vested interest in keeping it that way.

Have any Farmers given the new Brave VPN service a spin yet? Just curious if itd be worth the time signing up for the trial. Not looking to glow post I just want something to bypass region filters and dab on reddit trannies.

Edit - update, said fuck it and went with Mullvad since it gets good reviews and the euro crashed so it's only $5 a month. So far so good, have been able to effectively dab on twitter jannies, haven't tried on 4chinz yet.

Just a heads up that the latest Proton VPN client contains an optional Malware shield that, as of a few days ago, blocks Kiwifarms from loading. Going into the settings and turning that shield off does the trick. If the site hasn't had problems with malware hacks in the past, this might be a sus move on behalf of Proton.

It's not specifically the malware shield, but in the ads and tracking part. Keeping malware on still let's kiwifarms work.

The RU domain still works but avatars are broken (most other media looks okay)

I know this is late, but it's important. One of the presentations that Snowden leaked was the glowniggers (NSA) and limey glowfaggots (GCHQ) complaining to each other that "Tor Stinks", that they can't decrypt it as well as they'd hoped. It's still up on the Grauniad's website.

I'd switch. I'll note Proton still has the same problems as PIA has recently exhibited with misguided blocklists, although on both platforms they can be disabled. I've heard good things about Mullvad, have no personal experience, but that's probably what I'd switch to if I left Proton. I'm suspicious of any reasonably high speed VPN like this, although I use it.
Has there been another lawsuit to prove if they're tracking users?
this feels like nekro to quote an old post like this, and im sorry if it is. but i use pia and really want a follow up to the question. im not the most knowledgeable on all the inner workings of vpn stuff so id like a kiwi to explain it to this retard.

They sold out to a sketchy Israeli company called Kape that not only was associated with malware in the past but also had a CEO from Israel's Unit 8200, their version of the NSA. Also they appeared to be trying to buy up all their competitors which is suspicious as well.
